Slow Ride - Foghat / Mia Morris /full version drum cover/ Nashville Drummer, Musician, Songwriter

- Slow Ride - Take it Easy… I heard this song two weeks ago on a classic rock radio station and I loved how it felt like a concert. It’s got dueling guitars, bass solos, break downs, screaming high vocal parts… What’s not to love?!! It even has a race to the end with a tempo climb, (which is particularly difficult to match the record as you never really know when the next bpm is coming.)
So when I got home, I started pulling up videos and there just really isn’t much out there of the band playing the song. I found some live footage of when they were quite a bit older and it looked like the drummer might be using a double kick pedal, but who knows if that’s how it was recorded so I had more fun trying to do all of the really great kick work with just one foot.
I’m 14 years old and I want to be a musician when I grow up. I’ve played many instruments but the one that I feel at home on is a drum set. Drums have always felt natural to me somehow even when I was very young and even though I play lots of other instruments, it’s generally just an excuse to get to eventually record a drum track. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great song writer so I also spend some of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting along the way. I thought it would help me keep focused if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.

Great drumming Mia! Thanks for choosing our song....and for the compliment! Keep on rockin!- Roger Earl
WHAAAT??? Alright, it's the internet so I may be getting trolled but I don't care. I would LOVE to think that Roger Earl just sent me a comment so I'm gonna pin this bad boy until someone crushes my thrill. Thank you man!!! I love how you use space, just as much as you use notes to create an awesome feel :D Ha Ha! - Yo Roger :)
@ MM Way to go Mia.
Thanks Foghat you guys Rock🎼😎
Damn.. You got Foghat to comment.. Holy shit!!
@@miamorrismusic My sources say "legit." That's a BINGO!
I'm in my 60's and i teach at a high school. None of the teenage girls in my classes know anything but current pop, hip hop, and obscenity laced rap.. Sometimes I play rock videos on the smart board when they come in to class, but they think it's weird or ignore it..1960 through 1990 music doesn't exist as far as they're concerned. I weep for the future. You are so talented and like REAL music. Ballroom Blitz blew me away. Keep it up, Mia!
Ha! I am just a few years behind you and also teach high school. I play a lot of 70's music for them. They usually don't say much, but I've noticed that there aren't too many objections because I think deep down they realize just how good the music actually is to listen to. Now to be fair, I don't really do a lot of hard rock like this, but just this morning I was playing some Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles.
Well gents I'm 63 I announce football game's plus play music and it's 70's and 80's rock. Nothing else matters 👍✌️
Don’t worry as dads mothers know and hopefully will steer them, away from technology..not a bad thing just roots mean more. Than the now…what we have to teach 😊. Don’t worry as this generation’s talent will be awesome.
Teach them the spf rule and cbgb typographic cedilia. All p and f are typographic errors diverging from s. Slow ride, flouride, take it easy...
God Damn! I just ran across this video and have so much more appreciation for what talent it takes to be a drummer. I've always loved Foghat starting in the seventies. Young lady, you rock!
Right?!! ♥️
Even some of us old fogies who grew up with this song know talent and when we hear it keep on drumming mia
This one isn’t exactly the Black Page
At 64 foghat was some of the best concerts of my youth. This has me digging out those old albums, yes I still have all of my vinyl the original releases not reprints and at least 3 turntables to play them on. Keep classic rock alive. Best drumming ever in sync to the original track.
wow! how could 519 people give this thumbs down? I have played the drums for 45 years and I think that you totally rock Miss Mia. I love your passion and how you make it look so easy and not even missing one beat. You and Sina have a wonder future ahead of you. Rock on sweetheart.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I hope I can do just that.
Dave Snyder I, agree! Foghat even loved it and shared it on their page!!! (The thumbs down) people have been TRYING to play a fraction as good as Mia does!!! And can't and never will! 😉🤣
Dave Snyder
Others that are jealous
gave her thumbs down.
Only explanation.
Anyone who would give a thumbs down to your performance, is clearly full of themself and obviously "JEALOUS!!!" I'd like to hear you rock the whole "Foghat/ Fool for the City" album , twice and then start over!!! 😁👍 In all seriousness though, "YOU ROCK 🎸!!!"
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
One year later and this cover was still damn good! Great job.
Her confidence has improved so much it is evident in her music.
Thank you 🙏 Mia my wife and I are 61yrs of age We have been together 45yrs and slow ride is one ☝️ of our favorites from back in the day. We wish you the best life has to offer. You deserve it 👧😀
That is very kind and I think it's amazing that you've spent your lives together, thank you.
Kennith sir, those are very kind words you've used to compliment her.
Take it slow bro.
@@sergioamayajr.5868 I agree with you
We need this kind of music back the music today sucks great job . How about molly Hatchett??
Holy crap!! Foghat higher this girl for your backup I've heard this song many times it's like listening to it in the studio she didn't miss a freaking beat. The girls got talent, somebody hire her. Mia you go baby!!
:D thanks Allen
Still bloody epic Mia.. five or so years has passed in the blink of an eye.. you continue to grow in musical stature, but brilliant to have captured all of this.. 😊
What people don't realize about drumming along to classic rock is that most old songs didn't follow a metronome, so there are tempo changes all over. So for you to stay in sync as the song slows down and speeds up is super impressive.
Love this song and the drums...amazing job!!
rock and roll will never die as long as there are young people listening to it
I certainly hope that's true.
