If you're considering buying a new motorcycle jacket or if you already have a jacket, this video will help you understand the difference between CE level 1 and CE level 2 protectors, it would also help you to understand the information available on the CE mark on your motorcycle riding gear and finally make the right decisions when buying/upgrading your riding gear.
We'll also talk about the tests that the protectors go through in order to get their CE ratings.
Again, there's a lot of information available on the topic and I've included as much as I could in this video. Let me know if there are any more questions you have in the comments.
Special thanks to the guys from Rynox for helping me with some useful information on the topic.

Thank you for the knowledge, very few people stress on the importance of biking knowledge.
Glad you liked the video. Thank you for the kind words and for watching. Ride safe ✌🏻
Great content. Videos like this is much needed in our country. Please continue making such videos on protective gear
Thank you. Please continue watching and sharing these types of videos (not necessarily mine but any good, sensible content). All UA-cam seems to be pushing is clickbait at the moment and the good content gets lost somewhere.
This is a great video, taught me a lot. While others just mention the level of rating, you took the time to take us through what it means. Also, fun narration!
I believe the fit of the Jacket is paramount, even if a jacket is with level 2 armour and does not fit well, it will not serve the purpose! Always best to try a jacket locally than going for a well known brand and not trying at all. I for example, as per the Rynox website, should fit in a small size, however when I try it on, I need a medium! That's the best available locally and that is what I will have to settle for the time being. Cheers for the awesome information through your channel
Your voice is very well modulated. And your flow is very good and structured.
very nice video i was straggling to know whats is level 1 and 2 , thanks
Thank you. I'm glad you found the information useful. Ride safe buddy ✌🏻

This is a very good information to understand the armor before purchasing a new and for many their first riding jacket.
Thanks for sharing.
Can you please review for few of the rynox jackets.?
New rider. This is the only video on UA-cam that explains this so thoroughly. Im still a little confused but that's not your fault im just a squid lol.

Awesome video brother! Very informative. Could please make a video on the brands whose motorcycling riding gear we should avoid buying and also the one preferred.
Thank you 😊 . Be safe
A good informative video, a much needed one. Keep up the good work brother 👍🏻
Such an awesome youtuber. Gives hell of knowledge needed to know by ever rider. Salute boss :-)
What detailing! Not too much, yet not too little either. To CE1 or to CE2, that is the question now. Appreciate it.
Haha thank you kind sir. I learnt a lot while researching too. Stay safe.
@@OggyF Now that's the down to earth attitude I'm talking about! Always look forward to your work. Thanks 🤘🏼
The CE1 and CE2 option is not a choice. Pick CE2 mate. ;) Questions welcome.
Love to see you bhai following u from since 6k subscriber..
Brilliant… indian so called motologgers should see this. Liked and shared
Thanks buddy. Nice video. İ have a question. Shima or Acerbis jackets. Do you have any idea ?. Thanks.
You're welcome.Unfortunately I've not owned any of those brands yet, But you could dop the GT House (on IG) a DM and Kaustubh and the guys should be able to help you. They sell both brands.

very useful information...thank you

Hi Oggy F!
Nice and informational video about the CE-marking.
About Rynox that you reefer to in the video
Cant find any information if their clothes follow any standard. According to their website they use 1680D material in their clothes and talking about that 2000D might not be knitted properly in other fabrics. Why should we believe that their 1680D is knitted properly. They do refer to other professional manufacturers products (CE EN 1621-1 approved) aka protection that they use in their products, and that's alright. But they fail to provide information about if their own fabrics material used in their own clothing.
The European Standard, EN 13595:2002, covers protective clothing for professional motorcyclists, whereas proposed new European Standard, prEN 17092, is for clothing used by non-professional riders; for example, for commuting and leisure use. The two standards will operate alongside each other until at least 2023.
I think this is mandatory to check out when buying mc-clothes, especially when they are made by unknown makers.
Please suggest some good brand and jackets available with proper protection
Thanks for the information, really appreciate. Also can you provide a high level test spec for ce1 & ce2, I mean how much force they apply to find passing transmitted force such as 18kN & 9kN?
Bro I love you video. full information.

