Poor car was really due an oil change, and they got good value from those brake discs. That weird wire coil thing was indeed a disintegrated air scoop from behind the bumper, they are renowned for failing but I never saw one that bad ! I think the "correct" oil is 5w/40 but I wouldn't complain about 10w/40 in a hotter climate. Glad the car is appreciated and steadily improving !
All us 75 owners know about the Shannon tube. At least you got the oil drain right, not the auto band retaining nut(looks the same). Now that would be a real disaster.
The rear interior lamp needs fixing. I have modified these by attaching a tongue (drill a hole and screw in) and it holds it in place. Headlining easy to remove from front door after removing the seats.
I love watching you change oil. Always a drama. Laughed my head off. Great to restore this old Rover.
