I play in Euro Plat as Engineer and I've noticed that with others, we have kind of a science behind how we do things. Would you say you have your own things that go on mentally as you play? I personally see it like Engineer is the Commander. His Teles lead where to go, Dispenser is where you want your allies to be (or even to prevent Spies from being near) and your Sentry is where your territory extends to.
Regarding that last clip... Sigafoo, I really do admire that engineering. I really do. That was some damn quick thinking and I doubt many others could have done what you did. However, this kind of just goes to show how OP the Wrangler is. I mean, the Ubercharge was expressly designed to be able to take out sentries. I don't think that any one weapon, or combo of weapons from one class, should be able to make a sentry survive a point-blank assault from the most straight-up damaging class in the game, who happens to be invulnerable, with the only true downside (assuming the engie's team is competent, as I would assume a Plat Highlander team to be) being the loss of a PISTOL.
you can see that in one of the first clips the same thing happens in the same scenario. they would have easily taken the sentry in the last clip, but the demoman decided to bang on the sentry instead of attacking the engie to stop him from healing. and, let's be honest, it was really the healing that did it.

And while a demo could have killed the engie and sentry with splash damage, the heavy can't due to his bullets not having penetration. (Yes, I know that they could have ubered in the demo, but chances are that he was dead and the team was trying to save precious time- Highlander payload is run on stopwatch format, after all). But still, the heavy deals out 500+ DPS at point blank range. No sentry should be able to survive that purely due to a single weapon and some healing (Don't give me the crap about healing. If the shield from the Wrangler hadn't been there the sentry would have gone down, with or without healing from the engie).
Daniel Kemp okay- obviously, you either didn't understand what i meant to convey, or i typed it vaguely. there was a demo behind the heavy and medic in the last clip, yes? instead of going ham on the sentry like he did, the demo should have tried to kill the engineer behind the sentry while his team covered him. the wrangler itself is strong to being borderline good enough to be used in any loadout, but the combo of the wrangler with the burst healing of the rescue ranger and normal wrench whacking is a bit too strong. let me reiterate; that was good engineering, but it was NOT solely due to the wrangler that the sentry was still up, but also due to the fact the engineer was alive. competitive play is all about capitalizing on the mistakes of your enemies and exploiting it, which is exactly what sigafoo did by healing the sentry while still being alive.
But that's not all you lose. In order to be able to pull off this kind of play, you have to ditch your shotty *and* your pistol, leaving you with only your sentry and your wrench to provide reliable damage. I'm a pretty good shot with the rescue ranger, but I would not trust my life to being able to kill someone with it. It just doesn't put out the damage I need.
