Don't know if I should tell you but your recommendations have my highest satisfaction ratio of all the local food bloggers I follow. I can't see why you don't have over 10 thousand subs! Excellent reviews again.
I also like it when she does NOT zoom in the food prior to consuming.....that honestly irritates me and also, she may at times, gently say how she feels about a place without badgering them.....be nice about it! she does a good job!
Aloha Misty! You know I always enjoy watching your videos, you deserve many more followers because of your honesty and to the point reviews of food you eat and the places the food is from.
I went to Soon's in Salt Lake on thier opening day over 30 years ago! Ono, everything tastes better in Hawaii. I grew up right up the street in Aliamanu. Now is miss Home.
Great to see you back! Thanks for going to so many places today. Everything looked delicious - lumpia were crunchy and looked so yummy since they were cooked to order. Haven’t been to Soon’s in a long time, gotta try the mandoo and chicken😋. Jet’s sure is reasonable, will have to check it out. Have a relaxing weekend!
Everything looked delicious! You do an excellent presentation of your food experiences. I definitely miss my Beautiful Hawaii. Thank you for another great video! ❤️😊🙏🏻
Stadium DOES make excellent food meals!!!....If I owned an eatery, and she gave me +++ reviews I probably invite her over again for complimentary meal!
That katsu and ribs combo is a killer deal cuz nowadays, just the katsu plate alone can run over $10 easily. I know I shouldn't have watched your vlogs at night cuz it drives me crazy and I can't go to sleep, thinking about all that delicious food, hahaha. Thank you so much for sharing all the good spots.
Yes what a deal for a massive amount of food! Oh so sorry about you not being able to go to bed LOL I know the feeling when I watch other food shows on UA-cam late at night and my stomach rumbles. 🤣
They had the fried chicken plate on their pictures and it also looked tasty. Now that you mentioned it being great I will try it next time I go. Thanks!
I've never been to Jet's but I do sort of remember Jet Burger (1960s). I love Soon's; some of the best Korean BBQ, IMHO. No choice of banchan, but the meats are onolicious. My wife and I lived in Alii Plantations, behind Ice Palace a loooong time ago. We'd go to Stadium Malts & BBQ every once in a while. They used to be a part of Bob's BBQ. Used to laugh at the sign for "ginat" malts. Check out Stadium Pho - really good Vietnamese food. A little pricey, but then again just about all takeout food is these days. Cheers! Edited to add... Yeah for $12 the Stadium Malts & BBQ combo plate is winnahs for the price.
@@FoodFiend I dunno why....but this holiday weekend, Marks was closed....I know there is construction but I also hope competition did not get the best of them. If they can give me a great ginger chicken plate, they'd see me coming!!!!!!!!!
Misty, I somehow knew you’d take that slice of Portuguese sausage in one bite. Not sure how I knew. You’re da best! 🤙🏾. I’d do the same. 😁. Made me hungry, actually, now I gotta slice me some Hoffy brand
I’m in Alabama I miss Portugese Sausage,we used to always go to Soons, and Stadium Malts.Don’t know if Marks Drive In still in Stadium Mall.you’re so lucky your mom makes Korean food. You bought a lot of Soons plate lunches😉😁Is Chun WahKam still around by Shiros Saimin in Aiea❓I missed your vids, I’m becoming hungry now.🤣😁👍
Yes Mark's Drive In is still there and will be on my next Salt Lake video. I was getting full LOL. Chun Wah Kam is still in the Waimalu Shopping Center by Shiro's. Go make something good to eat to satisfy your cravings 😊😊😊
The best thing at Soon's is is the mandoo! I go just for that. It is the best mandoo around. Young's for meat jun though. I like how Soon's leaves the bone in the chicken.
Check if J & S Lumpia has fried vegetable lumpia. You’ll love it. Dip it in vinegarlic. Their shanghai lumpia is the biggest of its kind I’ve ever seen. Supposed to be like finger lumpia, one bite per piece. Turon must have a piece of jackfruit in it. Paired with the sweet cooking banana, it’s crazy good!
Ok watched your salt lake video.Havent been to Jets since 2019, Soon since the mid 70s🤣 college days,J&S 3/4/2022. But ill try again never tried Stadium Malt .
Soons made their food a little healthier as back in the day they kept the fatty drippings in their plate so the kalbi and bbq chicken is not as juicy. Soons got good sides though, i like it but i prefer Young’s for my korean food too. I used to go youngs after going to the spa and my workout back in the day..
My taste buds are like yours. I prefer savory over sweet. Of all the places you tried, I like the katsu/rib plate from Stadium and the price can't be beat for all the food you got. I also like lumpia shanghai and turon. Sarap 😊🤙
I saw Salt Lake, and was like what are you doing in Utah? Is this close to the Aloha Stadium? Kalbi is my favorite for Korean BBQ, and yes I strip the bones clean. I worry I might chip a tooth one day doing that.
Yes Salt Lake is the last suburb of Honolulu to the west. After that the stadium becomes Aiea. It is full of tall apartment buildings and really used to be a lake back in the day. The only thing left of the lake is at the Honolulu Country Club.
Stadium BBQ used to use the same name as the dillingham one, but I think legal issues forced them to change to Stadium, but the food is still pretty damn good! btw....I tried the beef rib/baby back ones on kalihi, they barbecued it too long....the meat was tough and I could hardly take the meat off the bone! The amount that Stadium gives per plate IS FRICKEN HEAVY!!! Lastly.....where on EARTH on Oahu will you find a diner whos OPEN (DID I SAY OPEN!!!!) on Christmas and New Years Day!!!!!!!! thats when I make a point to go get my rib plate...especially if its my bday!!!!! The chinese family who runs that long time shop are VERY HARD WORKERS!!!!!
Did Soon's get better? The last time I ate there I had meat jun and the meat was paper thin. It used to be a good balance between the meat and batter but I think they got cheap.
I'm not sure. I haven't eaten it since this video (which has been years) because I am very picky with Korean food and don't really care to buy plate lunch type Korean. Plus, I only eat out once a week to film. If I visit a restaurant more than once, then it's probably very good to me, but that is rare. I guess the cost of ingredients and supplies have taken a toll on some restaurants so you will either get less food or thinner meat. Sad.
I think that street is same wer the old enterprise was after getting my car 🚘 🚘 i would go there its fast cheap and filling 🥧 🥧 I think Mark weins ate there too 🌺🤙🌺🥣🍖🥓
Can get more from McDonald's big platter meal for breakfast for about same price. Soons is ok kinda skimpy on there meat they give, did you know meat jun is a Hawaii thing you cant get it at Korean places on the mainland.
Yeah I'm part Korean so I know about the Hawaii thing but jeon is found in Korea. It means fritter or fried thing. So there is fish jeon, meat jeon and veg jeon in Korean just not that sweet meat found between it. That's the Hawaii Americanized part of our meat jun. 🤙
I loved the video it was like food porn..Lol nah kidding no but seeing the food up close really looked so ono great job with that looking forward to the next spots you hit up great review✌
I love soons but only for nostalgia, meat jun is too thin n super overrated but sauce ok. Yes Youngs my fav n kims. Sweet sauce too. I like the rest of the dishes tho. I think banchan is for Japanese tongues with the mild n sweeter flavor no kick.
Don't know if I should tell you but your recommendations have my highest satisfaction ratio of all the local food bloggers I follow. I can't see why you don't have over 10 thousand subs! Excellent reviews again.
Thanks so much Ronald! That means so much to me! I am glad you found some suggestions to your liking!

