Thanks for this. Helpful of me as I search for new offset. After looking at all the videos I cant find one that shows the transition from chamber to firebox. I saw some videos that saw grease leaks into the firebox. Have the modified that to stop the problem do you think and also is there a baffle in there? I see some that have them and some that dont like the Mill Scales. Thanks
Good for you, look forward to seeing the cook. The build quality looks amazing, those welds are beautiful!! I ordered this spec with the addition of the cowboy grill on 10/06.
I didn't order the Cowboy Grill, but in hindsight I was looking at the wrong reasons when I made that decision. I thought I would have no need for as as I would not cook a steak or burger on it, which remains true.
However, I think the front door access it provides to the fire chamber is valuable and if I had to do it all again, I'd get the Cowboy Grill for that reason alone.
Nice job on the walk through I have a 1975 I’ve had it for almost 3 months and I absolutely love it!!!!! I did go with a fire grate to lift it off the bottom a bit seems to run cleaner smoke for me. Had an idea yesterday of lining the bottom with thin fire bricks to hopefully keep a better and hotter coal bed . Don’t know if it will work but I’m going to give it a try. Congratulations
I definitely think I'll be adding a fire grate to the inventory shortly. I've heard others also line the cook chamber w/fire bricks, gonna run it a few times to see how it holds heat (very little fears with 3/4" steel) and adjust as needed.
Looks great, man! I got mine in the same delivery load. I upgraded from a Horizon pit, and it’s well built, but undersized. This thing’s a beast, and I can’t wait for my first cook
Those boys had a long day+ of delivering pits up the east coast. Yes, a beast is the right term; 3/8" steel as a standard option is amazing and definitely adds to the heft, which is why I got the Wagon package.
Gonna be real fun getting to learn the 1975 for sure.
Thanks for sharing your new toy. I ordered the exact same set up with delivery coming in early spring. I will be watching closely to see how you are enjoying it. Take care!
Toy is the right word for sure. If you have cooks you want to see or general Qs feel free to fire away.
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 Thanks I misspoke about it being identical. Once i revisited the recipe I noticed that i got the additional Cowboy grill as well. I don’t have many questions but I will be looking out for the awesome cooks you do on this grill. Have a great night!
love the pit and looking at them real hard .
Awesome video man had to sub because of that bucket! Go pats
A 2'x4' pipe chamber is 94 gallons (as in the aptly named offset from Mill Scale). Looks like a great smoker, man. Smoke on!
Excellent, thanks for the info.
Love it, could you possibly get some measurements on it for those of us modifying similar pits from other manufacturers? Such as the stack length and ID diameter, collector opening size and approximate size of the transfer from the firebox. Thanks and congrats on an awesome smoker
Jay - will do. Hopefully I'm doing me next video this weekend and I will also grab & list measurements at that time.
Thanks for the video. I'll be receiving my 1975W in February, so this was great. Not sure if you're on Facebook, but the WH owners group is very helpful.
Thank you and good luck come February. I'm not on FB but will have my wife follow that account, appreciate the recommendation.
I'm considering the wagon option because of the same grass obstacle en route to my paver patio out back. Did you have any issues moving the 1975 through the grass? Another question I'm debating is deciding between the 1969 vs 1975. With all the options although reasonably priced, it all adds up. Would love to get the 1975 so is it worth the extra cost? Appreciate your thoughts and keep the videos coming.
Hi Jeffrey, thanks for following along. I am able to pull the 1975W across the lawn by myself very easily. Once you get it moving, which isn’t that tough, its momentum is substantial! In my view if you can swing the extra cost for a larger smoker go for it. I’ve never heard anyone complain their smoker is too big while on the contrary BBQ forums are full of buyer’s remorse for people who wished they got a larger unit. Best of luck!
I’ve watched your video at least 5 times. Love the Wagon package. If I get one I will probably be getting the wagon wheels due to all the turf and gravel I have in my backyard. My only problem would be getting it to my backyard. Seems like the 1969 and 1975 wagon wheels will be too wide to fit through my side gate due to AC unit being too close to the wall and my front door it’s not wide enough to go through my house. Do you think if I remove the wagon wheels and drop the smoker on two 4 wheel Dollies one in the front and one in the back it would be much narrower? Would you be able to measure left to right axles from the inside (without removing the wheels) please? The website says the 1975 wagon is 39 inches wide. I want to see how much narrower it is without them.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Jose. Sorry for the delayed response, must’ve accidentally turned notifications off.
The inside wheel to inside wheel measurement is 24”. Hope that helps. It’s a great smoker. Good luck!
I’m curious how well the door seals once hot. Does it leak much smoke? This should be an awesome pit. Just figured out that they are made a couple of hours from where I live. Need to visit.
It leaks a very, very small amount and nothing that I am concerned about.
great review brother and congrats
Backyard, thanks for checking in. Yours was the first Workhorse channel I stumbled across and have been a loyal follower since. Keep up the great work.
