I told my wife it would be the EGR valve. I have two spare on the shelf. Known fault that the cooler spot welds fail, and exhaust gases get in the coolant, and pressurise the coolant.
That’s the best possible outcome from this problem. I was keeping my fingers crossed the liquid would stay blue, after you bypassed the EGR valve. Well done lads ❤.

Cutting your hand with a glove on always looks horrendous, the way the blood gets round it. I cut mine with a Tiger glove on and didn't notice for a couple of minutes. When I took the glove off, my entire hand was covered in blood. I thought I was going to have to go to the Minor Injuries Unit at the local hospital, which would have been really embarrassing, as that's where I work....... Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it looked. Great video, excellent diagnostics to get to the root cause.
@@TransformotionVR I was spannering an old motorbike, taking a cover off to change an alternator belt. It was a bit crudded up and took a bit of shifting. I bashed my hand, but carried on with the work, got the cover off and took the tension off the belt. Only then did I realise I'd cut my hand on the edge of the alternator cover. Once I'd got over how bad it loked and cleaned up a bit the cut was only about 1cm long. Patched it up, finished the job and went to work on the bike the next day. Nothing compared to what we see at work. A woman came in spring time saying her horse hand nipped her hand. She took her glove off and a finger stayed in the glove. FFS!

Good job guys, seen the vacuum filler used on Matt Armstongs channel many times. Just a question on that, if you'd pulled a vacuum on the cooling system without the engine running, would you have got and held a full vacuum? Unlikely if the EGR has failed, so that would have taken you to the EGR cooler being faulty without the 'blood' sweat and tears.
So the vacuum filler was done after the egr cooler was bypassed without the engine running, the sniff test was done with the engine running. But yeah it should hold vacuum indicating no leaks
