  • My wife Lynn and I traveled to Alaska with 44 other RVers during the summer of 2022 through Fantasy RV Tours. During our stay in Kenai, we booked a Salmon Fishing/Bear Viewing Tour with Talon Air Service in nearby Soldotna, Alaska. Joining us on the tour are our new friends, Ron Miller and Tommy Grigsby, who were also traveling with our Fantasy RV Tours group.
The tour begins with a float plane ride over Cook Inlet to our fishing/bear viewing destination on the other side. We then board a 19 ft. fishing boat with our guide for the day, "Captain Morgan". After a brief boat ride Morgan provides us with fishing equipment and instructions. It didn't take long before we got a look at our first bear walking on the shoreline.
After we reeled in several sockeye salmon we got a great view of a bear with her 3 cubs. The mother bear was very entertaining as she showed off her diving skills apparently fishing for salmon to feed the youngsters.
After catching our limit of salmon, Captain Morgan took us on another boat ride to an island where he filleted the fish and grilled some of our catch for shore lunch. It was amazingly delicious!
We then take another boat ride back to the float plane and head back to Talon Air Service home base. The flight back was outstanding as the pilot took us on a different route over the mountains providing us with astonishing views of snow covered mountains and glaciers.
This trip was phenomenal and will be engraved in our minds forever! Totally enjoyed spending this memorable day with our guide, Captain Morgan, and our new friends Ron and Tommy!

One of the best adventures to be on in Alaska; Wolverine Creek! Try and use a medium action spinning rod with 8 pound test to catch these fish. Real fun, expecially when they peel of 50 yards of line

Have you ever fished for red salmon? It is very unfortunate that uneducated people chose to judge other folks regarding subjects that they know nothing about. This type of fishing is just as ethical and it takes just as much skill as the method that you chose to use for the species that you fish for. It is legal in Alaska for very good reasons. This is a very cool video including showing a local technique for fishing for a species of salmon that don't bite.
