Characteristics of a Classic:
Creates mystery or astonishment for children and adults.
Can be performed close up or platform.
Simple plot
Visual
Relatively easy to perform, leaving you to concentrate on presentation.
Time tested - 25 to 100 years.
Denny advised new performers to master these first.

My thoughts:
I would start with a bit broader definition of the term "Classic".
Classic - a trick that has stood the test of time. Meaning that it is just as impactful/entertaining today as it was 25, 50, or 100 years ago and so has remained in the repertoire of many magicians over the decades.
Examples would include "Cups and Balls", "Linking Rings", "Multiplying Billiard Balls", "20th Century Silks", "4 Ace Trick"
Elements that contributed to a particular trick/effect becoming a classic include:
Impactful/entertaining, fooling, plot that easy to understand/follow
Added advantages would be that it is scalable (audience size) and with the technical reach of most magicians
I like it. Thanks for sharing. I have already recorded classic effects for the parlor and full stage; otherwise, I might reference some of what you shared.
