Nice reaction, I'm glad you got this suggestion, pretty soon you'll get a lot of BM fans flooding in your comments to help you out with everything about them, but one of things you gotta know is that live performance is when they always really shine, you won't get the blaster sound of the live band in the studio album, not even the same musicians, some tracks are nice either way but the core way to experience this, is at live concerts, they bring the best live shows with top notch production, but sometimes you'll get better experience watching some of their official MV, not always of course, some of those are "Megitsune", "Iine!" and "Doki Doki Morning", maybe "Karate" too, plus you'll meet the original formation.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop (not Kpop) with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. The name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
They are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26, today is her birthday, Happy birthday SuMetal!🥳.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently.
None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
This song was part of the Babyklok Tour in the US and the Europe & UK Tour already finished, everyone love this song and are having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section, not exactly bowing down like here because they know the venue is always packed and it's really hard, but fans still imitate that with the hands and arms, it's something that comes from the MV, when the girls are doing in the middle section and it's part of the story like summoning the spirit of the metal god inside of a neck brace, a reference to a living legend metal god from X-Japan band called Yoshiki.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind.
Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday.
15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date.
This was a live compilation of some shows around 2019 and 2020, the audio and the section when everyone is blowing down is definitely from Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2 in 2020, Momoko (now MomoMetal) was there as an avenger or third backup dancer. The Western Kami Band, a set of selected and talented musicians from the Western side of the world are playing and backing up the girls with the metal sound according to the lore, yup, they got a lore and oh boy it's huge, let's just say they were on a mission under the guidance of the Fox God, prior to this band they've been playing with another set of Japanese musicians, also super talented, so you won't see the same members around in all of their shows, usually the guitarists switch here and there prior to 2019, with this new Western Kami Band the set is more stable, only the bassist was switched throughout the recent World Tour 2023, none of them are official members, only the girls.
The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan, like i already told you.

If your gonna ygo down the Babymetal foxhole , you really need to watch a variety. Things like megitsune, ijamne dame zettai, doki doki morning, iine, headbanger, The "official videos" and keep in mind , the two younger ones , Yui and Moa were literally 11 and 12 , maybe just turning 13. And Su (the lead singer 13-14 when filming those videos . And those were before Babymetal was actually a standalone act.
Then you need to balance it out with songs like monochrome, light and darkness, believing , mirror mirror and so on from the album that came out this year.
It will show you to expect the unexpected from them. Then you have tons of songs in between.
You should also check out headbanger again. This time look for the "Moabanger" version. They always do special things around the girls birthdays. On this version , it's a day or two before or after Moa's 20th birthday (she's the one that had the pigtails in this version) and she sings the second half of the song . Showing she can sing great also. Not to mention it has subtitles so you know what their singing.

if no one already explained the song here it is in a nutshell. The sone is basically about a girl going to a concert on the night of her 15th (Ichi go) birthday. !5 in Japan is the age where manditory educatuion ends so a person now has a big decision to make. So it'c kind of a melopncolly experiance where she is saying goodby to her childhood. I'm sure someone else will be along who can eloborate a lot more. When the fans are bowing, the are saying hedoban (Headbang).Su is the lead singer and the other two in this clip are Moa and Momo. At the time of this video Momo was not an official member of Babymetal and was refered to as an "Avenger" she was a fill in dancer for a previos memebr who had left due to health reasons. April 1, 2023 Momo became an official member of BabyMetal. FYI: to day is SuMetals 26th birthday.

When Babymetal performs live, it's not so much a concert as it is a religious experience. We bow to Queen Su when she commands us to headbang.
Jokes aside, the song is about a 15 year old girl sneaking out of her home and going to her first metal show. It's about transitioning from childhood to adulthood and celebrating that moment by doing something memorable to mark the occasion that will stay with her for live.
Babymetal is made up of three members, although during the period where this video was filmed, there were only two members and a backup dancer. The original members who appear in this video are Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto), the lead vocalist holding the mic, and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi), on the right side. The third girl on the left is Momoko Okazaki, who officially joined the group earlier this year under the name Momometal, but was serving as Avenger (backup dancer) at the time. The other original founding member, Yuimetal, left the group in 2018 due to illness.
Babymetal began in 2010 as a sub-unit of the J-pop idol group Sakura Gakuin, when Su-metal was 12, and Moametal and Yuimetal were 10, so the girls have been performing as Babymetal for more than half their lives! Babymetal was the brainchild of their producer/manager Key "Kobametal" Kobayashi, who wanted to revitalize interest in metal music in Japan, and thought that blending metal with J-pop would make it more approachable for new audiences.
Over their 13+ year career, Babymetal have released four studio albums, 16 live albums, toured the world multiple times, played many of the world's biggest metal festivals, and toured with and/or collaborated with some of the biggest names in metal.

