Context ( there’s a context so I use it in the comments): MH17, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, was a passenger flight that was shot down on July 17, 2014, while flying over eastern Ukraine. The aircraft, a Boeing 777, was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and tragically crashed in an area controlled by pro-Russian separatists during the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. The Dutch Safety Board conducted an investigation and concluded that MH17 was shot down by a Buk surface-to-air missile system. The missile struck the aircraft, causing it to break apart mid-air, resulting in the loss of all 298 people on board. The investigation determined that the Buk missile launcher was brought into Ukraine from Russia and then returned to Russia after the downing of MH17. The exact circumstances and those responsible for launching the missile have been a subject of international investigations and legal proceedings. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there were ongoing efforts to hold those responsible accountable, but no definitive resolution had been reached.
This plane was shot down buy pro russian rebels. BUT. The ukrainian government is responsible to lock down the air corridor over dangerious terrain. A couple month this was an dangerous corridor, but the government locked it only to flights under 7900 Meters (29000 feet) height. 3 days before MH17 got shot, an ukrainian Antonov army plane got shot in 6500m (21300 feet) height. After that the ukrainian government did not shut down the whole corridor for passenger planes. They just took the limit for flights up to 9750 meter (32000 feet). They knew how dangerous this was and still they let hundreds of passenger planes fly above this corridor. As far as i know, passenger airplane companys have to pay money to the government to fly over those corridors, so they would have lost a lot of money if the shut down this corridor. Then flight MH17 got shot, when it ONLY flew 300 meters (984 feet) above the limit of 9750 meter (32000 feet) height. The ukrainian government send not a SINGLE warning to passenger plane companys how dangerous it was there. And then the plane got shot. It was probably mistaken for an army plane. Some of the rebels made serious mistakes, but still it was the ukrainian governments task to shut down the whole corridor. But they havent done it. And right now this whole things gets swept under the rug and ukraine says its russias fault while russia says its ukraines fault. Disgusting. Both cowards. and also important.. hundreds of passenger planes flew over this corridor before this plane was shot down... the ukrainian government was responsible to inform the airlines if a corridor is safe or not but they neglected it and didnt inform anyone or gave false information.
What about holding ukraine to account for not closing the airspace when they knew the rebels had russian missiles capable of shooting down an airliner by mistake?

Well I understand what they're saying though. It's extremely ridiculous to fly a plane over a conflict zone because it can easily be mistaken for a military plane and be shot down. This isn't the first time it happened and other airlines didn't fly over the zone because of the risk. They're somewhat right asking the question who the hell would fly a plane filled with civilians over a zone of conflict when many European airlines considered the danger was too much to fly there. It's the airline their fault as well as the ones that shot it down and adding to that governments that should have warned airlines more or even forbid them to fly over zones of conflict. The danger is just too great in favour of saving costs.

