Regarding your question about frame durability. I just finished a series of videos myself on the Crux 35 airframe. I actually broke one airframe at the base of the arm. That was a hard crash onto cement at a weight of 210grams with a 4S 750mah battery. I think I was just unlucky really. The other Crux 35 frame I'm flying regularly now is holding up just fine though. The only concern I had with the frame was those 25mm mounting holes which are positioned right at the base of the arms. It will be interesting to see if any other people have issues with the frame breaking at that point near the 25mm mounting holes.
I had a break in the same area with the HD from a pretty hard hit on the concrete. Not unexpected and an easy swap to a new bottom frame....if they are available. I had to wait for a shipment from China but now see them around locally. I now have a spare. Plus, I like this little guy so much that I now have two identical ones. The thing I was most concerned about was the amp rating on the ELRS version, but that hasn't been an issue so far.

Hello Nick, I know it’s an old video but today I flew my crux35hd vista for the first time. First three batteries were with no action camera and really liked how it flew. My fourth and last flight were with a caddx peanut and when I reviewed the footage the jello was evident specially at low to mid throttle. I was using the hm factory mount for insta360 go 2 that supposedly is free of jelo. Have had the same experience? Any thoughts?
Sorry. I can't speak to the performance with a peanut, I don't have one. I don't recall using an external HD camera on mine. Maybe I did in the original analog version video?
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you for the response Nick. I believe the peanut is the same as insta360 go2. I’ll look into the tune. Thanks again and happy holidays.

Nick! I was looking for a good bnf quad to do a little freestyle with.. after watching your original review of the Crux35 analog version with the spi elrs built in receiver... I used your BGNickBurns at checkout 🙃. Just waiting on that and the tx12 with a elrs 2.4ghz module to come in now. Shipping...gauhh. Anyways one question. I do fly analog. I was wondering. If I wanted to go the hdzero route... would the vrx be compatible with any goggles with hdmi in. Or are they specifically only for the fatshark goggles?
The vrx should work with any goggle that accepts hdmi input. I have heard the skyzone 02x goggles don't work with the vrx. I can't confirm. I do have confirmation from others that skyzone 04x do work the vrx. I have attached the vrx to my tv as well. I think as long as the goggles have launched in the last year it will be compatible. Older goggles might not. Older goggles also don't have the display resolution to see the enhanced image quality of HDZero. Probably not worth buying those. I have your crux35 arrives soon and give you many fun flights.
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you for clarification on the vrx. I have a pair of skyzone 03s and they aren't oled but have an hdmi in. For now I'm going to just stick with my analog life. Eventually I may upgrade to a new pair and try out the hdzero system. 👍
You were testing a GNB 650mAh battery in this video, running it high voltage charged - how has it held up over time? Has it been ok? Thanks as always for the great videos 🥳
I wouldn't want to commit to anything just yet, my outside flying has been limited this winter. I suspect I only have 30 or so flights on those batteries at HV.
Hi Nick, thanks for the video! Asking for a friend - is analog Crux35 still the better choice within 3.5-4" toothpick class? If not, what are the alternatives?
I do think the crux35 is better than the others in the 3.5inch category. Might be for 4inch as well. I have only flown 3-4 4inch quads. In the ones I have flown I prefer the crux35.
I believe we have to change the setting in the camera. The stick commands to get into the camera are on page 15 of the manual www.hd-zero.com/_files/ugd/967e02_164888fcc5904386a6331d68325db71b.pdf depending on the googles we might have to make an adjustment there as well.
Just did this and test flew yesterday with great results. Shogun emperor says changing the rates, yes rates not pids, caused him to have immediate flyaway on arming.. I have been using stock rates anyway, so did not change them. Updated my second one today and it passed the hover test with flying colors. If anyone does this, note that happymodel also has a diff file to apply following updating.
@@ChrisParayno In a diveristy rx have one antenna vertical and other horizontal, this eliminates the null in the reception pattern, especially when flying inside up and downstairs.
I use the radiomaster zorro with elrs, radiomaster has other good radios with elrs as well. We also need the vrx or goggles specifically for hdzero. Then we need batteries and a charger.