BABYMETAL are that most rare thing, a band doing something new and untried. They brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings.
BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music).
BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. They are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement.
BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies, dance and hype). They are key to what makes BABYMETAL different, they lead the crowd, they give them cues when to jump, shout, chant, pump their fists, sing along and so much more - they are the vital link, the bridge between the crowd and the band and they are black belts in crowd control.
The original third member, Yuimetal, last performed in October 2017. She missed a whole year, unable to perform for undisclosed health reasons. In October 2018 she announced that she was still not fully recovered and, being unable to perform, she had decided she would leave the band.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo for the next 4-5 years through to and a bit beyond their 10th anniversary. This video used clips from several different concerts during this time - Su and Moa were being supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers) who would take turns dancing in the third spot.
Only now, since 1st April 2023, are they a trio again with Momometal.
When they started in 2010 Su was 12, Yui and Moa were 11. Su-metal's birthday was yesterday (20th Dec) Moa is 24, Momoko is 20.
They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They were phased in gradually from October 2012. The Kami Band members are all world class musicians and BABYMETAL needed them to move to the next level and to start touring the world, but make no mistake - BABYMETAL are the three girls, they had to prove themselves playing for free in shopping malls, a side stage by the food court used for comedians at a festival, tiny venues with a 150 capacity, and they had to find an audience that nobody (except perhaps their producer Kobametal) believed would exist before the Amuse talent agency would provide them with the beginnings of their financial backing to bring in a live band.
They had started in 2010 with little or no budget so they sang to a backing track at the start and when they started doing their own small shows guys in skeleton suits would pretend to play the instruments.
The Kami Band may be session musicians with their own projects and bands, so they do swap in and out depending on their own availability, but the same hard core of about 6 or 7 musicians played the vast majority of concerts since they became the full time support early in 2014.
From their first appearance in October 2012 the Kami Band only played at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. They became the full time support for all live shows at the start of 2014 and have been with BABYMETAL ever since - but only for live shows, they do not record the studio versions.
In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then. It was them in this video - Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums.
In 2014 BABYMETAL started to tour outside of Asia and Japan for the first time coming to Europe and the US and since then they have won new fans all over the world and become internationally the most successful Japanese band ever and one of the very best live bands on the planet right now (with about 30 international awards to their name to prove that is not just my own opinion) - their 3rd album released in 2019 was the first by any Asian group to reach number 1 in the US Billboard Hard Rock charts.
They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it.
Sounds like you'll be listening to 'Gimme Chocolate' next - the official video is from a live show but has the studio audio - try the time they played it on US TV on The late Show with Stephen Colbert instead.

Seeing Babymetal live was the best show I’ve ever been to.

This concert was the day after Su-Metal's 16th birthday in 2013 and is the best live performance of Headbanger out there. Another great song to react to is Road of Resistance-Live in Japan. Both videos show the amazing crowd control of the group.

'Gimme Chocolate!!' has its live debut the day after Su's 16th birthday.
She was still 16 when 'Road of Resistance' was first performed live at O2 Academy Brixton, although she would turn 17 the next month.

Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal.
BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.).
One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born.
The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads.
And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them.
And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did).
In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on UA-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting.
But the success of BabyMetal on UA-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example.
How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album.
-Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West.
-Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems)
And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases)
Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ).
The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.

Great reaction, hi from Ireland, long since a babymetal fan now since watching the lead singer Su in road of resistance live in Japan, performing to thousands at 16, can't imagine the feeling at that age. One you cannot miss along with a multitude of greats, monochrome live, etc. If you do more make sure it's always the live shows

I like when they preformed with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Singing in English and nailed the songs even though Halford hit that high pitch. Babymetal is a great group.

Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information.
BABYMETAL started as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin.
Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess.
Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls.
Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks.
Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs.

Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts.
Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs.
Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot!
Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch.
BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of hich Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows.
AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021.
They were:
Momoko Okazaki (see above).
Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist.
Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive.

As indicated on another comment, a BABYMETAL show is not a spectator event. It is very much a participatory activity and the audience does have it's own choreography and lines.
The bowing during the breakdown is called "dogeza hedabon" which is a full-bodied headbanging that was part of the original choreography. Watch the Legend M performance of Headbangereer!!!! (a.k.a Moabanger) to see what I mean.

Nice reaction. Welcome to the foxhole. If you're going to one of their concerts better start getting in shape. Babymetal has been around since 2010. 12/20/23 was Su-metals 26th birthday. And this song holds a special place for Babymetal. It's all about going to your first concert by yourself on your 15th birthday. In Japanese culture 15 is the age you can kind of go out without an adult with you. Takes the train to the show and rushes to the front of the stage. Imagine if this was your first live show ever. Spoiled and ruined for life. Chasing the unicorn, the rest of your life trying to find a concert better than that first experience. Lucky for all of us Babymetal has the cure. They already started announcing tour dates for next year. Su-metal is the lead singer, Moametal and Momometal are scream and dance although they do a lot more than that. Like leading the crowd in those cheers. Babymetal secret to crowd control. Two things follow what Moa and Momo are doing and if Su tells you to form a bigger circle. You don't ask or question why. You just do it. And everyone becomes part of the show. During the song they sing Hedoban. Which in Japanese is headbang and number one fan. They are proclaiming to headbang at the show and that they are the bands number one fan. In Babymetals case I think from that audience there's a lot of folks who want to claim to be their number one fan. I think she definitely gets Babymetal. She wanted to be in that crowd.
