The unboxing was enough to get me excited. Found a Ocean Turquoise Metallic Marilyn on Reverb and now its on its way to my house. 7.5 lbs, 32"scale and sounds like a Music man.....oh my.
I like the fact that they used white dots instead of black on the roasted maple fretboard. Black ones tend to get lost on the darker boards. Sounds really good.
Agree 100%. I got rid of a Sterling ray35 with roasted maple and black inlays as I couldn’t see it well at all. It was also my first 5 string so I was all over the place. I see Sire doing the same with lighter dots on their roasted necks.
I have the Offbeat Priscilla bass. 34” scale, pine body, rosewood fingerboard, passive electronics (volume and tone), EMG Geezer Butler split pickups. What a wonderful bass, a very lightweight and responsive bass. I was looking for a simple, but unique bass, boy did I find it. This thing sits so well within a mix! I love the distressed look that doesn’t look like the typical relict bass. Do yourself a favor and check them out! Their guitars look great also. Thanks for the review Lobster!
The finish is great! Even if it looks like a tractor ran over it. I think it’s wild and really dig the feel of the pine the team has been sourcing. I am officially over anyone using “warmoth” necks as a snide remark. The roast maple feels perfect. I wasn’t seeking an MM PU as I prefer j-j for a daily player, but the mid contour lets me get that bridge-leaning J tone with some extra lows on demand. I put some nyxl 45-100s on it. They’re softer and lower tension than the originals. Took only a couple minutes to tweak the intonation and the lower neck tension made the string height perfect for me without buzz. I’m starting an order now on a 32” Fretless to match and really happy with it!
I'm glad we finally got to see you play this! I think Offbeat goes a little overboard with the relicking, but I won't lie and say they're ugly basses or anything. It's pretty cool that they make such high-quality and unique short-medium scales for a somewhat reasonable price. I hope they can start gaining more of a following; I'd love to see more people play them!
Super cool! Went to go check them out and see what they had in 5 string... Nothing. My current project requires that low B string for a lot of the stuff we do. Bummer...
Looks like something that could give Serek a run for its money (literally, in terms of price). I know people love Serek, but I owned a couple of custom made ones and they both had quality control issues that shouldn't have existed on a $3000 dollar bass. This Marilyn model looks very tempting and love the sound from your demo.
I think that this looks pretty promising as an alternative to the EBMM Stingray if you're looking for a U.S-made alternative and I like the medium scale design, the idea of the Jazz-style neck, but I went to look through the listings and offerings in the Reverb link that you provided and it doesn't appear to be linked to your Reverb storefront. It defaults to the main page of Reverb.
Thanks! The link goes to the Reverb main page, and anything you buy from there contributes an extremely small amount to the channel. I have my reverb storefront linked farther down in the description, but it's currently empty (most things sell within 24-48 hrs). The best way to keep track of what I'm selling or about to sell is through my Discord channel also linked in the description. We've built a great community!
Very cool looking and great sounding bass!!! You should try one of the Musicvox basses, they are super cool and great sounding too. I have a Musicvox Space Cadet USB short scale bass and it sounds fantastic!!! 👍😊👍
Really cool to see you do a couple of videos on Offbeat. They’ve been on my radar for a while now, but there isn’t a ton of content related to them. Glad to hear you have a strong first impression! Just out of curiosity, is this a “true” 32”’scale length, like the Squier Jaguar H, or is this a 32” with a full sized neck and the bridge moved closer to the neck? I have short baby arms, and I’ve found that a true 32” scale is the perfect middle ground between playability while still keeping decent string tension. Thanks for all you do!
Very cool bass indeed although personally, I would've chosen a black pickup cover (not into white ones) but this is a minor detail given that the bass' looks are stunning. I love the retro vibe and the scalloping on the body. The pine body seems resonant giving some mid-punch to the sound. I'm greatly looking forward to the review - tantalising!
First and foremost - sorry for your loss. Those little purring furry darlings are family members. As for the bass - it looks cool and sounds nice. I'm not a fan of EMGs but it's definitely interesting.
This reminds me of the whole "stone washed" jeans fad. They expect me to pay twice the price for bass that looks like it's been rode hard and kicked around a lot. Aint gonna happen. What's wrong with buying a "NEW" bass and wearing it in yourself?
I appreciate your take Ron. What I dig about these is that they weather the hardware, but there's no relicing on the finish. The poly/oil mix seems robust and high quality and none of that 'let's hit it with a belt and charge more money' BS. It gives the vibe of 'old but cared for' instead of 'we put this in the tumble dryer before assembling'.
Don't love that pickup. I've actually had one installed on a 5 string. That being said it's a super cool instrument, and would be super interested in the same thing with a more traditional pickup
Sorry for your loss..
Thanks David