Holy crap girl, you made that look easy! So calm and cool all the way to the end!! I've been playing for 44yrs and I'm impressed with your abilities. Great job, now I'm gonna check out your other videos.
Thank you very much Tim. The videos go back to the beginning and I was, ..sorta am, pretty goofy sometimes and all over the place with musical interests. Hope you like some of it :)
She makes EVERY drum part look easy!
Been playin drums for 56 yrs and you do a fantastic J.o.b loved it mia your one of the best
Nice, I saw them three times in the 70's those concert days were so cool and today's concerts will never be the same.
puff puff pass
She's gonna break a lot of hearts, and she knows it. Great drumming.
@Bill Rock you're an idiot. I didn't even think that way, but you went right there, didn't ya. Bill Rock...lol. keep on rocking sport.
Only the ones that can break
Keep on rockin young lady….simply terrific,👍🏼
...she prolly already has...
Thanks for keeping the classics alive. Great drumming Mia!!
My pleasure! This is a really cool version.
Foghat was my first concert. You did it right. I love watching this video. Good memories.
Slow ride was my very first song I heard at my very first visit to a topless bar in Memphis circa 1975.
That's the kinda stuff that stays in your brain. Kinda funny now, though!
I just played this to the record and the drumming is 99.9% dead on. Incredible. The foot work is phenomenal and how you kept to the speed up at the end is magical. Great job. And thank you to Foghat, especially the drummer, mr Roger Earl, who I have air drummed this song since my youth. Even my dad liked it when I turned it up. Thank you,!
Saw Foghat with Montrose in 1976. Was my very first concert I attended. Nice drumming. Brought back memories. thx
Ahh one of my favorites 😁 beautiful performance Mia. You rocked it 👍.
Women drummers have always been the best. They're a blast to watch. "WISH THERE WERE MORE OF THEM"
Nice!!!
@@miamorrismusic what a talented woman you are. You are the kind of person that is an inspiration for others. Thank You.
James Farmer
I couldn't agree with you more.....I really love female drummers since I first came across Sina and now Mia!
I completely understand you!
As an active Bassist, this is one of my all time favorites, i love playing live. Great Job on the drums,Mia
WOW! I fell in love with this song when first released > yep I am 64 and started playing the drums about 3 years ago. Will add this song to my list to cover. Nothing better than seeing a lovely young lady rocking on her kit! Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite songs. I love it.
Amazing Sound, Great Drum Cover, Rock On!
Well Mia I have been playing for 48 years and I am a foghat fan and all I can say is I am impressed with your playing you handled that song like a champ keep on rockin Mia you will go far!!!:)
Thanks Mia for your incredible, entertaining drum-along to "Slow Ride", which is one of my all-time favorite Rock-Pop songs.
You ~ROCK~N~ROLL! Very Talented!
U are just AMAZING !! And wise beyond your years! Kudos to u- never stop!!
Wow, Just wow........... I grew up on this vinyl LP and I gotta tell ya, the memories came flooding back for me! Thank you!!
You are very welcome.
Well done young lady!! I'm 58 yrs old and this is 1970's gold. My older brothers had these albums.
Me, too. Agree!
Foghat brilliant British band, Slow Ride superb track and Mia does a fine job on the drums.
Thank you very much!
british you are sure? from us NO ?
This young lady is amazing!! I use to play in jr high and part of high school in the early 80's, but was NEVER at this level!
Thank you for taking the time and for the kind comment.
Perfect!!!! Awesome job!!! One of my favorite songs from high school!!! Foghat freaking rock!!!!!!
My wife and I saw this video before and had to find it, I'm old enough to have saw foghat in the 70's . You make it look easy 👍
This is my favorite Foghat song!! I have “Fool for the City” on vinyl lp!!! It was released in 1975 (the year I was born!!) Great drumming, Mia!!! You rock!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟
:D What's wild is I hear the long version on the radio more than the short one. It really is a great song and performance with all the cool little features and that awesome bass section.
Mia Morris Wow!! I gotta see if I can play the drums on this song!!!
Yeah it's a great song, although everyone seems to be missing what it's about 🤔
@@davidignatiusbalestreri1737 ok fine, seems to me it's the elephant in the room, but that's Rock and Roll
I'm surprised that a girl so young even knows who Foghat is. I am 62 and that is one of my all time favorite tune. Good job! Can you do a cover of Radar Love by Golden Earring? That was huge back in it's day. Keep up the good work.
I'm 24 and love this song, it's knew of the first songs I mastered on (guitar hero), if anyone knows the game lol
Me too. All-time favorite song. She heard it on the radio, so I guess there's a redeeming value to classic rock radio. Now, if they would just play some David Gilmore, solo stuff from 1978.
66 & ditto
Mia, great job, never give up. Grew up with bands like Foghat, so many....
Young Lady keep doing what your doing!! Great job! You will get to your final goal and the great part is you enjoy what your doing. Keep on rockin and rollin!! Excellent Job!
GREAT DRUMMING MIA. OH MY GOODNESS. I'M TIRED JUST WATCHING YOU. YOUR AN AMAZING YOUNG WOMAN. YOUR AN INSPIRATION TO YOUNG GIRLS THAT THINK "NO SELF WORTH" . WOOOOOWWWWW I'M BLOWN AWAY BY YOUR PERFORMANCE.
Solid in-the-pocket groove & fills. Good use of open-handed drumming in certain spots.
Thank you and thanks for noticing that. It just seemed to feel like the right way to do it with the floor tom in the mix. Really appreciate it.
I can't help but check in; you're a very versatile player. I'm waiting for some pop punk, I don't think drumming gets more energetic than that XD it always gets me bounding off the walls.
Buenísima!!!! Te felicito!!! IDOLA!!!
Great job on this complex and amazing song.
Thanks for a journey back in time. Solid and tight. I was back stage and it was awesome
My pleasure. Thank you for checking it out.
Awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mia, your drumming is PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent. An old favorite for sure.
I must have said WOW 20 times in this video.