Such a tragedy to happen to 2 Malaysian airlines aircraft in 1 year. I’ve only been to Malaysia twice, but I love the country and it’s people. Fun, friendly, hard working and kind, I cried after this happened. RIP.
And yet i barely see anyone blaming airlines. They were full aware of fighting going on, yet still deciced to save up some money on fuel, and only changed routes after plane got shot down
just because russia made a conflict and made the donbass airskies dangerous doesnt mean that malaysia airlines could just fly right through it without any consideration for its passengers safety. if anything Malaysia airlines should be punished for it's dozens of crashes.
@@curly5330 my point is that at the time, it was a common airway used by airlines that hadn't been closed because the ukrainian government had underestimated the russian separatists. it's in no way MH's fault.
Tears role down my eyes watching this, dreams, futures, hopes, aspirations, expectations, destinies, ambitions all unfortunately cut short due to politics and misinformation on the side of the rebels. To my understanding, they had no idea it was a passager plane, they shot it down thinking it's a military plane or probably a plane belonging to one of their enemies.
Tell that to the Ukranian government which gave no warnings or requests to change course to MH-17 but did nothing as it flew straight into an active combat zone where Ukrainian military aircraft were operating and getting shot down. How were the separatists supposed to know that they were targeting a civilian airliner and not another Ukranian military aircraft performing bombing runs?
it is war crime and it's Ukraine to blame for it. Intentionally funneling civilian planes over war zone and the west did nothing about it. Doneck was area with 40% of Ukrainian GDP and a lot of military equipment. Regardless today we know what ukraine is willing to do for their PR stunts. They see ukrainians expandable.
There were a lot of Dutch passengers on that plane, one my classmate's friend was on that plane with his family. It took a long time to get the bodies back (what was left of them) and still no one has been held responsible. Someone fired that rocket, someone must be punished.
The geopolitics was being played by the biggest players at that time that we Malaysians have literally no leverage or chance to have a say in all this and got swept under the carpet. Both sides told their stories and blamed each other, in the end there was no justice ever brought.
Top bad Malaysia is the bottom tier of the underdogs among world nations. Where scraps and bones are thrown to the politicians to keep them happy. Malaysia is like a dog with no balls and teeth compared to Russia and US
Russia delivering only food to donbass. It only this junta in kiev to blame. As proven in the last 2 years it's a terrorist regime willing to kill all Ukrainians for PR stunts and money.
Their demeanor was just disgusting. The reaction after they knew it was an innocent passengers was just too calm and not “we’re doomed” just make my blood boiled. As a Malaysian, we will never forget. And we will never forgive.
It's the fault of whoever allowed the plane to fly through a warzone. The plane itself was given 2 warnings but didn't respond, so they assumed it had to be a military plane. As for their reaction, they're used to seeing dead people. Nothing new to them.
That year, Malaysia has lost 2 airplanes and all of the passengers...MH17 was shot by random rebels while MH370 is still missing till this day...I gave my condolences to all of the passengers
We actually lost 3 planes that same year, except maybe it doesn't count since the plane was registered under airasia indonesia. But still, airasia is malaysian based for the most part
It was shot down by russian invaders. It's disrespectful to the victims to not name the actual criminals who are responsible for this terroristic act and the country that sponsored it - russia.
As a Malaysian, this was just unbearable... 08 March 2014 MH370 went missing... 17 July 2014 MH17 got shot down... Malaysia Airlines reputation had gone from being one of the safest airlines in the world, to the worst... Even though MH17 was just a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time... MH370's latest finding was suggesting that someone on the plane had entered into a (failed) negotiation with someone in the Malaysian government, when it flew for abt 22 mins in a holding pattern above the sea area outside the tip of Sumatera island...
The fact that this was months after the MH370 incident and being a Malaysian who has always enjoyed flying with Malaysian Airlines just saddens me. Both events will go down as two of the most troubling events in Malaysian Aviation history.

Cult Boy it’s not a secret .... autoGCAS was developed yearssss ago for US military fighter pilots. If they experienced episode of hypoxia due to G-loc; it gives the opportunity to be remotely controlled and automatically recover prior to crash. There’s videos online showing the system work and one shows a pilot actually saved by system. But the technology isn’t at all a secret.
The west downplayed heavily the situation going on there in the same way like in Georgia in 2008, to the point they didn't really find it necessary to make this area a no fly zone for planes. If there would be a very strong and impactful reaction for events in Georgia in 2008, sanctions and so on, then nothing would happen in Ukraine in 2014, this terrible accident wouldn't happen and current war wouldn't happen either. 2008 was seriously a Pandora's box being opened... Very sad because untill 2007 we were really doing great, if not recession and lack of heavy intervention in Georgia, we would be in a completely different place nowadays, most likely way better.