Entry level recommendation for radio & goggle is usually a Radiomaster Zorro (ELRS version) and the EV800D goggles. Will run you about $240. Best charger for your smaller needs as a new flyer would probably be the 608AC, comes with a built in power supply so it simplifies things. Yea, when it comes to quad performance lower weight will always win. But the other aspects is latency and image quality. As we know Hdzero has low latency, and vista will be better in image quality. I don't get terribly hung up on latency, I do notice it but adjust with a few flights.

The manual has the binding procedure. At this time I would ask/check what version of elrs is on the betafpv module. If it has been upgraded to elrs 2.0 we will either have to downgrade it to version 1. or upgrade the rx to version 2. I hope you had a good New years celebration, quiet or not. The Crux looks nice,I suspect that near motor mount would be it's weakest point. I am looking into Siyi hm30 hd fpv system . yep Another enters the market.
A pool eh, Could do reviews of subs and boats soon. Make sure to Have Extra sand after it's in. just incase you need it for settling or anything else.
I have a half a dozen high def gps cometographic quads including DJI and cinewhoops. I can not see the need for a racing drone that does high def videos without a three axis gimbal! Everything has a place!
Awesome that they came out with a HD zero version👍. Are they the first to do that with a bnf? My analoge version crux35 came in yesterday. I have to install the elrs on my jumper t lite first. But can tell you in the future how the frame will hold up.
Yes, I believe happymodel is first with HDZero BNF.
I broke a arm clean off right at the screw hole for the 30x30 mount… other than that by far one of my favorite quads i have!! 9-10min flights of mild freestyle on 850mha pack
Oh man. Hopefully just an unlucky break and not a serious weak spot
Great review. Just waiting for the new internal ELRS radios to come out before making the switch. This quad will be my first with ELRS. Hoping the new Radio master zorro is well reviewed
yes, there should be more elrs exclusive radios coming. I am hoping they are nice. I only have one of them at the moment.
@@NickBurnsFPV Can't wait to see your reviews on some new ones soon I hope
@@vassilis331 I think the go2 is double the weight or even more, and the go2 has an internal gyro. Peanut gets power from external source but does look like the same form factor.
@@NickBurnsFPV caddx peanut has internal battery, it’s the same product as go2, even the mounts are the same. I believe you meant the Runcam camera.
Hey. I have jello in my peanut as well but the ND filters help a lot on the Crux35.
Wow, 5min on 3.5" HD. Very very cool
Great flying! I had wondered if trees had been removed, thanks for mentioning that! Congrats in the pool too. I hope it doesn't get any quads in it!
Do not worry about the childish comments just haters out there that can not do as good as your reviews .. I love them keep them coming getting the analog 35 love 3 and 3.5 drones quiet in neighborhoods
As always great explanation 👍 hey Nick I got my HDzero crux 35 with the frsky BNF but I noticed it does not have the VTX tables on beta flight 4.3 config ..the HDzero site says that this whoop VTX has no smart audio .. I clicked on UART 1 and checked rc tramp then I got my VTX tables. Hmmm 🤔 hope all is good like this
Nice bud, loved that size of quad aince the Gt130.
Dude, you fly the hell out of those things!
Great concise coverage of options
Nick, have you tried that one with biblades to see if you can gain a couple of minutes fly time. Happy 2022!!
I haven’t yet. I don’t often shoot for flight time, I tend to need a break after a bit 😂
@@NickBurnsFPV :D
Love it Nick! And man you would tear it up on a MultiGP track! Happy New Year!
Maybe one day I can find the time to venture to a race, hope there is an over 50 group :)
I'm waiting for Hdzero to come up with a micro setup, small enough for tiny whoops on 1s.
surely its just a matter of time.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you very much for your answer, Nick!
Hi Nick, I have emailed HDZero but wondering if you might be able to answer, I have this quad but i have a 4:3 view in goggles? how do I get 16:9?
I believe we have to change the setting in the camera. The stick commands to get into the camera are on page 15 of the manual www.hd-zero.com/_files/ugd/967e02_164888fcc5904386a6331d68325db71b.pdf depending on the googles we might have to make an adjustment there as well.
