I agree. Education about jury is completely absent. I think many don't really understand their role, even when they understand the system. Seeing some recent juror interviews in various cases is very eye opening. While many get their role right, some imo were unbelievably off the rails. Personal feelings have creeped in on some cases and that's just wrong. At least 2 recent cases are an example of jurors convicting based on emotions taking priority over actual provable evidence, or lack thereof. This is scary in cases that are largely based on circumstantial evidence. I saw red when the court denied read-back to the jury for Ashley. If I ever get a response like that, I'd just acquit. That was just dastardly! No one gets to ask me for a conviction after denying read-back.

Now you need "know your lawyer" interview episodes. Where you interview different lawyers that are from different branches of law. Going over how widely different the range of law is. LOL.
NONE of what Sarah's previous attorneys have said SURPRISES me. My feeling was that she was constantly arguing for a solution wherein she was COMPLETELY ACQUITTED of ALL charges, and whenever an attorney told her that was unlikely or impossible, she balked.
One time my brother ordered something from Amazon and it showed up in a huge box. When he opened it he found a dead body inside. @Medeagaming I think you are just a little off on Boone's situation with her lawyers. I don't think she was insisting they argue aquital, she just believes she isn't responsible for Jorge death because she didn't intentionally do what essentially made him due. And any lawyer with a client in Boone's shoes isn't going to pull their punches when they tell her the truth of what she did. Then she balked as their truthfulness undermines the foundation of her beliefs and her psychopathy wouldn't allow her to put her life in the hands of people she couldn't flim-flam to accepting her not being responsible. I do kind of believe that when she was hung out to dry in the harsh wind of the court system by being made to go pro se, she realized she wasn't up to the task of representing herself. So Owens became a "safe port" in the storm per se, and while I don't believe for one second that she has reformed her belief that she isn't responsible, she would rather go down as a result of an attorney, than on her own. Because then she has the excuse that her attoney was responsible for her incarceration, and a claim of ineffective counsel on appeal.
Here’s the thing; both were consenting adults, with a history of mutual, drunken domestic violence. Their night of fun and games turned tragic because both adults made bad choices. Only one survived to tell the tale. However she convinced him to get him to get in that suitcase, she took that opportunity to punish him. The problem came when she literally passed out from over intoxication. Maybe in her inebriated state she really did think he’d free himself. She had actually put her son in a suitcase before. Thankfully no tragic outcome that time. So her defense was, it was unintentional. Now all the previous attorneys probably did inform her of the fact that only affects the degree of her charge, 1st, 2nd, degree murder down to the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. She isn’t going to settle for anything but a not guilty. She has her head set that she did not mean for him to die, and I personally, believe her. The new attorney is doing a superb job, he’s literally devoted to her case, obviously. Now his reversal to self defense, isn’t going to wash, but he’s trying his best. A flimsy defense is better than no defense in my opinion. There’s no way, with the phone video that she will be acquitted. Not guilty does not equal innocent. According to guilty words channel she’s spent 160k and that doesn’t include the courts time, more money ongoing to jail break investigations, more expert witness and their fees plus expenses or the amount of money for the jail and staff to transfer her back and forth or the court and its employees time. Now including her free lawyers and their assistants time this is just going to be under 400k without the hidden fees of the court’s and jail staff’s time. She’s a succubus by every meaning of the word beyond being an apparition or spirit. She’s figured out how to take and keep taking and making flying monkeys all around her. Now with these lawyers getting paid it puts expenses so far over 200k. I had no idea that one murderer could get that amount of money from the taxpayers.
@@valerielevasseur8674 I seriously had no idea the state would spend that much on one persons defense. I just didn’t. I figured there’d be a cap to some extent. Nothing new. She's not the first one to cost the most money for defense. And you have to consider the fact that if it were you or a family member that you cared about you wouldn't be thinking about the money that it cost the state to defend them.

May God bless your family and keep them close.
Calling any of your court appointed (or not) lawyers “snotty” and to accuse them of lying is unacceptable. It is disqualifying. Boone deserves the reproach from this judge who rightly appoints the blame to her for destroying and distorting the relationship.
Sometimes the truth hurts. These Attys are even admitting that they didn t have the resources to even try the case. All defendants deserve to have fair representation & if the State has 4 attys, private investigators, etc, then the defense should have the same, it’s ludicrous to think otherwise.
