I just came back from Mongolia two weeks ago, and I can't stop watching Mongolia documentary until today. gonna visit Mongolia again for sure. Mongolia is so unique and wonderful.
Love from Malaysia.
In Trabzon / Turkey we have a dish called Kuymag. Its corn flour, a lot butter and atleast 3 different cheeses. When the butter is at the top, its done just like your Khailmag. As we come from Altai, there is a connection there.

Best valentine gift seeing Nargie back here 🤟
As an Indian I had no idea ghee is so integral to another culture as well that too a place so far away. Very nice. Yes, Ghee is by far the best form of fat to consume. It's mixture short and medium chain fatty acids unlike unhealthy modern refined oils.
Good luck to you and your country.
I just discovered this channel a couple of weeks ago. I've always wanted to find out more about Mongolian cuisine and culture. This channel is excellent!
Ghee is most extensively used in india. However the method of production is quite different here. 1st butter is churned out the "desi" way from full cream yoghurt or curd and then the butter is clarified by slow heating until all water is lost, leaving an aromatic, delicious desi ghee. Try it sometime. BTW awesome dessert. I'll try it, and Nargie, you've got some serious style man! 👍
The ghee here is the result of making khailmag. The ghee production itself is different.
They don’t produce ghee by making khailmag is what I wanted to say
Indian ghee is not pure
@@nabinrai4046 why ?
Not true. We also use cream/ Malai to extract ghee.

Today is a good day.
My ancestors migrated down from Mongolia many generations ago. Everything about Mongolian culture calls out to me.
Let me guess, youre hungarian
afghan?
northern indian?
american native?
kazakh?
kalmyk?
Awesome Chanel props from Illinois
Nargie always reminds me of how I crave my life to be. Appreciative and humble
Thanks for taking me back in time to my childhood in Pamirs in central Asia...we have a none sugar version of this...
Саламат /шанаhын зохэ/, очень питательная пища. Утром поел - целый день сытый. Спасибо хозяйке, приятная женщина.

The ghee for Mongols is like olive oil to Italians . Cant imagine the cuisine without it
I'm Italian and I make and use ghee 😂
True for India also.
@@zenith355 India discovered ghee before anybody else did . It is mentioned in the Shastras and in books of Ayurveda too .
So our ancestors were originally mongolian nomads who settled in the region where we are currently residing in and the similarity of the dishes that have survived for hundreds of years still surprises me even today.
That hard dairy thing, we call that "churpi"
I would love to go to mongolia!!!
Tashi delek! You are tibetan not mongolian
Same here in India we also value ghee very much...greatings from India👍
greetings from mongolia ❤️
@@Nomadistic thanks for reply🙂
You guys invented it.
@Googoo ga ga it's yo boi Baby Yoda That's not true, it is a proto indo European word.
@@Chad.Commenter Nope it is a Sanskrit word - Proto-Indo European isn't proven anyways.
Surviving in the middle of nowhere - amazing series!
We call khalimag mava or mawa in India it's literally the same thing and we also have ghee it's clarified butter I guess the silk road really did work 🇮🇳♥️🇲🇳
I need Nargie and The Hu to have a Mongolian feast episode, pretty please 😁
Wow Khailmah is almost similar to making Halwa in India and I didn't know that in Mongolia also cow butter is called Ghee. Love from India
IIRC Nargie calls it ghee to make it easier for non-Mongolian viewers to understand, the Mongolian name for it is "shar tosh"
Ghee as a medicinal treat. I love it.
Also I realized they don't need refrigerators in that area. They just have to put it outside to chill the food 🥶🥶🥶
i love him. he is like: due to the cold weather we gotta eat meat everyday but today i gotta eat my aaruul FIRST! hha
I wish I am one of Mongolian.. I love the way they live
My boy Nargie, blessed son under the great blue sky
Thanks for sharing all these beautiful videos for us, I am Mongol as well but my ancestors left Mongolia long time before nearly 800 years and still we have similar tradition. some words I still know when guys talking. anyway I am living in Aus now and want one day to see Mongolia. Thanks Hanif (Hazara)
I love every Mongolian family has. Solar power!!!! Goo Mongolia
Always love me some Nargie!!
Me too!!!
He is too adorable.
His enthusiasm is intoxicating and even though he looks pretty rough and warrior like, he always smiles and seems to be a very cool guy.
Always so positive and charismatic!
😍
"honey what are you doing?"
"i'm greasing up our kid's body with ghee"
I love this country. Hello from KZ.
I got to goto Mongolia and I really love it, hope to return one day!
Romania is here ! Nice work nice country nice people !
Reminds me of Turkish 'Kuymak' except that we use often corn flour and cheese on top of it
next week I'll be in Mongolia, I can't wait!
Any hints/tips or places I should see/visit?
It is fucking cold here, bring some warm clothes
Yes bring warm clothes. Wear two pairs of pants and a ski jacket!! And very very warm pants
Umm, tbh, it is not actually a very best time to visit Mongolia because of the coronavirus in China. We share borders with China and it is possible that many Chinese infected people had entered to our country or some merchants might’ve brought the virus. They closed down the schools, events and lunar new year, so, yeah. But I’d definitely encourage you to visit Mongolia in summer, i hope this virus will be gone before summer.
@@Yumyum9 The bad thing is that both my trip and tour are already paid for, is there any news about the ice festival? (will it be canceled aswell?)
@@anukaenkhbaatar970 Thankyou, I most definitely will!
In my opinion the foods that remind us of our childhood are always the best.
I can feel the emotions while you eat this. Food from our Childhood is the best! This got me Nostalgic for my own childhood and the foods I ate back then, McDonald's Pancakes with Sausage! We only got to eat it about 2 times a month, but it was one of the things I use to look forward to the most back then. These days, I rarely eat McDonald's, but when I do, it always takes me back to my childhood.
Love from India. In India we also call clarified butter as ghee :)
Nice but we call it shar tos. Ghee is used in the title because that Hindi word has become a thing to call it even in English
03:51 Nargie said "Are you having a good winter?" But I guess "How is your business" works too.
In Turkey we make it with butter and corn flour. But we eat it salty and call it Kuymak. And in western Turkey we make the sweety one with fresh cheese. We directly call this milk cream kaymak
Just started watching the vid. Blown away by the scenery
Great to see Nargie back. I hope a whole new season starts of these awesome videos
awesome, man! Just by watching you guys cooking it, my mouth is full of saliva
Ghee is a term from India, westerners are more familiar with the term clarified butter which is relatively inexpensive to make but most people are to lazy to fry the solids out of a block of butter so they spend two or three times more money to buy butter they could have made at home in less than 30 minutes.
hey man great to see your back!