Flawless agin Nick. Happy new year !! So some waterproofing vids in the future. Lol.
very well could be. I hope to stay out of the water. It should be covered when not in use, one of my top priorities in getting a pool
Hey nick! Have you updated any of the AIO boards with ELRS SPI to a hex with elrs 2.0?
Hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/JhgcakGkut8/v-deo.html
Not yet. I have to lag a bit behind as I have a number or quads/rx I would have to update.
@@carlosrito thanks, got it updated! now I just need to see if I backed up the VTX table...
Wow it looks good. Love the 93 grams
Hey Nick, have you done a review of the HD scout? I don't recall. This quad looks like an awesome winner for those looking for an HD alternative.
I haven't, are there not many reviews out?
Don't bother Nick. FS has dropped support of the product already
@@DumbThumbsFPV ouch, that isn't a good sign for the future.
@@NickBurnsFPV One question I have, is there a reason you have one taller antenna then the other?
@@ChrisParayno In a diveristy rx have one antenna vertical and other horizontal, this eliminates the null in the reception pattern, especially when flying inside up and downstairs.
That thing ripps!
Happy new year :)
Let me just say I've never seen you fly like this... ever.... that's some confidence and or zero latency making your floor it?
I can say with much certainty, I suspect is mainly have such a light 3.5inch quad, the elrs could play a small role.
Man I’ve wanted to get into FPV for soo long. I was really considering the DJI cinewhoop but if I bought this what radio / etc do I buy!!
Batteries are at your discretion, most anything sold on FPV websites are acceptable.
Sorry if I missed it but was that flight on the stock tune (not including your rates)?
correct, pid tune is as shipped to me. I set my rates, mode to switches and osd. Otherwise all stock.
Warning: sharkbyte does NOT work wth the HDMI input of the skyzone's 02x.
That's odd... But thanks for the heads up!
@@MCsCreations Don't tell me... Fatshark says: its not our fault, its designed for farshark. Skyzone says: there's an HDCP incompatibility. Fatshark answers: this is not true.
And I'm left cold after having spend my dollars on a kit....
@@nikotttin Damn! 😕
I have heard of a few running it on skyzone 04x, not sure about 03 or 02.
@@NickBurnsFPV no luck with the 02x here. Some Rcgroups members told me the same with the 02c. What annoys me is that neither company tell anyone nor take any responsibility.
I'm ThePamPaw! Freestyle videos and lots of 3.5 inch flights! 🙌
I have both the vista and analogue version and a heavy crash caused the dji one to break an arm just before the motor mount.
New bottom plate was £12 delivered so not a biggy, great quad though....just wish the arms were replaceable.
There aren't too many 3.5" with replacable arms - I think one of the 3.5" avant quads Nick reviewed has removable arms
yes, I believe that is correct, only the avantquads 3.5 has replaceable arms.
@@NickBurnsFPV Replaceable arms would be a nice upgrade for the crux35, massive fan of your channel BTW.👍
does the aio have an open rx and tx available for crossfire? Also does it come with any hd camera mounts like for the go 2? Thanks
Here is the manual with all the information you might need www.happymodel.cn/index.php/2021/09/11/manual-of-crux35-crux35-hd-spi-elrs-and-spi-frsky-version/
Hey Nick great video as always! I am on the fence about getting the Crux35 Vista(DJI) version or HD ZERO Version ( I have both DJI Goggles 2 and HD ZERO Goggles) can you or anyone that has both please comment on which would be better performance, I am guessing HD ZERO because it would be lighter but I am not sure, anyone know? thanks in advance
Yea, when it comes to quad performance lower weight will always win. But the other aspects is latency and image quality. As we know Hdzero has low latency, and vista will be better in image quality. I don't get terribly hung up on latency, I do notice it but adjust with a few flights.
I feel like grandpa in the slow lane compared to you! LOL.
It seems like we like different sorts of flying. Flying fun comes in all flavors, fun is fun.
I see that yours has the same issue that mine does. I am not able to get those OSD elements to go any lower on the screen. On my Mobula 7 I can put them at the very bottom but on the Crux35 that is as low as they go.
That is correct with the HDzero version. Its this way with any quad and HDzero right now.
@@NickBurnsFPV Somehow they were able to do it on the HDZero Mobula 7 but I have been unable to replicate their sorcery on the Crux.
