I much prefer reading on the tablet over the e-ink device. I have a Kindle Paperwhite and an Amazon Fire 7, and I exclusively use the Fire 7. Goes with me everywhere, and I average about 2 to 3 hours per day of reading on it during the workweek, up to about 6 or 7 hours on Sundays. For me, it is flawless. Perfect size, durable (especially with the case and sleeve I have for mine), easy for me to keep in my work bag to read on during lunch break, and the screen is nice. Great color and contrast. I have 125 books in my Kindle App library, and a further 130 books in PDF format that I read using the Moon+ Reader app. The experience the Fire 7 provides is absolutely perfect for me.
A Kindle Fire has to have the battery recharged more frequently (1 - 3 times per week vs. 1-2 times per month.) A Kindle Fire has a display that is more harsh to the eyes than a Kindle Paperwhite e-reader.) Please keep these two things in mind when deciding which is preferred. The only major thing in my opinion aside from reader comfort is whether the owner/user insists on having color vs. black-and white, and whether or not one insists on watching movies (in color) or storing color photos in the Fire which the Kindle of course does not enable.
Yay! You won't be disappointed, I love mine. It having color is key for me, way more pleasing to the eye. Well, the whole thing is more pleasing to the eye to me😉
I am a huge fan of all the kindles. I have the paperwhite, the oasis and the fire hd 8 plus. I like them for different reasons. I love the paper white and the oasis for the portability and the fire hd for the variety of things you can do on it. The only reason I find myself reaching for the fire tablet more often is because I like read and listen to the audio books at the same time. Otherwise I just use my phone to do both. This just makes it more convenient. 😊
How is the Oasis? I've wondered about it. I really like my Kindle Fire. I get terrible eye strain from hardback books. I still read books from the library though.
As someone who was used to the Fire, I agree! It's like night and day, the one thing I've noticed is the Paperwhite stays charged a long time versus the Fire. But that's the only con for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I went through exactly the same thing when my Kindle Fire died! Paperwhite is vague, even on darkest setting, and harder to navigate. I just ordered a new Kindle Fire 8, hoping I shouldn't have gotten a 10. I want sharp lettering. Thanks.

Hi! I much prefer the Kindle Fire. I first had the 10" ,then I got the Paperwhite. Then I got the 8" Fire. Which is what I use now. My next one I will go back to the 10". The Paperwhite is black and white, just for reading and is quite small. The Fire is in color, and you can use it for reading, games, music, UA-cam, etc. I like the 8" for traveling, but for every day use I like the 10". So do you suggest the Kindle Fire 7 or 10?? I have the Kindle Fire 3 😆 It doesn’t support Audible. Do these new Kindles support Audible. Can you read while listening at the same time? And can you use the Kindle Fire to watch UA-cam or Netflix?? Please answer 😃
Hi! I definitely suggest the Kindle 10" if you are going to be watching any videos on it. And if you need the font bigger. I like my 7" for traveling because it's smaller. But I'm going to get a new 10" for every day. Yes, you can access audible on it. Not sure if you can read and listen at the same time though. Yes , UA-cam and Netflix! Thanks for watching!
@@livelaughlove2read620 I'm glad you like it! I had a Nook before I had the Fire and the Nook is nearly half the size, so that's probably why I think the Fire 10 is so big!
@@livelaughlove2read620 That's funny, I really like the Nook! But I appreciate how Kindle is compatible with library apps so I can read for free. I get most of my books through Libby now and read them on my Fire Tablet
@@katiekennedy8461 You can read library books on your nook. You have to download Adobe digital editions to your computer first. Then navigate to your library's website on the computer, download the epub version of the book you want to borrow to your computer. Then, plug your nook into your computer. You will need to have Adobe digital editions open and drag the downloaded epub from your downloads folder on your computer to the Adobe digital editions folder. You will need to register your nook with Adobe digital editions for it to pop up as a removable drive on the computer. It's a process that takes less than five minutes. Once the nook shows up as a removable drive, you will drag the downloaded book from Adobe digital editions down to where you now see your nook in the same app, and it will copy the file to your nook. Be sure to safely eject your nook from the computer and then you can read it on your nook. I have noticed with downloaded library books on the nook that they will expire on the due date whether or not you have wifi turned on. However, with the Kindle as long as you have wifi turned off, you can keep the book as long as you need to. The library will get their copy back on the due date, but it will stay on your Kindle as long as you have wifi turned off. Hope this helps.
Nobody bother buying a kindle! I bought one and it is so slow. It works for its purpose but you’d think for the price it’d be of higher quality. Big regrets, returning for a fire tablet!
I'm a bit new to tablets. How do you do settings on your tablet's kindle to tell it to store the books OFFLINE, for when you are traveling in areas that don't have internet? Thanks.
When you load/download the book to your kindle and open the book. It’s on your device. Then you can turn it on airplane mode and still have access to it
Looking to buy something that will be best for reading audible books and is easily intuitive for a very elderly person. Any advice would be a big help.
I would think the Kindle Fire would be great for audible. If someone can show them how to access and turn on the audible book. It it is bigger, and easier to hold too. That being said, I don't know how to access audible on the Kindle Paperwhite. As I gave it to daughter.
@@livelaughlove2read620 Thank you for responding. Got it sussed now. Changed the awkward settings whereby the machine read everything. Fire seems as good as anything. Thanks

Love them both
I am talking about the upper navigation bar.
I have the Fire 10 but it's so big, a smaller size would be much better for reading! The 7 looks like a great size for comfortable reading!
It really is! I'm surprised, because I had the 10 first and loved it. I am loving the 7 too though. It being smaller is actually great!
@@livelaughlove2read620 I'm glad you like it! I had a Nook before I had the Fire and the Nook is nearly half the size, so that's probably why I think the Fire 10 is so big!
I had a Nook long time ago, don't remember loving it. Lol
Hope this helps.
readibility in the sun and bright light. - that's whats all kindle's for
Nobody bother buying a kindle!
Then you can turn it on airplane mode and still have access to it
What storage is your kindle fire?
Looking to buy something that will be best for reading audible books and is easily intuitive for a very elderly person. Any advice would be a big help.
I would think the Kindle Fire would be great for audible. If someone can show them how to access and turn on the audible book. It it is bigger, and easier to hold too. That being said, I don't know how to access audible on the Kindle Paperwhite. As I gave it to daughter.
@@livelaughlove2read620 Thank you for responding. Got it sussed now. Changed the awkward settings whereby the machine read everything. Fire seems as good as anything. Thanks
Great video! Tx!
Thanks for watching!
Can you delete all of the distracting apps on the kindle fire? Someone else got it and said they couldn’t delete the apps that were already pre installed?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I haven't tried .
i haven't any, but the amazon fire looks better.
Imo, it is. But lots of people like both.
