I love this. I like to heat the vinyl with a blow dryer and then let it cool. It helps the adhesive stick better. It keeps the etching cream from leaking under the vinyl.
I had to let you know..I started cricut as a hobby and watched you from day one. I was cruising youtube and found you. Because of you and what a awesome teacher you are I have been able to move into a small business style. I can't say how much I'm thankful that you take time out to teach others. You have a gift and you are using it amazingly!! I know this is a older video because I watch yours on my free time at night lol..thank you and "keep doing you boo!" Thank you thank you!
I love how thorough you are with your instructions/ all the steps. I wish I had known last week about creating the template and clicking slice 🤦🏾♀️ Thank you for sharing this video ❤
Love this! I've been etching for years and use a popsicle stick, spread it on over the design one time and let it sit for 10 minutes then rinse. No problems and you don't risk moving the design. 😉
Great as always . Newbies using etching cream, always make sure not to accidentally move of the vinyl when moving cream around . ( learned through my own mistake). Happy crafting.
I etched a black Dollar Tree mug back in July! Looked great! I like to put my mugs in the microwave to heat up coffee and hot cocoa, so I do not like using vinyl..... etching was a great option!
Question...Doesn't etching remove the glaze on the mug so it's not waterproof anymore right? I love this idea. I know I've had some plates that the glaze cracked & even though I hand washed them they still had water get into the ceramic.
Oh My Goodness! I’m so so Glad I found you 🥰 I got Cricut in 2020 and it is still in box ☹️ Once I got it Opened box and got so much anxiety I put it back in box and away in my closet. You make it so easy to use Explain everything step by step that I will be bringing my Cricut out Today 😁 Thank you so much🥰
You have no idea!! I was just thinking about making stencils to use to decorate sugar cookies for my wedding!! I didn't know about the slicing thing! You saved me a ton of time and stress thank you 😊
I use a similar method but keep the stencil on after rinsing off the etching cream. Then i can airbrush colour shift on to it and remove stencil. Bake in a low oven 24 hrs later and that can go through the dishwasher too.
You are truly the best teacher! Cricut has been my favorite thing to hate and love at the same Time but recently You have made me truly love creating!!! You’re a great teacher so many fun projects thank you for doing these vids for us!
Another tip: I use nail scissors to snip small bumps that you may be afraid you didn't smooth down enough, then re-smooth them down. I haven't has any issues since I started doing that!
Wow!! I had seen the etch on glass, but this is absolutely SPECTACULAR!! Thanks as always for your detailed explanation...you are simply the BEST!!! 😍😍
i like this idea. i learnt when doing glasses to put a thick layer of cream on, leave it for 5 min or so then move it around a bit more and let it rest. u can scrape the cream off and put it back into the bottle. it leaves a nice even looking etch and its difficult to see a good sand blasted image to the cream
Michael, I love that you give credit where credit is due and give people shoutouts. I'm so excited to try this! I wanted to do some custom Dollar Tree soup mugs and this could be the best option to do so!
Great video! Just have one question -- did you wipe off the screen printing ink right away after applying? Thanks for expanding my horizons on what I can do with Armor Etch.
Hi, I'm a total NOOB with the at home machines (i have a Cameo 4) I used to work in the custom car field and noticed that I haven't noticed anyone using a heat gun and/or hairdryer to aid in getting the decals to conform to oddly shaped items.. anyway.. if you feel like an experiment give it a try.. just apply the decal as usual and after you remove the transfer tape lightly go over it with a heat gun/hairdryer and you'll be surprised how well it works.. (just give me a shout out if it works for you as well as it does for me) :)
I love this.....stencil and etch. Easy peasy. I loved when you put on the safety glasses. I work with elderly... when I put on the "getup" for covid they do not know who I am!!!
Hello,, do you have a video not just explaining the difference between each cutting blade but also witch ones work best for detailed designs on Vinyl, please let me know thanks
I absolutely ADORE EVERY SINGLE video that you’ve ever done! I appreciate how detailed you are through each step of your projects without getting bogged down. Your videos just have such a nice flow to them! I’m a member of your website and just love it!
love your hair. it may have looked like this for a long time, but I figured out what was different you don't have a hat, you look great with out a hat as well!!!
1:45 am here in England x should be asleep but can’t help but watch mr crafty pants x 💜 watching your videos x so informative xxx just wish I had a better places to buy supplies and vinyls and omg wish I had a dollar tree here but we have the pound shop / poundland x but no where near as good x
Ive been using the rub 'n buff cream after etching my items, but now I'll give the speedball screen printing paint a try. Thank you so much for your content is extremely helpful to me crafters like myself.
I am new to your channel as well as to crafting with my Cricut Maker 3. I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I am learning so much from watching your videos, your detailed explanations, and the tips you provide. Keep them coming.....
I have been wondering about this for quite some time because I have a few of the Dollar Tree mugs. I kept thinking that SOMEONE would try it! Thanks for posting this!
I wondered about heat and water. If this is for screen printing it should be able to handle that so a shirt can be washed and dried. The temps to set it seem to be 275-375 degrees. So I am thinking if I put them in a cold oven and then set it to a temperature in that range. It should set so it can go in the dishwasher. My guess is 10-15 mins once it reaches temperature
I’m so glad I found you. I wanted to etch on ceramic and didn’t know what to do different from etching on glass. My cups turned out better than I expected. Being cheap instead of using parchment paper I use the sheet that comes off the transfer sheet. Thank you.

