We need the Xiaomi Air Purifier Max in Europe, it goes up to 700 cadr for particles and 400 for VOCs, its literally one of the best air purifiers on the market for the price point of £250 in Asian markets. The 2024 edition even goes up to 900 cadr and 600 for formalhyde
I think you can unscrew the top bit to clean the fan. I haven't done it yet on our unit but will look to make a video when I do. Be sure to let me know how you get on with it.
I bought the Xiaomi 4 Pro, and it doesn’t have the noise issue in night mode or auto mode that you mentioned. My regular Xiaomi 4 (non-Pro) also runs quietly, so it seems like your unit might be defective. You could check with Xiaomi to see if they can fix it.
Will have to get another device to compare as someone else on here said it could be the sensor they use in the pro 4. Will speak to Xiaomi, thanks for letting me know.
That sound is from the air quality monitor, it has a small fan. I removed it and blew air through it and it sorted the issue. I have several of these at my residence in New Delhi.
Interesting and thanks for letting me know. I know some sensors use fans so this makes a lot of sense. Would be great to have a way to disable this as night as I don’t need the sound and would be happy to lose auto mode function when sleeping.
If the negative ions are disabled, does it affect the CADR? If not, then what's the difference if its turned off? And does it still ozone when its off?
So no ozone when it's off. For this device I estimate the ionizer at top speed adds an additonal 64 cfm of CADR. This is quite a bit more than what we see with other devices we have tested so can assume the ionzer is more powerful/effective than in models from Coway, Winix or Alen.
Hi there, I am very allergic to dog hair and I have a labrador that constantly sheds. I'm torn between XiaoMi Pro 4 and Levoit 400s. Is that any air purifer that you would recommend? Thank you
For a shedding dog I would look at a rectangular design as you can a removable pre-filter. So devices like the Winix 5500-2, Coway Might 200M, Coway 250...etc As dog hair will build up on the filter and something removal is a bit easier. The XiaoMi Pro 4 and Levoit 400s will both do a good job with the allergens from your dog.
Yes the 4 Pro has a good amount of activated carbon and ioinzer that will help with these smells. It should also quickly kick into high speed if it detects higher levels of particles in the air.
Not tested the 1000i but the Xiaomi is a lot more powerful so you could run on a much lower speed for the same performance as the Philips 1000i. The only downside is the strange whine I could hear on sleep mode with the 4 pro.
Big question, you said you tested this in Speed 1, Speed 2 and Max? Does this mean the manual max , or Speed 3, as manual max 60 seems to be considerably faster than just Speed max
I just used the speeds I could access from the main display. Will play around with the app to see if I can get a higher speed using those controls - thanks for making me aware.
@@HouseFresh I think the results will be a lot different. Speed 3 only uses approximately 24.5W without ionizer, with full manual I've tested the usage to 43W, might even be worth making a short follow up video. Strange how speed 3 isn't equal to manual max, I've also noticed this with the smaller xiaomi air purifier
The OEM filters are quite expensive here in my country. I'd need to use generic filters. In that case, is the Xiaomi Pro 4 still a good choice compared to the Levoit Vital 200s or the Winix 5500-2?
You do get more power at lower sound levels with the Xiaomi and its smart features are better. I tested generics and they work a little less effective but there are so many available on market places like Alie express.
Does fresh air blower (xiaomi mate A1 for example) work similar to air purifier? Im still pretty confuse between fresh air blower and air purifier, but everyone I know said that fresh air blower is just better in general. What do you think?
Sounds like a combo unit so fan and air purifier mode usually less cadr for $ than going with a separate air purifier. But not tested or looked at that specific device .