Aw thanks Paula! I appreciate it. 🙏
I totally agree and enjoy your food reviews a lot!

Wow! That's amazing that you got to experience that! They are still going strong for sure. Hope you can come home soon to get your grind on. 🤙🤙🍴
Now those plates literally packed a punch!!! Thanks for another detailed review. You Rock!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
You're welcome Walt! Yes some massive plates for sure.
Great to see you back! Thanks for going to so many places today. Everything looked delicious - lumpia were crunchy and looked so yummy since they were cooked to order. Thanks Janice! Now I am not so bogged down with work I can continue on my regular schedule. 😊
Love watching your videos lumpia variety so good, great job 🌺
Thank you!
Everything looked delicious! You do an excellent presentation of your food experiences. I definitely miss my Beautiful Hawaii. Thank you for another great video! ❤️😊🙏🏻
You're welcome!
Thanks for the great reviews! Will be watching for future episodes.
Thanks so much for watching Dale! Have a great day. 🤙😊
The Ribs and Chicken Katsu plate is such a great deal. The chicken has a nice, thin crispy exterior …
Stadium DOES make excellent food meals!!!....If I owned an eatery, and she gave me +++ reviews I probably invite her over again for complimentary meal!

Yeah, Bob's at the Stadium Mall had a really good fried chicken plate ... but that combo plate you had looks good as well! Need to stop by!
They had the fried chicken plate on their pictures and it also looked tasty. Now that you mentioned it being great I will try it next time I go. Thanks!
There used to be a Poke shop at the stadium Shopping Center that's where we used to get our Aku bone to go home and Fry.
Oh wow. I think they're gone. Haven't seen one around.
Awww... I remember my 12th grade year at Moanalua High when my friends and I would go grind at Soon’s after school!
Awesome! Go Menehunes! 😊
I must try these places when I return to Hawaii.
Yes try some of them out. Too many choices though 🤤🤣
Soons Kalbi yum ❤️. I remember getting food there right after school. I went to Aliamanu Intermediate back in the 90s.
I bet the smells of smoke blowing near your classroom was torture! I'd totally be hungry all the time!
yes!!! They have good burgers too or at least they did back then. It was either that or grabbing a snack from a pizza place on the other side.
I've never been to Jet's but I do sort of remember Jet Burger (1960s). I love Soon's; some of the best Korean BBQ, IMHO. No choice of banchan, but the meats are onolicious. Thanks! I love Stadium Pho. I always get their combo pho and a lemonade. It will be in my part 2 along with Mark's Drive Inn. 🤙

Enjoy your breakfast food! I only bit small bites if there's not a lot of sausage. It's like rationing my meat in small bites LOL.