^ 32,998 feet (Rozsypne and Hrabove are both in Donetsk region)
'The airspace above Donetsk was managed by Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities imposed restrictions for flights under 32,000 feet (9,800 m), but did not consider closing the airspace to civil aviation completely.
37 airlines continued overflying eastern Ukraine and about 900 flights crossed the Donetsk region in the seven days before the Boeing 777 was shot down
'Russian air traffic controllers issued a notice effective 17 July at 00:00 with two conflicting altitude restrictions in the airspace in the adjacent area over Russia below 32,000 feet (9,800 m) and below 53,000 feet (16,000 m). Long-distance flights typically travel at altitudes of 33,000 to 44,000 feet, so the second restriction would effectively close that airspace to civilian overflights, but the second restriction was not noted by the automated systems of Malaysian Airlines and the route was not changed.'
Russian authorities told the Dutch Safety Board the notice had been published "to create agreement with the adjoining Ukrainian airspace", but provided no clarification for the higher restriction
^ Russia provided unclear and sudden conflicting altitude restrictions without a generalized location ('adjacent area over russia' most likely meaning the entirety of the donbas/Crimea region)
The American Federal Aviation Administration issued restrictions on flights over Crimea, to the south of MH17's route, and advised airlines flying over some other parts of Ukraine to "exercise extreme caution". This warning did not include the MH17 crash region..

Ukraine cheaped out of closing the civilian airspace because it still collected overflight fees for commercial aircraft that fly through their territory despite knowing the possibility for danger, but at the same time set a clear restriction within their territory which is where MH-17 was present at the time of the crash which was respected by both sides until July 17th at 0:00
Russia on the other hand made a contradictory, unclear, and sudden change to its aircraft flight path restrictions with no clear justification which was evidently was the info fed to to donbas seperatist groups backed by russia which downed the plane.
Ultimately, it was not MH-17s fault, it was the fault of bureaucratic process from both sides of the conflict however predominantly Russia's due to its unclear methodology at detailing what is fair game to shoot or what isn't within a fair timeframe and outlining the territory in which this law comes to effect.

@@s.n.r394 I really don't believe the pilot is to blame. Of course I don't know, but it seems to me that if he were, we'd been told so in a more obvious way from the very beginning. Regarding MH17, the ATC actually asked them to lower their altitude right above the war zone, which is totally insane, since other airlines were kept to fly higher or elsewhere, and in any case, planes go higher as they lose the weight of the kerosene they've been using. The flight was in its fourth hour, which is typically a time when these types of planes on long haul flights start going higher than their original cruising altitude after departure. In both cases, something is really fishy and I don't believe anybody on board is to blame. I have no idea why, but I tend to think both planes were targeted. Let us pray for them all anyway.
This was one of the possible flights I could have boarded. After my long distance girlfriend at the time, now ex, had pleaded with me not to board any Malaysian Airlines flights after the disappearance of flight 370 a couple of months prior. Operation under a false flag! Double Northwoods in both damage and lies. The lie is not only in who did it, but also in how it was done!
And yet i barely see anyone blaming airlines. They were full aware of fighting going on, yet still deciced to save up some money on fuel, and only changed routes after plane got shot down
A good friend of ours was in that plane too, Willem Grootscholten. May he and the rest, rest in peace.😔
just because russia made a conflict and made the donbass airskies dangerous doesnt mean that malaysia airlines could just fly right through it without any consideration for its passengers safety. if anything Malaysia airlines should be punished for it's dozens of crashes.
@@curly5330 this was in 2014
@@curly5330 ah yes because how dare malaysia airlines for flying a route other passengers planes had flown on the same day.
@@merrynesther doesnt matter, a lot of planes go through afghan war zones, some get shot down and some dont, your point?
@@curly5330 my point is that at the time, it was a common airway used by airlines that hadn't been closed because the ukrainian government had underestimated the russian separatists. it's in no way MH's fault.
Tears role down my eyes watching this, dreams, futures, hopes, aspirations, expectations, destinies, ambitions all unfortunately cut short due to politics and misinformation on the side of the rebels. To my understanding, they had no idea it was a passager plane, they shot it down thinking it's a military plane or probably a plane belonging to one of their enemies.
Rebels???? Those were Russian and the weapons they used were from Russia
@@minzblatt they're Ukrainian
Why the hell were they allowed to fly over a warzone? Fast money, lifelong agony
@@sillygoose4100 no they are not. They are talking Russian here, not Ukrainian.
@@sillygoose4100 where did Ukrainian rebels get surface to air missiles from?
Just found out about this. That's horrible, both inoccent people and pets were on board😥

