You bet! We have a good time bringing everyone along and sharing what we love. 😃
Beautiful 😍
Yes indeed! A lovely day on the water for sure.
love your channel very informative and entertaining for someone headed to Alaska for the first time to fish and cook
Fishing and cooking, camping and exploring is why we’re here! A lot of first time visitors fall in love and make the journey up this way annually. Some even decide to move here and build a life permanently. There’s lots of opportunities and good times to be had so I’m very excited for you!
Thanks Jim
Yea, that made my day. Such a good guy to run into down there on the river. Hopefully I can catch him next season too!
Can’t wait to see you in action bro miss your videos 😊
I’m missing it too! It won’t be long though however until the fishing is back in full swing! Thanks for tuning in!
I love that you take us along! Thank you!
Absolutely, It's my pleausre!
I'm glad you met Jim i red fish in the same spot as him every year and its awsome to see him every time I go down, he is a wonderful gentaman.
That’s awesome! He was definitely inspiring to say the least, great guy indeed. Thanks for mentioning it!
I’m moving there tomorrow morning. I’ve appreciated the videos and I’m stoked to get out on the water. Thanks man.
Welcome to town! Thanks for checking out the channel!
Another cool adventure! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Lots of fish in there, just lots of water too. The best spots are flooded out this year. Good for a salmon trying to get home though i guess..
@@alaskasmallcraftadventuresI lived in AK as a kid. Juneau and Kodiak. Trying to find my way back there.
That rainbow though! Good times and Tight lines!
Yea baby! Good thing Hunter came through with that boat! Put me right on that legend of a trout!
Another fun adventure. Thanks for the upload!

You bet! I love seeing those big rainbows come out of there.
Nice! Appreciate that.
Fished with Vinny twice last week right there. Unfortunately I am back in Georgia in the heat. But my heart is in Alaska. Fish on brothers
Until our paths cross next time my friend! Its always a pleasure fishing with a fan and making that connection. Stay cool!
New sub ! Liked 🙏😊🙌
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for all the great tips! I just binged watched your Kenai videos. Iv been fishing the lower from all the public access for the past couple weeks. Not sure if its bad timing on my part but Iv only hooked into two silvers. got any tips? should I be focused on mid river instead of lower? Is it the high water? I know people are catching fish, just not me.
The guide boats are targeting down low, so it’s no surprise that’s where they are catching them. The water levels have dropped substantially from where they were a month ago when the silvers showed up. The 6 weeks of rain we just had kind of shot the season in my opinion. Usually the fish don’t move through as fast but this year the silvers were peaking early and only stuck around for about 10 days. The beginning of August was best imo. We were catching limits of silvers well before the adfg opened bait and multiple hooks on august 15. I’ve been skunked the last three trips out so it’s not just you!! That’s just how the salmon are though, one day they’re here and the next they’re not!
Man I gotta do some trout fishing again! I been so hung up on smallmouth bass and multi species tournaments that I haven’t gone back to my roots for a while! Next video I post will have to include me catching some trout! Thanks brotha for the sick vid and keep tight lines🤘
These trout here are thick right now! Getting hooked into some heavier silvers too. Turning out to be a stellar fall season.
Great video Guys! Can you wade across to the island at Swiftwater Park???
Good question. I wouldn’t try it today. I took a boat over yesterday and the water is moving fast right now. You could probably make to the island but maybe not back!
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures Thanks. How about September 20th? I think the water would be lower.?
We will see how it goes! These rivers swell all summer with the glacier feeds and rain so it’s hard to forecast. I’ll be there to look at it though!
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures Ryan are you guys guiding? Or would you ferry my brother and I to the Swiftwater Island for one day only?
Nah we’re not guiding. The ADFG requires licensing that we do not hold. Maybe next year but as of now we’re going to have to leave that up to the professionals.
what up youtube! what that rainbow bite on??
A small cluster of salmon roe, egg loop w/ j hook and an orange bead.
This isn’t the boardwalk in the soldotna park is it? Been awhile since I been that way.
This spot is just upstream from the Soldotna Creek park fishing boardwalks at Swiftwater campground.
Do you like sockeyes better than silvers for eating?
Sockeye are firmer and the red meat has a beautiful appeal when handling. Id give the Sockeye "one up" for texture. Silvers are noticeably softer with lighter colored meat. Both have good fat content and cook well with full flavor. I prefer sockeye all around when it comes to preparing and eating, but after its on the plate or smoked most probably couldn't tell the difference.
Says steelhead don’t really run in the kenai then proceeds to catches a huge rainbow on the next episode 😂…but awesome episode bro good job 🤜🏼
Steelhead are sea run Rainbows. Rainbows are resident in fresh water....two different things. Kenai is full of Rainbows.
LOL seriously though! Ive fished this spot since I was a little kid and have never caught or seen a steelhead caught in this river. Im sure they could be in there but Ive never known one to show itself! Rainbows, dollies, shefish, salmon yes, steelies no. Otters and seals are even seen at Swiftwater more often id say! Thanks for watching, this is my biggest rainbow in years btw... :)
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Exaclty.... I guess you have to ask the fish where it's been to determine what to call it!!
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures there are steelhead in the Kenai. They spawn up at Skilak lake. You can catch them at the sand dunes fall and all winter.
Nice FIsh!
Thanks for saying so, thanks for the “nice” comment! 😉
For sure. I'm not aware of any other way to talk to someone on this otherwise I would go that route. You been catching any silvers lately?
We got 5 yesterday. One was 15 lbs! Some big fish are headed this way!
Not sure what the flesh of the pinks that are fresh but here they can be as red as a coho
They’re nearly the same color but noticeably softer than the coho flesh.
@@alaskasmallcraftadventures when they're that colour they are the best
How late can we fish for Coho at Swiftwater? Is it too late?
It’s not too late. The kenai river silver salmon derby is happening right now. It’s like peak season for the big ones!
This at swift water?
Yes it is.
Awesome episode but Jim totally hijacked the show!
I know right?! I had to give it to him though, shows up, casts twice, reels in a silver, nets it himself, drops his Jingle and peaces out! Honestly, If that's me one day id be livin...
