  • If your wondering if it's good.... ITS AMAZING.
Owned the bike 4 years. Its been used for travelling along the road rather than off them. Tyres made it a lot smoother and more quiet when I put on the MichelinRoad5 compared to the Mitas+7 that it came with. Was a bit tall so I lowered it with a Touratech HyperPro 50mm kit. Was a bit quiet so I made it louder with a Black Widow silencer with removable baffles and a K&N air filter. Amazing wind and rain cover due to its big barn door screen and aerodynamics. While moving i can ride in rain and not get wet. Never owned a bike before this that was so protective. It earns top marks here. Sits all day long on the road and doesn't get hot and is a real comfortable place to be as the seat is great. More than enough power for me but that's an opinion. Riding modes and rear ESA can be changed while riding. Has Normal, Sport, Rain and Enduro modes on this one.
Will truly miss this bike but I wanted some modern touches so i upgraded. I didnt like the feel of the new one at all F850GS Adventure. It was top heavy and felt cheap to me plus made in China. Also tried a BMW F900XR but it was an absolute back breaker and after 30 minuites i had to stop. Ended up with a Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro made in thailand (i know i know haha). Time will tell if its any good but first 1000 miles have been great on that. Its a far superior road focused bike and suits my needs.

Hi, do you have experience with offroad riding and the lowered suspension? I bought the same bike recently and I’m 178cm, so got the same issue. I’m curious if this lowered suspension affects the handling offroad

I bought this bike to eat road miles in an upright position with a soft floaty suspension that was easy on my back and it excells at this. I didnt take this offroad and remained road focused. What i got told about the lowered suspension on this bike by others is that it didnt necesarily lower the height as much as it increased the sag a lot more. Naturally being lower with your sitting on it you will have less clearance so will knock and bottom out more than standard.
As much as i love all 3 of my GS in the past ive owned 2 and 4 stroke dirt bikes (Ktm, KawasakiKDX) and consider all the GS as heavy pigs offroad. Yes they are capable and yes some ppl spend years honing skills on them but to the average person once you tried lifting these heavy bikes 3 times in a day loaded and tired its not fun. If your going offorad use offroad. I wouldnt want to haul this weight around in the woods personally but respect some ppl love doing that.

@@FrilledNeckDragonUK thanks for your explanation. Because I live in Holland I was looking for an all round bike: touring, comfort and adventure; that’s why I choose this model but indeed it’s quite heavy. Considering your thoughts and the fact that I still want to use it offroad, adjusting the seat is a better idea. Not heavy offroad riding, but just gravel paths and so on

@@danielvanossenbruggen4107 Thats a real good idea actually start with cheaper easier options like a lowered seat and also adjusting suspension first and if its still too tall then explore next options like lowering kits.
For gravel paths, light work and making your way up shingle roads to your next hotel for the night on tour this is perfect . Good luck on mission and may your bike look after you on the road :)
