I used to live in one of the blocks next door and as a result I frequented Gigi Rooftop. It really is a great ambiance with extremely welcoming service. Oh and that cured fig is South African green fig preserve or green fig jam. It pairs incredibly well with cheese.
I'm genuinely curious about something since my impression was very different from most commenters- that immediate area, how would you judge it overall, safety wise, compared to the rest of Cape Town? Relatively speaking, I was quite comfortable in the area in general- was surprised by some comments.
Which other cool spots did you enjoy that might align with someone who is new to Cape Town and would like to find great spots like the rooftop where one can frequent regularly
Another enjoyable video. It would be nice (for me certainly) if you could comment on the accessibility of these lovely hotels, I see lots of stairs in the videos and am always left wondering if I could ever stay there. Thanks.
When I'm not able to show accessibility issues in the video, I will generally speak to it specifically if I think there would be challanges. If I don't mention it, it generally means that either the property is accessible for most- or the state of things is well shown in the video. Always on my mind as I visit properties. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
hey Kevin, fantastic video as always. absolutely love the art around the hotel, added to my bucket list. unrelated but I was wondering if your prefer reviewing flights or hotels?
Hmmmm, that’s a tough call. I’d say great hotels and great flights are equally a pleasure to film- and crappy ones are equally a drag. But, one thing is for sure- flights are a heck of a lot easier haha. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
And it’s so nice to put together videos like this. Happy to say it’s (mostly) smooth & positive sailing on the channel for the next month or so. Thank you as always 🙏🏻
I've visited Cape Town many many times in the last ten years. GG is a seriously nice hotel but the price, approx ZAR 4500 for 1 night, even for Cape Town that is very expensive. You can find many equally nice hotels for little more than half that price.
Well done. The official description was ridiculous. . Here's my description for this and just about all authentic "boutique" hotels.... "Clean and newer looking smaller property smartly decorated filled with all kinds of cool interesting things having some elements of the locale".
Watched this vid as well as the Taj hotel one….lovely hotels but unfortunately in a dodgy area of the city….dangerous for walking to/from after sunset (i live in Cpt)
I am genuinely curious, which areas of Cape Town would you say are relatively safest? When researching South Africa in general 99% of content online falls into one of two categories: 1. It's not that bad, just be 'smart'... or 2. DON'T RISK YOUR LIFE BY GOING!
@@tfft unfortunately the CBD where these hotels are listed is shady after hours as its mainly a financial district, hence deserted by night. Safest imo is the Waterfront, Atlantic seaboard , Constantia and Blouberg area for evening strolls. Trust this helps

I also heard the area is a little rough

And how was your visit. I understand it’s wonderful but in a rougher part of town. Did you feel safe at all times? Thanks
@@desmondedwards6309 it was really good but indeed didn’t feel super safe to walk around even if I don’t believe we ever were in danger …

What a gorgeous hotel 😂. May consider it if I make it to CPT. I love that circular delft rug from the room. I'd totally buy one.
I would too! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Room for improvement…:” not a damn thing”. That sums up this hotel AND video pretty well 😂 Thank you for another gem 💎

I am a subscriber your channel. You have been traveling around the world.
Just wondering where is your hometown? and what kind of business are you in?
Originally from New York and now, this is my business. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

There are A LOT of better hotels in CPT! The main issue is the location. Not good. I wouldn’t feel safe after dark.
Didn’t say it was (or was trying to be) the best hotel in Cape Town. It’s simply a very well done boutique hotel. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
