Your English is fantastic my friend. In the process of studying Chinese these past couple years I have spoken with hundreds of Chinese people, and your English is the best I've heard thus far. 你的口音太流利的。好棒
I've taken French lessons on Duolingo for over 300 days, and have never missed a day of practicing. But I am far from being able to communicate in it. I have been thinking to make some changes to the way I learn it. I'm very impressed by what you've shared here. Intensity and consistency is what I need. By the way my native language is Chinese and English is secondary. Thank you for sharing your reflections with learners. It is encouraging.
I have been studying Spanish, Korean, and Mandarin for a long time now and my levels in each language are vastly different because my native language is English. Spanish is nice because the vocab is similar to English and Mandarin and Spanish are nice when it comes to basic grammar but my studying of Korean is much harder than that of other languages so I definitely understand your point of how long it takes to learn to depend on your native language and skills in other languages
I've seen three of your videos so far and I've learnt a lot! I'm a Brit learning Japanese and this video has not only given me useful tips, but has just pushed my inspiration forward! ありがとう!
The problem lies in what part of the muscles you are using in your mouth or throath! For example: dutch german or cantonese, you pronounce with front of your mouth..mandarin is more in the throath area, people who knows how to sing in different languages will understand where the problem of accents are. Learning another language also involves activating certain muscles in the mouth or throath than what you are used to in your native language
Great video ! I also read somewhere that the more languages you already know, the faster it gets to learn a new one, not only because you know your learning style, but because your brain gets better at learning and compartmentalizing ?
I only noticed one word you spoke differently, "culture". I feel your mouth was not as open as some native speakers do. When I first watched some of your videos, I thought you were an ABC. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You are my inspirations!
I watched in a few videos. It's amazing how much time you spend to learn a language without knowing where it takes you. My conclusion of this videos: I think I except that I'm not that talented 😂😂😂 or maybe just to lazy.
Hi Phoenix, I have a question, how did you learn English? From your accent, I guess you went to american at an early age and studied maybe middle school in USA, is my guess correct? ❤ your sharing videos
My native language is Dutch. In highschool (or the equivalent) I had classes in English, French, German, Latin and Ancient Greek. Weirdly, the language that was most similar to Dutch, namely German, I found to be the hardest to learn by far. I don't know if it is because of the focus in German class was on grammar whereas the other languages had much broader focus, or my personal enthousiasm for the other languages was/is greater. But I do wonder if, when two languages are so similar, it because a temptation to ignore the nuanced differences in vocab, pronounciation and grammar (grammar was quite different), which seriously halts fluency in the long run. Practicing my German, it almost felt like I was putting on an accent in Dutch, rather than learning a new language on its own terms... Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or does anyone have any tips on how to overcome this?
I am a Turkish from Turkey. And also Azerbaijan public speaks Turkish. Between these two countries similarities like 80% for language. I did nor any problem while I'm learning the different accent of my language. But also I am learning German, and on my side, German is such a tricky thing. Maybe the only problem is German grammar :)

Obviously I havent really given it many hours per week... I am really hoping to find some tips on learning German. Is English your native language? if not, how long did it take for you to learn English?
What's your age fren? I really enjoy languages, but right now I only speak spanish, english, french, and i'm learning italian But sometimes I start to think i'm going too slow Is one too old to learn more languages, fren?
I don’t think one can be too old to learn languages, it’s just harder to reach native level after adolescence. But I learned all my languages but Chinese after the age of 15.
@@phoenixhou4486 thank you those are the cultures and races I’m interested in so I thought I would go with one of them. For someone who mainly speak English, would you recommend Japanese or French and what must one do? If you got a video can you link me it
Are you native Chinese? Because I think your English accent is excellent despite your saying it's all over the place. Of course it's not without error but the errors you make are virtually negligible. You even pronounce some words correctly that the vast majority of English natives mess up out of habit. Of course, that's a given being that you learned the language properly and not through ingestion like children do but nonetheless, your ability is not without merit.

Fantastic English bro, keep up the good work.
I think one very important factor is personal motivation - like loving the culture or the people or the foreign boyfriend
Yes I agree that’s the single most important factor

Pheonix, I think you should make a video specifically about pronunciation, your approach and thoughts. I feel everyone would appreciate that.

I’ve studied English for a couple of years, starting from Elementary school just like most kids in China😝
Is German a good place to start for a native English speaker?
Yes, English is 65% to 70% similar to German. So, yes, it is way easier than romance langauges such as Spanish and French.