I’ve been to Jet’s in Waianae and their food is pretty solid. I gotta check out this one.
Yes solid food for a reasonable price!
Yummm now I’m hungry
The best thing at Soon's is is the mandoo! I go just for that. It is the best mandoo around. Young's for meat jun though. I like how Soon's leaves the bone in the chicken.
I like Youngs but not a fan of meat jun. Yes shoot me. But I agree on the bone in chicken. So good!

They do have veggie but I like meat in mine LOL.
You got to have onions and carrots in your Mac salad 😉
Ok watched your salt lake video.Havent been to Jets since 2019, Soon since the mid 70s🤣 college days,J&S 3/4/2022. But ill try again never tried Stadium Malt .
Best Kalbi is Jin Joo in Pearl city it’s kinda expensive now but so so good. I think they use the Korean pear in there marinade
Oooh! I always pass by but never tried! Thank you I'm gonna try. Pear in the marinade is legit stuff. 👌
The food looks rather plain! No frills but sometimes straight to the point food is the best! Looks like good standard food!😋
Yes just good old fashioned food! Thanks for watching!
Their chicken wings are good at Bob's. Soon's got some good kalbi, bulgogi, and mandoo
My taste buds are like yours. I prefer savory over sweet. Of all the places you tried, I like the katsu/rib plate from Stadium and the price can't be beat for all the food you got. I also like lumpia shanghai and turon. Sarap 😊🤙
Yes such a deal that can't be beat! You could definitely share it with someone and be satisfied.

Yes very hard workers and generous with the portions! Happy birthday!
Whoa! You had a busy day of eating. Everything looked pretty good. Next trip, gotta try meat jun and mandu. (sp?) Thanks for that Salt Lake adventure.
Yes too much food lol. But my son had a great meal after school. Definitely try the meat jun and mandoo next time! 🤙
Did Soon's get better? The last time I ate there I had meat jun and the meat was paper thin. It used to be a good balance between the meat and batter but I think they got cheap.

That meat jun looked super thin. I prefer mine a little thicker. Great reviews.
Thanks for watching! Yes super thin and kind of dry. Meh.
Yayyy I’ve been waiting for your review of Soon’s meat jun! I’m not a fan either! You don’t have to be so nice! Lol.. I like their kalbi though 😬
Haha, we have the same kind of taste buds then. I did enjoy everything else but not the banchan.
Da bes kogi chon is da one you make at home. That's da only one my wife eats.😂
For sure! Nothing can beat homemade!
I think that street is same wer the old enterprise was after getting my car 🚘 🚘 i would go there its fast cheap and filling 🥧 🥧 I think Mark weins ate there too 🌺🤙🌺🥣🍖🥓
Yes kinda the same road. Aolele St is where Enterprise was. Jets is one over on Ualena St.
Can get more from McDonald's big platter meal for breakfast for about same price. Soons is ok kinda skimpy on there meat they give, did you know meat jun is a Hawaii thing you cant get it at Korean places on the mainland.

Went to Soons today after watching your vid.
They are cash only.
😑
Oh that's irraz. Sorry. Haven't been since I filmed this video which was years ago.
Go to songs Waipahu behind times.
Yeah I been there plenty of times. Just never filmed it yet. Mahalo.
NOW, da plate lunch over 24.00
@Soon’s…
Yikes!
I loved the video it was like food porn..Lol nah kidding no but seeing the food up close really looked so ono great job with that looking forward to the next spots you hit up great review✌
Thanks a lot! Your constructive criticism helped and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I love soons but only for nostalgia, meat jun is too thin n super overrated but sauce ok. Yes Youngs my fav n kims. Sweet sauce too. I like the rest of the dishes tho. I think banchan is for Japanese tongues with the mild n sweeter flavor no kick.
I agree!
Woman eat with your hands like your "Ancestors" ! Forget what some body else thinks !
I TRIED THIER FOOD JUNK
Michael, it seems every place is junk to you from your comments. I think we have different tastebuds.
vay.fyi

I don't care for there they charge .25 for extra hot sauce.
The Ribs and Chicken Katsu plate is such a great deal. The chicken has a nice, thin crispy exterior …
Yes it was good and a deal for sure!
