This is where my husband and I will be staying for 4 days while in South Africa! Thank you for this! Love your content. Glad to have subscribed. Can’t wait to see table mountain.
I’m looking forward to the Taj Mahal Palace. This was my first foreign hotel stay in my life and it blew me away! This was back in January 1974, when it was called the Taj Mahal Intercontinental. I was joining my first ship in my chosen career in the Merchant Navy (or Merchant Marine as it is known in the US). The experience was phenomenal, especially to a wide eyed 16 year old kid with little experience of the world. Cape Town looked great too! Nice one Kevin👍🏻👏🏻
I made the graphics for my Taj Mahal video today. Honestly had to stop and think if it should make a totally different scoring system for the property just because it seems odd just to lump it in as a “hotel”. Truly is an icon. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Taj follows the Indian Value of Atithidevo Bhava which means exactly what you mentioned. I’d literally not go out of a sloppy balcony 🙈 Very interesting to see FE toiletries even in Taj’s International properties, you will also notice them in some of Vistara’s International sector aboard business class. Tata always ensures to elevate Indian brands and has always been a true pillar of India’s success.
I love the giant picture window in the bathroom - if you've got that view, absolutely flaunt it. As I'm primarily a solo traveller, that blind would never get pulled down.
I'm from this beautiful place called Cape Town. Thank you for this review ❤ and I agree with you. Our people can be very slow with service. I get aggravated myself 😂
This looks to be the place to stay. Can't wait for the taj palace review. If can be so bold, I wonder if the hotel negresco in nice is on your list? I'd love to see your take on it. That's also on my list of places to visit.
It is certainly on my list but won't be coming in the next year. My next intensive Europe trip will likely be coming in the first half of 2024. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
What an amazing video Kevin! The views are just awesome. It’s a beautiful city. And 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 to your new section, Need to know? Very helpful! Thanks a lot!
Very interesting review. Cape Town is actually on my bucket list of cities I want to visit because it just looks gorgeous, any advice if I’ll come to South Africa?
OMG a sloped balcony….the stuff right out of nightmares for me 😱 Can’t wait for your review of Singapore Airlines ⏳ I am about to book our flight to Bali and have to choose between Qatar, Singapore or Cathay 😅 Love to hear your opinion on it! Thank you for the great review! 🙏🏼
For me, Cathay is simply not at an operating level yet where I would risk a long haul trip with them. I have two shorter flights booked with them soon, but the only reason I'm okay with it is becuase it's a route that i could easily book last minute on another carrier if I needed to. Hopefully by the end of 2023 they'll be instilling a bit more confidence. As for choosing between SQ and QR, there's not a bad decision to be made ☺️ Thanks as always for the support 🙏
The need to know info is a great improvement, although it was difficult to read & process all info while it was on screen. Maybe put it towards the end of the video and leave it up for longer?
Good idea. I’ll be playing around with it in the coming hotel videos. Might partially speak it to lessen the reading burden. We shall see. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Not to be too fussy, but as a light sleeper, I noted that yours was an adjoining room. Any issues from noise coming thru the adjoining door from your neighbor’s room? Thank you!
As with all of my videos, if/when there is a noise bleed problem (of any sort) I will specifically mention it in the video. If there's no mention of it, there were no sound issues. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I like your very polished videos. I am considering a trip to CT in the near future but am a bit hesitant because of the reported dangerous street crime. I suppose it may be like Rio. What is your observation of CT safety? Thanks. L.
Yes, even if you didn’t mention Rio, Rio would have been my closest comparison. It’s just a destination that requires common sense precautions. Many years ago I’d been (non-violently) robbed in Rio and have had an attempted snatching in Bogotá. Looking back on those occurrences- the moment it happened, I knew exactly what I was doing wrong. If you’ve had similar experiences or are generally precautions you will likely be fine. For any locations like this, I don’t recommend someone go though, if they have anxiety about it as you’ll never be able to allow yourself to enjoy the beautiful city. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Magnificent view! On a side note, slopped balcony floor might indicate underlying fatigued rebar on the structure. Hope you let the staff know about it.
Idk what they’re called but the baseboard tiles on the sides of the balcony were cut on an angle (bc I had the same thought as you at first)- so it was intentional apparently lol. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Rooms look a touch small and cramped and I cannot say I like the old fashioned fittings. There are more impressively designed hotels in CT. The view was however stunning!
@@tfft Sorry if it sounded like I was questioning/criticizing your choice of hotel. Judging by the stunning entrance I had the impression you were already at the top of the range regarding price tags. So no offence meant. I am originally from CT myself so I am always curious what the city has to offer and enjoyed your honest and beautifully filmed video
No worries, no offense taken at all. The CT hotel scene (in the city proper) is an odd one in that you have hotels like The Taj in the $250-$350 range… and then this giant leap to $800++ for the Belmond, One & Only, Silo, etc. Never seen anything like it in my travels before.
@@tfft seriously..? I have also went to hotels recently and did see such thing.. how can people live in same room together?? What about when you travel with your family ??

Yes I got my Vistara FE kit when I flew out of India. Very nice kit! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Looking forward for that Vistara review!

Thank you so much for your video. Did you happen to visit any safari lodges during your time in SA?
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
Always find service slow in South Africa. My practice at some restaurants is to order food and drinks ASAP together 😂
Thanks for watching 🩴
Yep definitely a must in South Africa!
Another superb and informative review. I am basing my stays now on your past experiences. Really helpful :)

There certainly are, but most of those more impressive hotels come with equally impressive price tags 😅 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Now Tata is making their hotel company also global. How many hotels tata have outside of india ?
Taj has been international for quite a while. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great video. I do think paying $303 a night is very steep for this hotel. It's more like a four-star hotel.
You've got some lofty 5-star standards 😅 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
👌🏽
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Happy New Year. Your video is okay. Please desist from language like…move your butt!!
That’s rude!! The rest is good. Cheers.
😂 It is a common light hearted expression, not rude. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Kevin, I think you should show your face. Otherwise you will not find followeres in a sustainable way. Believe me. Good luck!
Whole heartedly disagree lol. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
WTF was that... mirror between bathroom and bedroom ? Have they lost their mind..!!
The window? It’s a very common feature in hotel rooms across the world…

There’s a shade that can go up and down…
@@tfft ohh
I believe the concept is to discourage business travelers from sharing one room...
