      It really depends on the person... I'm Dutch, and I think I sound fine, as do many other people I know. Some are really bad, yes. Don't generalize and make hateful comments though. That's not very nice. These people are trying their best.

      Then you need to be scared. Timmermans reverts to a Dutch accent when he gets worked up, so if he sounds English here it's because he had it all pre-planned, including the crying, for his own political gain.

  • @marijeboer
    @marijeboer 9 років тому +58

    It's sad to see all the hateful discussions going on here. We're only a small country used to living in peace. The death toll is so immense for only 17 million inhabitants. if you'd compare this to a country like America, imagine 3600 deaths. It is a HUGE loss for us. Please try to be respectful to each other, there's no need for all this hatred! Every human life lost over war is one too many.

      Most of these people were all from the same area, the area I’m from, around the cities amsterdam and haarlem. Too many people I know indirectly know someone who died in that plane crash. I live 5 minutes from a burial place where a family grave from this plane lies. The loss was enormous.

Now I am 18 years old and able to understand this disaster even better. I salute you mister Timmerman, watching this makes me proud to be part of this country and society. Unfortunately this has happened in an area with civil war and on Russian ground. The govts of the West must have had knowledge this 'delay' would happen because the matter is so sensitive. let's say you are at war with your neighbors, their cat suddenly dies on your ground. You are reluctant to let the 'enemy' on your ground and in your house with many men/women to 'investigate'. because you feel it is a provocation. what would you do?
      Exactly the point! This is so damn convenient for USA en EU and NATO to go and brainfuck the hell out of Russia. And Russia probably knows this.

    As a Dutchman I'm actually shocked reading the comments on this video. Frans Timmermans did a tremendous job translating the feelings of all the Dutch on the plane crash in a speech of about 6 and a half minutes. That is, especially at the moment he had deliver those words, an achievement on it's own. Don't forget, we are a small country, a disaster like this indirectly hits all the people of the Netherlands.I know several people who had friends, coworkers or even familiy who were on that plane. Everyone I know somehow has a link to people traveling with MH017 on the 17th of July. This is not just "like a 100 people", or 194, or 298 people who died in a plane crash. This is the result of a huge mistake made in a region which has their own problems, and now makes it our problem also. Not in a way of participating in a war, but of deep greef of the loss of our fellow citizens, who where just going on holiday or a journey with other purposes, which have nothing to do with war.
    I'm not blaming Russian citizens for this, nor Ukranians. As citizens of all the countries in the world we only have one interest: to live in peace, in our own countries but also together worldwide. So why bring up Palestine and Israel, which have nothing to do with the plane crash of a Malasyan aircraft or Dutch Citizens? We all have our own reasons for greefing over people keeping slaughtering other human beings. But in commenting on this video, only one thing is really relevant. Let's all realise that no matter what is going on in this world, we all want peace. We all want to achieve something in life that really matters. War isn't such a thing. Keeping our respects for the victims of MH017 IS.

    Why do people make comments asking why these speeches aren't being made for other causes? He made this speech because that's his job: To react to the problems of the country he is taking part in governing. If this crash happened to a plane connected to France, he wouldn't have made this speech, both because it wasn't related to his country nor his job to speak up. I agree that any unfair death deserves a speech, but not from someone who has no relation to the event. Rather than dwell on the speeches that aren't made, maybe instead focus on the ones that are made, and show a little respect for the tragic event?

    • @kevinquinn4643
      @kevinquinn4643 6 років тому

      Apparently his 'job' ended with his final 'thank -you' to his audience. A sloppy political investigation, a biased report, unproven charges and a possible perpetrator sitting on the 'investigation' has left what could be significant parts of the plane and its passengers still strewn across eastern Ukraine. Three years late and million 'crocodile tears' shy.

      R.I.P... It could be two BUKs. Ukrainian fighter jets shot at Donetsk/Lugansk killing civilians. Russia could send a BUK to help rebels. Ukraine learned it and shot down MH17 making it looks like Russian BUK did it. Years before, Siberia Airlines Flight 1812 was a commercial flight shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force over the Black Sea on 4 October 2001, en route from Tel Aviv, Israel to Novosibirsk, Russia.

    Never in my life has one politician spoken my exact thoughts as yesterday. I think I can say on behalf of our nation and the wide number of responses I've heard and seen that never a politician has spoken our feelings, thoughts and sorrow so well as Timmermans. I know my Dutch as a people that are tough, not emotionally fragile by design, and straight forward in thinking, we have a down to earth way of thinking which sometimes is misunderstood by the world. But never have I seen my people and myself so defeated as this. I'm proud of the way we handled it at first, still sort of grounded that this all was a very tragic mistake. But the way the things occured after broke us. The looting, the touching stuff, the black mail to give a kid's drawing back for two beers, the claiming bodies where dead before take off, blame games, valse victim games, lying about thr black boxes, letting bodies rot, blocking the train and teams, unwanted media exposure, international press hunting down families of victims. It's sickening. We have work to do to get back on our feet, we have to dig deep in order to not go pissed off crazy over this. #bringthemhome and great love to all grieving their lost ones in every country. ♡

I came here because I just read Igor Girkin has been arrested in Russia for being too critical at the Kremlin. They probably won't hand him over to us (he got a life sentence here). But at least he'll rot in a Russian prison somewhere. Still, it doesn't feel like justice to me.

    All these years later and Putin has showed no remorse. This is part of the reason why sending weapons to Ukraine has received so much support among NATO nations. This isn't just an altruistic act, it's also in our own interest to make Russia face consequences for its evil.

      really? what has that to do with the speech by Timmermans? please keep your anti America comments in the appropriate places like rightwingnut sites and the likes. This is not about the USA therefor sympathies for all the woman and children killed by drones (US or otherwise) you will not find here for obvious reasons. Oh wait.... clearly not that obvious to you

      What about the far greater number killed by Islamic terrorists and insurgents? Oh, that’s right, you don’t give a shit about those people. You don’t really care about any of the victims of war, but to make a political statement. Your cynicism nauseates me.
      I feel a great amount of sorrow for ALL victims of war regardless of where they live.Arab, Jew, American, Russian, Ukrainian, African, etc.

      Beasts kill each other for food, nothing else. Humans kill each other for so many other reasons, mostly being hate

      Actually, animals also kill for many other reasons other than food, but that said, humans do have a lot many reasons to kill than beasts, and yes, hate is probably a reason to kill that only humans use.