you can always heat set the speedball ink in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees to make it dishwasher and hand wash safe
do you have to use a non food oven to do this?
I love this. I like to heat the vinyl with a blow dryer and then let it cool. It helps the adhesive stick better. It keeps the etching cream from leaking under the vinyl.
Omg, that's a great idea.
Thank you for sharing that
So grateful you shared that tip, thanks so much!!!
Great tip! Thanks for sharing. What heat setting do you use?
Awesome idea!

Happy crafting.
Could you use acrylic paint or permanent markers instead of screen print ink?
I etched a black Dollar Tree mug back in July! Looked great! I like to put my mugs in the microwave to heat up coffee and hot cocoa, so I do not like using vinyl..... etching was a great option!

Same! Made my first design this week following the directions - a name on a tumbler. Thanks Michael.
You have no idea!! I was just thinking about making stencils to use to decorate sugar cookies for my wedding!! I didn't know about the slicing thing! You saved me a ton of time and stress thank you 😊
Ok, quick question: Is that the Speedball FABRIC Screen Printing Ink or the Speedball ACRYLIC Screen Printing Ink?
I use a similar method but keep the stencil on after rinsing off the etching cream. Then i can airbrush colour shift on to it and remove stencil. Bake in a low oven 24 hrs later and that can go through the dishwasher too.
Love the tip to add slits to the bottom of the stencil. So helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Ahhhhh using slice makes so much more sense than reverse weeding! 😁👏👏
Learned something new. Did not know you could etch on a coffee mug! Game changer! Thank you for your crafting ideas!!!!
This is coming right on time just got a order for 50 wine glasses to be etched.
Who knew Armor Etch would work on ceramic!! Trying this TODAY!!!
Right. I just thought it worked on glass and metal
Thx, Michael. You make crafting with cut files & numerous media SO accessible, love you for your generosity, creativity & excellent teaching skills.

You are a life saver. I'm a beginner, so I'm glad I found this channel. That quote is funny. You explain things great.
Thanks alot
Thanks for the tip on how to add color to the darker color mugs.
Fiskars is a wonderful company! They stand behind every product. If you ever have an issue, talk to them. They will make it right!!!
I’ve etched these mugs before but never thought of using screen printing ink.. game changer. Thank you.
Oh my Goodness, I can't get over how much I am loving the missing

Now I have to go back to the dollar tree to get some ceramic mugs!! Love this!!
Michael, I love that you give credit where credit is due and give people shoutouts.

