Additionally, few people have a problem with not using enough pressure. They use too much. When he tell people to let the weight of the razor do the work, it's the same as telling someone to let the saw do the work. No woodworker is gonna stare at their saw expecting it to hop to and rip that plank. But, that saying helps teach new woodworkers how to use a saw, and show them it's not about pressure into the cut, but about movement back and forth. Same goes for face shaving--more move, less push.

Thank you for the videos! I'm trying a cheapo safety razor, the first time I did it some days ago I though I'd rip my face off, then I decided to shave half of my face with a Mach-3 and half of it with the safety razor, and the results were unmistakable: a LOT less irritation on the safety razor side.
I already tried against the grain with the safety razor on my first shave, but avoided every corner and bone (and completed them with the Mach-3). Today I just went with the grain, but everything.

I bought a Parker 92R on Ebay with shark chrome blades. I've never looked back on my Mach 3.

I just ordered my Mekur razor, looking forward to using it. I am so tired of spending $13 on 4 blades that I have to throw away after each use. I have really coarse facial hair, I needed a better option.

you have to press slightly, i mean the whole two ounces isnt enough to cut the hair, i can't use a limp wrist and let the wight of the razor do the work, i wish. it looks like your putting some pressure. plus your handle isnt parallel to the floor, its angled.

I think he accidentally would have said with and across the grain of your shave but corrected himself.

First shave in my life was with double edged safety razor. Now I use those disposable razors, but fuck it. Not anymore. I'm gonna buy one good razor again. In my opinion, safety razor is, and will be superior to any disposable piece of crap.

I'm going to check this out cause I keep cutting myself with these 5 blade razors.

+ravenwda007 , if you are experienceing nicks with a multiblade razor, then you need to be triple careful in your early days with a safety razor. Because safety raz are extrrrra "effective" and sensitive.. So a mach3 will probably handle two or three wrong hand moves(although the shave detailing is super shitty). But this baby right here, has no mind of its own, one faulty move and it'll give you a nick. Although, once you are a pro, you would end up falling in love with it.
How was your experience btw ?

waiting for my parker 99r and shaving materials to come in the mail. am tired of Gillette and their super expensive and irritating thousand blade razors.
plus using blades is how my grandparents got shaves so am looking forward to this. then am moving on to straight blades.

Tried double-edge razor for two weeks and never looked so messy in my life. I can shave MUCH closer with a $1.00 disposable and avoid the nicks and cuts. As my 78 year-old barber, an expert in single blade shaving, said, "It's 2014. Why in the hell would you use this method? There is a reason why millions DO NOT use double edge razors."

Do any Shave Pucks or hard soaps are going to work?. You can mix and match old soaps? to fit in any mug or cup that you like to use. like (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arkos shave soaps?) Cut the bar soap up, put in a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave for a minute or so? if it foams up, stop. the water keeps it from burning itself up? (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy does it? let cool don't want to crack the mugs or cups you're using? ( you just went it to congeal in your mug or cup') place in the sun, until soap hardens? When using Dry Brush more Water. For its (price point?)' (I use Dove bar soaps?) (use any soaps Out there ??) save your money spend it on your wife don't listen to the shave mafia.try to save people money in these inflationary times wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