Congrats! Enjoy it :)
Yowza, that's my kind of different and sounds really good. Thanks Lobster!
i'm a sucker for weird basses, this one is so awesome
That's a very cool-looking bass with a SERIOUS Sting Ray vibe!!!!!!!! Very impressive!!! If had my eyes closed, I'd swear that was a Sting Ray!!!
Thanks for this video review! I've been curious about offbeat for a while as they look so beautiful

Very cool. I wish more bass companies would make 32" scale basses.
Beautiful and sounds great! Can’t wait for the full review of this Offbeat guitar!
I just came across Offbeat on Reverb and really liked the style of them. Glad your doing a review of one!
I'm looking forward for the review , nice looking bass .
Very cool bass. I have the EXB in my custom Nessie paired with EMG DC35. The low end crushes with the control. Glad you’re back!
Thanks Bassman! I dig the EXB a lot. I'll be using it in some mods in teh future after this!
That's one snappy little bass. Can't wait to hear the review. I think it's gonna be quite a surprise over the normal stuff.
I think it sounds very, very nice. The looks are also great.
Beautiful wood - looks gorgeous. Really distinctive.
Ooooohhhh just got to the end of the vid - it sounds amazing! Stingray +
Very clear and articulate tone
looks wicked ! and sounds pretty damn good too !
That thing sounds amazing
I’ve never heard of these before and now I want one :-)
I like the styling of that bass. Looks really nice, can't wait for the full review.

Ha! Bought this bass before you could post your review!
Congrats! It's such a good bass

Looks fun
Excited for the in depth
Very nice!! Has a real stingray tone, love the look and that neck and headstock is sik!!!
Bass sounds great!

That's really a very nice sounding bass. Would love to hear their Jackie-O SC model ....
I like the fact that you tuned it to E flat right after I was thinking "that's an E flat bass for me!"
Super cool! Went to go check them out and see what they had in 5 string... Nothing. My current project requires that low B string for a lot of the stuff we do. Bummer...
Love it!

Very nice tone.
they make some cool stuff using warmoth ss necks and light pine bodies.

Thank you! Great question. It's a true 32" scale neck from warmoth

I think I’ve found my new bass!
Aye! lovely
Exb does rule. Looking forward to review
Spendy, not sure I couldn’t get a USA Fender Elite in that range. Very nice looking though.
My Sincere Condolences on the loss of your family member!!! I have two cats as well! God Bless You and Yours
Thanks Paul
Anytime my friend!!!
Please elaborate on the EMGs in your full review?
I dig it!
I have a Jazz bass with the emg EXB and I will never sell that guitar. EXB rules indeed!
Does the bass have a graphite neck stabilizer rod ? Let us know when U have a full review. Thx Lobster.
slick looking rig.. do you get to keep it??
This sounds like competition for the Short Scale Stingray.
Sweet body on that thing. Great first impression.
I think that is very odd ( but cool) looking bass , its nice to have a good tone control on a active bass .
Me likes so far ! The look of it reminds me of "Paoletti".
Looks a lot like an Alpher Guitars Mako model.
First and foremost - sorry for your loss. Those little purring furry darlings are family members.
As for the bass - it looks cool and sounds nice. I'm not a fan of EMGs but it's definitely interesting.
where are these basses made?
USA
I’m so sorry about your loss, my cat was also taken recently from the C word. 🙁 stay strong man.
Hey Lobster do you have any experience with Sperzel's locking bass tuners? If so, how did you like them?
Woo! That's purdy 😂😂😂

Sounds nice. So sorry for losing your little one.As a big time cat lover they bring so much to my life but losing one is almost unbearable.
It matches your pj pants lol
Wow crazy looking, not feeling the pick guard
have you ever seen/played the Verdine White signature Ibanez? It has a very unique pick guard lol
At first glance I thought it was a dimension bass
Bass has some growl...
My condolences for your kitty 😿
is nobody gonna comment on the sick GamersNexus shirt
GN is a big inspiration to the channel. Steve is the man
🦀🦀🦀🦀
Very nice sound. It's sort of ugly but pretty at the same time ....I'm confused =¬)
Sorry you lost your companion Lobster.
Clearly Marilyn Manson, not Monroe…
🤢