Great video! Just have one question -- did you wipe off the screen printing ink right away after applying? Thanks for expanding my horizons on what I can do with Armor Etch.
I need to know this too! How long was the ink on for please???
This is a great tutorial; I've working on etching mugs & this is helping me to see a much better way especially with the speedball ink.

I love your easy to follow demonstration. I especially loved your shopping tips. Thanks!
What kind of Speedball screen printing ink did you use...on Amazon there is for fabric and acrylic? Thanks.😀
I'm wondering the same thing and also wondering if it will wash off or if it's permanent

Love the no hat look!
I had not thought of using etching cream on ceramic mugs. I am so excited to try this!
Which speedball screen printing ink did you? Amazon has two different kinds.

love your hair. it may have looked like this for a long time, but I figured out what was different you don't have a hat, you look great with out a hat as well!!!
I was thinking the same thing!
I can’t locate the ink link in the description. Can you tell us what type of ink it is from speedball? Acrylic or fabric ink?
I promise I'm not watching the video more than once just to see you in the glasses. Oh My!
Hi Michael I have found your videos very informative your literally my new teacher I find you very interesting and your such a light in this world ✨💛
Where did you get the speedball screen printing ink? I saw some on Amazon but it said for fabric?

Michael, did you try heating the mug after using the speedball ink to see if it would "set" the ink like it does on shirts?
What about using the silver rub and buff?
Thank you again for another great video.... and you looked handsome wearing your safety glasses.
Wow, that's so amazing and sounds so easy to do. I love your videos.
I really enjoy your videos and always learn something valuable. Thank you!!!
Ive been using the rub 'n buff cream after etching my items, but now I'll give the speedball screen printing paint a try. Thank you so much for your content is extremely helpful to me crafters like myself.
@Tamiko Witcher, Did you try the Speedball Ink? Was it Acrylic, fabric, etc? Any tips?
@@robvasquez79 No I haven't used the speedball ink as of yet.
I don’t see the link below for the speedball screen printing ink. I’m not sure which one to get.
Thanks
Love your videos and your energy/passion for everything cricut
I noticed you were particularly handsome today and didn't understand why. Then I got it...no hat! Looking great Michael!!😍
Awesome😀 I am going to try this on my red mug. Thanks
I am new to your channel as well as to crafting with my Cricut Maker 3. I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I am learning so much from watching your videos, your detailed explanations, and the tips you provide. Keep them coming.....

Thank you for all the great information you give us. Love your enthusiasm.
Thanks for watching!
What was the screen printing ink used? Thank you.
I have some Armor etch paste and have never used it. Thanks for the tutorial. I think I will try it now.
Bought the same mug to etch. Perfect timing for this video
I would like to see you how to color an item after etching
I have been wondering about this for quite some time because I have a few of the Dollar Tree mugs. I kept thinking that SOMEONE would try it! Thanks for posting this!
Thank you so much! I am new to Cricut and I’m looking forward to learning more. You are a great teacher!
I'm new to the Cricut world and have a Glowforge as well. Your videos are fantastic! You have a new friend.
I cannot wait to try this! I has just ordered some etch cream! The speedball tip is the bomb! Thx!
In two videos I’ve learned some awesome tips. Ty!!!
Thanks Michael, another great video. Can't wait to try this, who doesn't love a coffee mug!
Love me Dollar and quarter Store, can't wait start etching. Thanks Michael.
I was wondering if you can add color to the etch? I love your tutorials!
Thank you!
He did that with the speedball screen printing ink
Thank you for everything you do! I'm staying crafty!
I think this would be a good way to use up scrap vinyl.
Thank you! By the way you look so much handsome without your cap on!!!
I’m so glad I found you. I wanted to etch on ceramic and didn’t know what to do different from etching on glass. My cups turned out better than I expected. Being cheap instead of using parchment paper I use the sheet that comes off the transfer sheet. Thank you.
Going to try this one. Thanks Michael
Omg no hat!!! I love it