Boone will treat a new lawyer just as she has her prior attorneys, by assaulting their reputation with baseless allegations. That strategy is unhelpful and explains why she's having so much trouble finding new counsel.

I really hope the defense tries this battered spouse bullshit, so that the state can play her interrogation. Screaming "Not Intentional!" over and over again. Gimme a break.
With that logic Pete, that’s like saying “its a easy babysitting job, parents have a nice house and it’s just one toddler for 2 hours,” but… if that toddler was born from the depths of hell, that changes the entire babysitting experience and job, a sitter might even charge more if theres a next time. It might be a strait forward case per evidence, but Sarah going through 9 attorneys, there’s nothing easy about that and that does matter, she makes it incredibly difficult and adds significantly more stress…
Also, Sarah drug all the lawyer's names through the mud which is now immortalized in the court records through Sarah's letters. This case ABSOLUTELY was extraordinary circumstances. I don't disagree with Peter very often but on this issue I most certainly do.

I'm late as usual but the discussion with a commenter about your opinions and being recognized as a great resource for legal information to us lay people!
I'm glad they each got the 15k. They took the case expecting the 15k flat fee, and it wasn't any of their faults that they did not complete the case. Also glad Judge Kraynick stopped it when he did, or we would probably be on lawyer 15 by now, because Sarah was cycling through them faster with each attorney.
I think it is so fair that they each got $15k. That's their job. What sucks is that SB was such a problematic client that it took so many freaking lawyers for her to get her comeuppance
Before I heard the judges ruling. I thought she would say $10,000 flat fee each person, because as described it could go to the max of 200% - $30,000 TOTAL divided by three people. I think the 15k for each attorney was a Win!!!
Oh yeah, the storm. I'm seeing this a day late on Wednesday. I'm in the area where Peter is and we're gearing up for the storm and it's time to prepare to hunker down for the storm. I'm working as long as the weather holds too, but tomorrow looks like it'll be stay home time. I trust Peter doesn't live in flood zone A, they are evacuating.
That’s probably our bias honestly. Peter is likely also considering there are other difficult clients. SB is unique in her difficulty in that her specific brand of difficulty is publicly amusing. However, criminal defense lawyers deal with all kinds of difficulty from clients … including death threats sometimes. So … RELATIVELY … I get why Peter doesn’t think this is a particularly difficult case even considering Sarah Boone herself.
Mr. Moreno was initially interviewed by the detectives a day or so after the death of Jorge back in 2/2020. I think he was already going to be a witness

Not cheap to prosecute people!
@@biglil711 Not when you care about justice, anyway.
@@valerielevasseur8674 I seriously had no idea the state would spend that much on one persons defense. I just didn’t. I figured there’d be a cap to some extent. Exceptions for unforeseen things but again I just had no idea it could/would reach that obscene amount of money. My mind is seriously blown. I’m in no way saying I thought it would be $0 but just didn’t realize it could and does reach hundreds of thousands of dollar times 2,3 or even 4 that amount. 🤯🫣🫠😳
Nothing new. She's not the first one to cost the most money for defense. And you have to consider the fact that if it were you or a family member that you cared about you wouldn't be thinking about the money that it cost the state to defend them.
Any media deals - books, movies, interview, whatever - Boone does should first go to paying back the state for the seven attorneys, definitely before the current private counsel she has retained currently. Hope the state pushes for this
It's illegal to profit from a crime in FL: that won't be happening.
She can’t profit from her crimes.
@@vickinator She can't, but her lawyers can, that's why they accepted the rights to film/TV of her crimes, probably hoping to get some biopic paycheck or whatever in return for taking her case.
One time my brother ordered something from Amazon and it showed up in a huge box. When he opened it he found a dead body inside. It was in good condition and she was hot, so he did her and kept her around for a few days before reported it. The problem is it tuned into a murder investigation and he had to get a lawyer and do a bunch of stuff to get out of it.
What? Is this sarcasm?@@beckydoesit9331
I am so glad I found your channel. I love the way you practice grace when discussing these difficult cases. I have a whole new appreciation for why even the known guilty deserve a fair trial.
btw, calling you the "Known Lawyer" cracked me up.
I sure appreciate getting a comprehensive overview of the matters at hand in regard to the Sarah Boone case.