GHee is also widely used in India, Pakistan and other Asian as well as Middle Eastern countries. I personally love ghee. True when you say that is has lots of health benefits. But what I learnt today from your video is that, Mongolians surely have excellent resource management skills. Making the fullest use of the abundant dairy produce without wastage (although a necessity because of the harsh weather conditions there), is extremely commendable.
In India, Ghee is a household item. And we call it 'Ghee' too. It's good in the cold winters. We would call Khalimag , Halwa in our country. We make it out of Flour, wheat flour and suji. Thanks for the lovely video.
What's up, ma dude! 😁 Greetings from Nagaland, India.
So I am from the mountains of nepal and we call that churpi!!
The music is amazing! Mad pros to the whoever works on the background music.
In Turkey we have basically the same thing but we call it 'Kaymak'. Awesome to see.
Good to see you as always!❤
There’s a similar Turkish food called Kuymak.
Ama kelime olarak KAYMAK - khailmag - demek istiyor.
Wow in the moment i start missing my childhood in mogolei what i never have
Hi man 👨 i am 🇮🇳 from Tamilnadu i like ❤ your food 🍴🍕🍔🍱🍜 you also foodie 😁😁😁
Khalmgud like khailmag🇷🇺
Ooh, how i miss you Nargie 🤩 I love khailmag too... 😋
Just love your program, mongolia is on my bucket list to visit. But I'm I'll an mostly will only get there in my minds eye. Love you, Nargie!!! As a dear friend!!!
We Indian accumulate milk cream for a week & make ghee.. First we churn the whole cream with some water to seprate butter from mattha ( white liquid leftover during cream churning.. We drink mattha in summer season ) . The butter is then heated to form Ghee..during the process the leftover brown yellow product is also delicious edible ( add
tiny amount of salt & eat it with chapati)...
Absolutely brilliant. Yummm...
We have something very similar in Romania but instead of flour we use corn flour, and we add also some sheep chesse
MAMALİGA!!!
@@qmsarmi no,that is something different
Looks delicious, I'd love to try it some time!

Wow great video - really interesting to see this Mongolian recipe, especially since it has ghee. Who doesn''t like ghee. In Gujarat, India we have a similar dish called Sheera which can be made using different flours, ghee, sugar or jaggery and also some spices.

I imagine this is like a cheese brulee, right?
Okay khailmag is called pheshen in our language!! Used to eat it a lot as a kid

If bob marley was there, he'd say Stir it up. Little darling stir it up
khailmag tengri that’s one good food my grandma makes it only during the tsaagan shar It is soo good but my grandmother only make it once because she said people tsasic aldig and that’s why my grand mother only makes on tsaagan shar.
You should try Bangladeshi dairy products
Missed u bro. Need regular videos
I'm American and I use a lot of ghee for frying things (it doesn't burn since the milk solids are out of it) but I make mine, a college friend of mine from India taught me how to make it. The commercial stuff has an ''off-taste''.
Nargie is the coolest 👍 Rock on brother!
nargie ' much love and respect from 🇺🇸 ! To all Mongolian peoples
Bayarlalaa. Thank you
Your back bro ❤️❤️
Nargie, yay!
It looks so goood to me
Impressionant
1:27 As far as I can see traditionally there’s no Mongolian alcoholic beverage. Only healthy food. There’s always a calcium strong food to support their teeth. Living a stress free natural way of life is healthy.
actually there is traditional alcohol drink
Nice 😃