Really?? It was International news
@@fullsunny2530yes, I was pretty young when this happened and I never used to watch the news
If that ain’t a war crime, idk what is…
This is another war crime of the West, or rather part of it, because there was a preparatory stage on March 8, 2014, to be done on July 17, 2014.
it is war crime and it's Ukraine to blame for it. Intentionally funneling civilian planes over war zone and the west did nothing about it. Doneck was area with 40% of Ukrainian GDP and a lot of military equipment. Regardless today we know what ukraine is willing to do for their PR stunts. They see ukrainians expandable.
They better thank god there was no Americans on that flight.
As Malaysian citizens, we will never forget.
Guess what?No one gives a fuck,u shouldn't fly around war zone u dumbass
Oh no. As Russian, my heart rate increase right now. Scary Malaysia will never forget, what should we do?

There were a lot of Dutch passengers on that plane, one my classmate's friend was on that plane with his family. It took a long time to get the bodies back (what was left of them) and still no one has been held responsible. Someone fired that rocket, someone must be punished.
it was not even a rocket, it was artillery

It was Putins thugs in Donbass region.
The geopolitics was being played by the biggest players at that time that we Malaysians have literally no leverage or chance to have a say in all this and got swept under the carpet.
Both sides told their stories and blamed each other, in the end there was no justice ever brought.
Politicians And Terrorist In War Like Politicians Are Gamers Against CPU (Terrorist) In The 3D Gaming Panel On The Table Inside The Conference Room.
That year, Malaysia has lost 2 airplanes and all of the passengers...MH17 was shot by random rebels while MH370 is still missing till this day...I gave my condolences to all of the passengers
who was it that allowed a passenger plane flying over a war zone I will never know
@@KristianDabeski the no fly zone was a lower altitude. This plane was flying above that, it should've never been targeted.
We actually lost 3 planes that same year, except maybe it doesn't count since the plane was registered under airasia indonesia. But still, airasia is malaysian based for the most part

New research and new search will began soon , operated , looking for the new location
Tragic. Absolutely heart breaking as it should never have happened.
The fact that this was months after the MH370 incident and being a Malaysian who has always enjoyed flying with Malaysian Airlines just saddens me. Both events will go down as two of the most troubling events in Malaysian Aviation history.
This looks like something an average arma 3 player would do
Ah yes .. My War Crime simulator
Or gta

I can totally see this being in a SovietWomble video, at least in that case nobody would have actually died under dubious circumstances

My dad was there")I miss him so much")
I am so sorry for the poor victims of this tragedy. My father was there too but he was a part of the recovery team. It was such a horrifying sight.

Your dad is in a better place now.
I almost bought the ticket of that plane. If my friend didn't make me to stay a bit longer before the summer break, I would be certainly on that plane.
My work colleague lost his long time best friend, 30+ years of friendship. He made a surprise visit to my work colleague in Amsterdam. It's their last reunion.
Our school lost one of their student too.
They are in the better place now. Now, we can only pray for them.
Unforgiveable. So horrible how no one is being held accountable.
"Who gave them the corridor to fly through there."
+Fredrik Byström it was still slightly off course
lifthra Elon Musk hinted that planes could be remotely controlled...Potentially by an AI that was programmed to make money...
It was slightly off course due to a storm, but, still way above the airspace. No warnings were issued to the plane.
@lifthra No, there is no such system on Boeing 777.
It wasn't a crash or an incident.. it was murder.
Sending people to the crawling pilot for what?killing him so no one is left alive to tell the story?
Clearly, no lose ends, no survivors. One big dirty game of corruption.
The translation is slightly incorrect, he wasn’t actually alive. And he couldn’t have been according to the physics laws
Most likely it would've been an interrogation if the pilot was alive.
I doubt he was alive as the missile that brought down the plane hit in front of the cockpit
Imagine thinking that a pilot can survive a head to head missile hit
Still dont understand why commercial airplanes would fly over a fricking warzone
Because it was not a war zone. Yes, there's conflict, but it's often ground based fighting.
@@tiadaid It was a warzone a coup happened ha