The Lawyer you know keeps us in the know and I’m thankful for such quality content.
Peter, you are clearly ethical, morally focused, and have a clear objective of full transparency. You can’t go wrong taking that path. Well done Sir!
This witness is not new.. his interview ( from 2020) is in discovery . However, the now have to include him on witness list based upon last min defense of BSS
Who is Moreno? A neighbor? I rewound but didn't catch that info.
@@dusty1754
He was the maintenance man at the complex
I listened to his taped interview and didn’t hear when he said she said accident and to teach him a lesson.
@@KL-ou9jj
Exactly… that’s going to be a problem I think. He did say there was 2 other ppl with him, so perhaps they will get their statements to collaborate 🤷♀️
@@travelintheresa7884 yes I hope so too!
I always appreciate you explaining the lawyer type of things that we as lay people need to hear. And then explain the why!!!
Peter, I’ve been obsessed with this case for awhile now. You are the only one that made me feel compassion for Sarah. You made me understand how the law works, and why some things are so very important.
You do good work, Peter. You’re changing lives and making a huge difference throughout the world. May God bless your family and keep them close.
This. 100%.
Great point Peter! You should always have integrity in your words. I always pray my words ,deeds, and even thoughts be pleasing to God.
Thank you Peter for continuing to keep us updated on this case and answer all of our questions. I hope that your family and you stay safe this week. 💞
Peter is the #1 empathetic LAWYER on UA-cam!
He really is.
Lawyer You Know has made it into testimony/argument!
I agree Peter! I don't always agree with what you say, however, you always show both sides! You always do the ethical thing and that is beyond impressive, and you have always changed my mind! I feel you are the truest one on the net! If I have questions! I always come here first! Thanks Bro! Cause I take things you say and apply it ! Always doing the ethical thing! You are truly blessed
You always do a great job! You’re classy and fair. I love it that you try to remain neutral and give everyone the presumption of innocence (as much as possible, it’s a little hard in this case). I think that Sarah Boone really needed a lawyer and I’m glad she got one that she gets along with.
I think programs like yours are great. I agree that they are very educational and informative. Knowledge is priceless.
I hope we find out what are the “ethical conflict of interests” each lawyer mentions as reason for dropping the case. I hope we find out one day.
Sarah wanted them to stretch the truth and embellish most likely. That's the gist I got from Hobson .
Something about Jorge. Didn't they represent him. 1 of them did anyway.
Before this channel I would never ever have done jury duty. Now I look forward to the chance.
Sarah herself also eluded to teaching him a lesson on the body cam footage with the female officer who was one of the first responders
I absolutely look forward to hearing from you & new updates in this Boone case , and other cases as well, thanks Peter , take care
You and your family be safe as storm approaches.
I find your common sense to be incredibly helpful! I always reserve judgement until I can get your take on all interesting legal happenings! Thank you so much for doing this!
I tried to watch this hearing live on a different channel I watch and there was no sound, no cc, we were all very confused on that channel on if it was even the right court room. Glad you got the audio and we can hear it with you
3:56 I could listen to your voice all day Petah 😂 You’re a great teacher.
I respect your fair analysis using critical thinking.
Not the Bruce Rivers mention at 18:45 !!! Hahahaha
Bruce Rivers he's the criminal lawyer
@@crazeet9614and what he do?
@@alexsandraknox9852 what he do? He told the guy to stop self-snitching! 😀😀😀
The only thing that makes this case difficult for an attorney's time is the difficult client who believes herself to be smarter than anyone else...
It would be wrong to not pay each and every lawyer for the work they have done. This is the reason she should never be allowed to play around like this. Get SB to pay this from the book deal and netflix docu she hopes for...
I do think you add positivity and fairness to the legal world.
Praying for you and your family to remain safe. Prayers for all in the path.
I'm glad they got paid - they have to pay for therapy after all. I hope there's a support group for them when everything is said and done.
Interesting that Bankowicz said exact hours, but Hobson said "a lot of time" "tremendous amounts of time", but never said exactly how much.
God Bless you & your entire family🙏🏻
I love that you are so smart talk so fast and get shit done!!!!!
My boy Bruce Rivers got a shout-out!! LOL Love him!
Yeah, Rivers is funny but too crude for me. I no longer watch him.