@@Brandon-tr7ow In my mobula 7 hdzero video there is clearly a single line gap at the bottom. Maybe there is some setting inconsistency between firmwares and cameras. I will see if Karl knows.
@@NickBurnsFPV Sorry, did not know I was logged into my other account on that last reply. I am pretty sure I did not modify anything on the stock Mobula 7 OSD. Just uploaded some flight footage from last night. I also have some flight footage from my Chimera 4LR with the TX5M.1 that is uploading now that also has the items at the bottom. Both the Mobula and the Crux were bought from your links BTW. Thanks for the great content. I love the mini drones and your channel is the place to go for them. ua-cam.com/video/PBsXXlOTtUo/v-deo.html
I actually managed to move the elements. It turns out that if you connect to the SpeedyBee app through an android device the option to change between NTSC and PAL is there which is what is needed to move those elements. Only took me 9 months to figure out. The NTSC/PAL switch was not showing in Betaflight configurator on my desktop.
look at this handsome guy! always a pleasure thanks for the review!
lol, my wife agrees :)
Can you please tell me how long the standoffs are?
Mine took a fair amount of abuse... Bottom plate finally broke between the arm & motor holes.
I wonder if that is the v1 frame. My understanding they did modify the frame and came out with a v2.
Dunno? Looks like the same one they're currently selling. But, I'll be keeping my eye open for V2.
@@tskfpv5399 the v2 frame has been out a good long while now. I think if you bought within the first 90 days of launch it would only be v1 within that time frame.
I can't find the DJI version anywhere
This is a listing, note it is titled vista which is what we commonly call dji, but its not like a mavix or phantom, no gps etc.
Will it work with the HDZero goggles!?
Yes hdzero googles and vrx are compatible with hdzero vtxs
love your Breakfast Club shirt! HNY Nick!
Thank you. Its a fun shirt isn't it
Pretty fantastic flying and review, Nick! 😃
I'm really liking the way this hobby is going to!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
How do you like the fatshark scout hd goggles?
I do like them but they don’t have many options or settings. Just plug in and go. I think the screen with hdzero looks better than my hdo2 goggles
I need contacts when I fly so my hdzero still kinda looks like analog 😂🤣😂
Might need to see if you can get goggle inserts to help enjoy fpv. This company makes some of the most used and possibly best www.rho-lens.com/
How the bloody hell do you get this to bind with the BetaFpv Elrs Module?. mines still in the box from a month ago
The manual has the binding procedure. At this time I would ask/check what version of elrs is on the betafpv module. If it has been upgraded to elrs 2.0 we will either have to downgrade it to version 1. or upgrade the rx to version 2. To update the rx we have to flash betaflight hex with elrs v2, take a cli backup before doing this. Also I believe we have to be at 250hz packet rate and 250mw, not certain about the mw part.
@@NickBurnsFPV Its literally doing my bloody head. Iv just got them both out the box now after seeing a few videos on here. im still stuck though
@@k1ortia How are you stuck? I understand its a binding issue. Are you suing the button on the back of the module, and the button on the receiver page of betaflight. Are you using a lua script, what is the lua set to?
@@NickBurnsFPV Not sure mate. im just not getting anywhere. Both the crux35 and Micro module have successfully upgraded to 2.0 but the lua script is not working properly on my Qx7. and still cant bind

Is it compatible with the emax e8 transmitter and the Transporter 2 hdzero goggles?
The goggles yes, but can't be sure about the transmitter, in theory they should be but I am not aware if there are elrs version available for the E8 transmitter.
@NickBurnsFPV i bought the tinyhawk 3 plus freestyle RTF kit and when i Search in banggood the Emax e8 Transmitter there is also elrs in the description
@NickBurnsFPV i Just got my Crux 35 and plugged a lipo in but i only get a black Picture but i am on the right Channel because i can also See the Name of the Drone at the bottom.
@@emanuel_fpv seeing the osd elements doesn't ensure both the vtx and the goggle receiver are on the exact same channel. At close range we can see the the camera image and osd when on close channels, but range will be poor.
@@emanuel_fpv If the picture continues to be black when on the exact same channel on both ends I suggest contacting the retailer it was purchased from before taking any measures to troubleshoot or correct.