Nuff said, My mind is blown!
Every time I hear this song I always think of Dazed & Confused.., you totally nailed it note for note 🖒 Keep doing what you're doing and just keep Livin'.., L-I-V-I-N 🤘
Foghat was one of my favorite of all times in the 70s I was like partying hearty I was sitting back just meddling out to the beat a joint one hand and a beer in the other lol keep On rockin in the Free world
That was awesome, Mia I'm 61 and went to see Foghat about 1975 or 76 in concert, your drumming sounded the same as the song on the radio when I 1st heard it, and still listen to it to this day!
nice job, loved the song, thx 4 sharing with us

Excellent. Your facial expressions show how much you love what you are doing and we love listening to it. Rock on Mia.
Dang girl, that was awesome. Foghat never got the recognition that it deserved I think. I saw them in concert in Austin. Tx in the early eighties.
Man... That song just jams. I love that bass part too. Not ready for it, but someday...
Super bowl halftime for sena

You received the most important compliment possible!... that of Mr. Roger Earl. Great job. Killer song.
Thanks - It was really cool of him to take the time!
@@miamorrismusic Roger is a really nice guy, and one of the greatest drummers. Not surprising that he would take the time to watch and then comment.
You are so AMAZING you've got me Rock'n in my chair! I tried to push the drums on my daughter when she was very young and she wanted nothing to do with it and seeing you do this just really touched me.

Awesome drumming skills there Mia, ROCK ON!!!
Nice work. Thanks for showing that you don't need 15 drums and 10 cymbals to be good. Also thanks for doing your part to keep classic rock alive.
I like that comment :) I love this music and would love to see musicians find there way back into popular music.
James Signor. I salute you on that one my friend.