@@jenk.6196 I totally get that. I like that he draws in a certain audience with the crassness and then ends up speaking a lot of morality and sense, so I see him as a positive influence. And sometimes his jokes fall flat but I like the dad vibes 😂
I really hope the defense tries this battered spouse bullshit, so that the state can play her interrogation. Screaming "Not Intentional!" over and over again. Gimme a break.
Love the channel I have learnt so much about the law ! ❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Wow! I was not expecting all the shade about Sarah that was put on the record in this hearing!
I think Sarah Boone is what made this case extraordinary
With that logic Pete, that’s like saying “its a easy babysitting job, parents have a nice house and it’s just one toddler for 2 hours,” but… if that toddler was born from the depths of hell, that changes the entire babysitting experience and job, a sitter might even charge more if theres a next time.
It might be a strait forward case per evidence, but Sarah going through 9 attorneys, there’s nothing easy about that and that does matter, she makes it incredibly difficult and adds significantly more stress…
Absolutely!!! Great analogy!
Also, Sarah drug all the lawyer's names through the mud which is now immortalized in the court records through Sarah's letters. This case ABSOLUTELY was extraordinary circumstances. I don't disagree with Peter very often but on this issue I most certainly do.
Ya Amanda!!! Im in hospital moving to rehab myself. Broke me femur just under hip joint. Now have rod, screws, etc. Rehab nxt!! Peter, you help me get thru with your level headed analysis!💕
Trying to catch up on all of your content! Love the new podcasts!!
I hope the State of FL doesn't let Sara Boone benefit from books and interviews. She does like to write.
She can't. It's illegal to profit from your crimes in FL.
🤪
Son of Sam law prohibits it.
it is illegal to profit from your crimes, especially in florida
I'm really hoping that the interrogation video is allowed to come in. Not only did Boone say it was "Unintentional" she beat the drum that is was "Unintentional." That alone should throw out the whole battered spouse crap that I personally don't agree with.
I love your channel!! I think you’re honest and fair and that’s important. I look forward to watching you and the cases you discuss. Keep up the great work. Your channel is by far the very best 👍😃
Great coverage
So excited re: new witness.
You're amazing, Peter.
Hi LYK, I appreciate your knowledge & integrity. My Dad is a retired lawyer now with dementia. When I spend quality time with him we watch trials together. I don’t have a JD. the things I’ve learned from you here help me engage with my Dad and keep his mind active so thank you!! 🥹
I adore you and your show! Seriously a class act!! I’ve learned so much and so wish I could have lived my dream of being a lawyer or working in some sort of law practice at some capacity. Too late but I love watching so much!!
Thanks for being an amazing human ! ❤
Prayers for your safety from coastal Texas.
I support the judges decision. Attorneys should be paid, compensated for time put in.
The video simplifies the case substantially
I think it is so fair that they each got $15k. That's their job. What sucks is that SB was such a problematic client that it took so many freaking lawyers for her to get her comeuppance
Before I heard the judges ruling. I thought she would say $10,000 flat fee each person, because as described it could go to the max of 200% - $30,000 TOTAL divided by three people. I think the 15k for each attorney was a Win!!!
I’m glad LYK dad supports and constantly contributes his great knowledge/ experiences.
Great channel!
I watch each episode 👍
Awesome, Peter got a Shout out !😂❤😎
I'm not sure why but I no longer get notifications for your channel. Ok, that being said thank you for covering this crazy case
Peter! Thanks for all you do. I would love to hear you breakdown the Marcellus Williams case
I'm just waiting for this to go to trial. Si curious how it will go
They spilling the tea!
"I wouldn't say this case was extraordinarily difficult for an attorney."...You haven't had to deal with Sarah Boone!
Stay safe, Peter. Take care of yourself and your family ❤
Mr. Moreno was initially interviewed by the detectives a day or so after the death of Jorge back in 2/2020. I think he was already going to be a witness
Boone Id imagine is the type of person who would get pulled over and tell the officer shes traveling, not driving. 😂
Caught ya on rewatch. Still love your channel
This seems like a complete abuse of our justice system. I think of all the defendants with terrible representation and how this has gone. It doesn’t seem right.
Hello from Australia Peter love your channel
@Peter, remember that it was two bankers boxes, videos, and DEALING WITH SARAH BOONE AND HER ENDLESS CRAP.