@@HouseFresh Xiaomi has 3 of them. Xiaomi lomediqi, SmartMi and Xiaomi mate A1 which they called them fresh air blower. They work like a ventilation system (or air ventilation). If you unplug the xiaomi lomediqi from the tube (which connect to the outside air), it can become an air purifier. But I can't find any video testing them properly. Still hope someone test it and find out if they really can clean air. Personally, i love these fresh air blower (or ventilation system) because they reduce CO2 from closed place, which gave me both fresh air and a good sleep, and the price of them are affordable. But still, I found no real test
Thanks for video , I would love to ask you , Philips Air Purifier AC1715/10 and Xiaomi smart air purifier 4 pro , are in sale in my country now, almost the same price, can’t choose for 40m/sq studio apartment , what would you recommend 👀🫣❤️
You do get a lot more CADR with the Xiaomi for the same money so I would be tempted to choose the 4 Pro as you could run it at a lower fan speed and still clean as much air. Be sure to let me know how you get on with it.
Xiaomi is the best seller in air purifier market in China. I estimate that they takes 50% of the profit of the whole industry. Their products are very competitive and the brand is super famous. My ambition is to build models that can defeat Xiaomi in all perspectives.
Have tested the smaller one a few years back but not created video: housefresh.com/ikea-fornuftig-review/ Overall I felt it was too underpowered. Excited to look at the bigger Starkvind very soon.
There is AHAM and energystar that share clean air delivery rate which is a lab based test for removing pollen, smoke and smoke. My tests are easily repeatable by anyone with incense stick and purpleair zen sensors. Most air purifier can clean a room but some are quick and some are super slow (more than 4 hours.) Happy to provide more information.
Yes I do want to at some point as very popular. I did see this thread over at Reddit that didn't seem super posistive: www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/comments/1byi67h/anyone_try_the_sans_air_purifier/
If you had to choose between this and the Levoit Core 600S which do you think you'd go for? I realise the price is quite different but based on performance.
Unless there is a way to disable the sound from the sensor I would choose the 600S as would want to use in my bedroom. Both are great performers for the money but the whine of the sensor would make me go for Levoit, even though I do prefer the design of the 4 Pro.
Someone on here said that was the cause of the sound at low levels so can assume its one of the newer particle sensors that are usually very good. Will compare with PurpleAir Zen and Airgradient indoor when I put the web version together and will drop a link here when its live.
Hey pal, Think it's worth testing the Xiaomi Air Purifier Compact 4? It may be the new value king. It's only £50 right now with black friday from the Xiaomi site, and whilst it's not hepa, I've noticed that there are third party Hepa filters available from Amazon, or true hepa filters available from Amazon US! Could be an absolute bargain for small rooms as it has a 230 CADR, which should be good for rooms up to 340 squared feet. Of course using a True Hepa I'm presuming will reduce the air flow, but I believe it could still cover potentially the average 140 square feet of a normal average UK bedroom. Weirder still is it's advertised as True Hepa in the US, but the filters listed on Amazon UK seem to say Merv 8. It's a very confusing situation.
I doubt any will be fake as not useful but likely will be different grades of particle filter /carbon which can have effect in performance from particle and odors removal.
@ mine shall reach in 3 days. Let me know if you need some information. Am home user as ND my Apollo air 1 will reach in 2 weeks so can't access the air quality for external monitor
Some people say it can cause them allergy like issues as so like to avoid. But for those with healthy lungs it shouldn't pose a problem as most modern versions don't release large levels of ozone.
Interestingly, Smart Air in their marketing materials claims that Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro is 2.2 times louder than their SA600 on high speed. Yet, in your test SA600 is louder than Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro.
I am about to review the latest 5 speed model of the SA600 so will make sure to provide a comparison with the Xiaomi 4 Pro. Not sure how Smart Air measured their sound but I had 51.3 dBA at 3ft away at top speed vs 56.7 dBA for the SA600.
@@HouseFresh At 6:42 it looks like the sound meter shows about 51.3 dBA at level 3 speed of the Xiaomi 4 Pro. This might be not the max speed for this device. Not yet but will add to the list. Do you have it, any feedback you can share?
But is it true that there is a negative ion generator in the xiaomi. Or is it just a fake?
It does use an ionizer and seems fairly strong based on my test with and without it. You can disable it via the app if you prefer.
I have an open kitchen. It bothers me that the smell of food spreads throughout the house. Is it recommended to eliminate food smells?
Yes the 4 Pro has a good amount of activated carbon and ioinzer that will help with these smells. It should also quickly kick into high speed if it detects higher levels of particles in the air.