Trying to pull my pennies together so I can get one! Thanks for the review!
Amen to that, they will be pennies well spent. I've spent a lot of time reviewing the custom build offsets and in terms of quality and standard offerings I don't think you can top Workhorse. Best of luck!
Just curious if you also used any oil on the outside as well
Yes. I applied linseed oil to the exterior.
How have you managed draining grease with the angle issue?
Hi Paul. I’ll let you know when I clean it for the first time coming up soon. Will do a video for that too.
Just wondering how much heat that firebox generates with the tires being so close to the firebox
It gets hot to the touch but it doesn’t radiate or give off heat to any extent. I wouldn’t worry about that issue at all based on my experience as well as what I’ve seen others do.
That cooking chamber looks good .how far is the top rack from the door opening. ? To me it like about 5 inches . Looks good should be a top notch rig .
Correct, just about 5”
What do you think after having it a few months? Anything you wish was different?
I love it 100%. In hindsight I would get the Cowboy Firebox option to have access to the fire from the front and I would’ve also gotten the T model so I can trailer it. But other than that it’s perfect. Cooks incredible. Holds temps like a champ. It really seems to want to settle at 250, at least for me. And that works just fine.
Nice!! I’m thinking about getting one. Trying to decide between this one, millscale, or moberg
Can't go wrong with any pits on that list. Lone Star Grillz and Workhorse were my final two choices after months of research. But any of those top places will surely produce a great result. Good luck!
At least for me, the combo of Workhorse's relatively low price and their use of 3/8" steel for the cook chamber and firebox walls as a standard offering set them apart.
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 Let me know how it runs. Definitely the best value out there.
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 How long did you wait to get it after you ordered it?
@@Ryansbbqnbrew I ordered in early May, it arrived last week. So a little over 5 months in all.
Nice video bud. I think you may have installed the air damper wrong of the fire box. I think it goes on the inside.
Yeah, I think you're right. I stared at the pit a long time before putting the damper on, trying to figure out the correct side. Looking back at pics on their website I have to agree with you. Thanks for pointing this out.
So I wasn’t wrong- I thought the same thing. I guess it would still work, just a cleaner installed on the inside. From the videos I’ve seen, seems most use the door to control draft rather than the damper.
Have you found any hot spots.
Not from right (heat chamber) to left (smoke stack) beyond a few degrees occasionally. Top rack to bottom is, as expected, about 25 degrees higher.
What are the blemishes on the lid?
My understanding is these type of blemishes are a common occurrence in new pits. All it should take is a little elbow grease (sandpaper, wire brush, etc then spray with oil) to remove. They will reappear over time and just like a cast iron pan pits do require regular maintenance and seasoning to keep in top condition. Should have a burn-in and oiling/linseed oil video(s) out soon. Thanks for watching!
@@epickleuva I've definitely been keeping an eye out for these on other videos and have seen them elsewhere as well as heard others mention it. As to is it common and/or acceptable, I have no idea ...
@@epickleuva which pit do you have a stake in?

Hi everybody! Where can I buy work horse 1975 like that one ! Somebody help me with that thanks!!!
Hello,
Right off their website, www.workhorsepits.com/product-page/1975-1. It's very easy to do, if you have any questions about the process and/or options, I'd be happy to try to help answer them.
Only one you issues why in the world 🌎 you can cut the one inch lower make bottom shelf slide to ?
And from fire box to cook chamber putting half inch lip so the grease won’t drip and firebox ?
Jeez that smoker is a tank
Hold the GD camera still
Yes. 100% agree I need to be much better on the video production side of this!!
Not to be nosy....price? I've been looking at fatstack and others
It was $2,400 when I got it. Probably has increased by now …
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 honestly that's not bad, shipping will.get ya but even if the prices went up some I'd say it's worth it
@@jsblusmokebbq4343 it’s MUCH cheaper than the other customized offsets in its category. That combined with its quality makes it a slam dunk purchase in my opinion.
It’s gonna be 6k for me shipped to my home in Texas. 😅
They really sent out a pit without burning it in and testing it?
My understanding, gained only from watching others on UA-cam and looking at various manufacturing websites, is it is standard practice to do an initial burn when you receive a new offset, Weber kettle, electric smoker, pellet grill, etc. to remove any leftover residue from the manufacturing & production process as well as shipping.
As to what they do at the factory I don't know enough about that to comment.
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 Yes of course, that’s normal. But are they not quality testing these pits before they send them out?
@@epickleuva Honestly don't know the answer to that. But I'd be surprised if they tested each pit that went out the door, at some point from a QA/QC standpoint they must feel the whole process is dialed in enough. But I'll certainly share my thoughts, good and bad, in coming weeks. About to head outside now and do the initial burn.
@@rabidouxsmokecatering5496 Sounds good, looking forward to it.