Haha thank you. I love fortnine content.
A really helpful video brother.. great work..keep it up 👍😇
Great video ! Looking up for part 2!
Thank you.
Quite an Informative Video, I actually went and checked the Standard in my gear after watching this
Thanks!
Also a Great Birth Control Awareness Video 😆
Superb explanation. very well researched. A big thank you for the quality content! and yes, please make a separate video regarding fit. should one be looking at custom riding gear in case the fit isn't right? I heard Solace offers custom riding jackets in India but I have not come across any feedback regarding the fit and reliability of any custom jackets from Solace.
Hey, Solace doesn't offer custom jackets on a wider scale, but Viaterra plans to do this. Goodluck.
hey Oggy, I have seen you wearing a pant with CE level 1 protectors. Why not switch to CE2 for everyday usage mate ?
The armor in those pants have been swapped out for level 2 Protectors 😊
Excellent video bro. Also make objective suggestions for gear.
I usually stay away from recommending riding gear because it largely depends on the way it fits which would be different for different riders. What I could do is share details about material to look for and features and so on.
Great informative.. very in depth... what are your thoughts on scala riding jacket or other jackets coming in same price range...many in my locality including me both scala jacket with level 1 protection.. but i didnt find any good motoring personnel like you or any other top moto vlogger talk about them... are they good?. A separate dedicated video on jackets under 8k would be great..
Hey Shankar. Thank you for watching and commenting. I haven't had a chance to use any Scala jacket yet so can't comment. Main thing to look out for in any jacket (level 1 or 2) is the way it fits. If it doesn't fit snug around the areas where the armor meets your body, then chances are they'll move around when you crash and won't do much. If they come with adjusters, use them and decide. If you can try out different brands and decide, that would be great.
Hey. What is your budget range Shankar ? I might be able to help you there.
Please do a video about certifications that are there on helmets as well. For example DOT, ECE R22.05
Ok accidentally closed the premier! Will dm on insta. Have a great day Oggy.
Simple, calm and contented videos! Even when dissing the chapris! 😂
"Love you all guys, love you all, come on" 😝
Always happy to answer when it's related to safety. Even if it's steelbird related 🤣. Stay safe✌🏻
Yes we need the separate video.
@oggyf Found it very hard to find the information about the armor ratings on most websites. Checked out Alphinestars, Rev It since I want something lightweight but couldn't find any details regarding which version of armor any had. If you could make a second video on this topic, it would really help us out. Again, thanks for creating videos and being you. :)
Yeah it takes a bit of digging to finally find the information through their websites and owners manuals. Just finishing up a few motorcycle reviews and will then put together a video on the jackets. Thanks for the support and encouragement :). Ride safe.
Very informative video oggy.. nicely done.. could you please do a similar video on helmets please?? Because most beginner riders are only aware of Indian manufactured helmets
Thank you Parth. Will see what I can put together around motorcycle Helmets too.
Would be grt if u do a video on riding gear n the recommended brands/varients
I usually stay away from recommending brands because the fit is the most important aspect to consider. However, I've used and own Rynox riding jackets and they have a considerable amount of adjustment and offer Knox armor inserts too.
Very informative 🙌🙌
Thank u so much
Love you oggy broi 🤩🤩

Very informational video
I literally liked it❤
Thank you. Glad you found it useful 😊
I don't go for ride often or should I say, my parents don't allow me
My daily ride is to and fro from college and I have bought the best quality leather gloves I could afford and a good quality MT helmet but riding jacket is something which I would love to own and wear but storing it is really tough during my daily commute
What should I do in such a situation Oggy?
It really depends on the distance you ride and the speeds you do. If you're stuck in traffic all the way to college and back, then a heavy jacket and all may be overkill considering you won't really need that level of protection at 10kmph. A helmet and gloves should be enough considering we put our hands out immediately to save the impact when we fall.
Oggy....
Make a video on jacket material and also riding boots....
Will try to do so. Thank you for watching.
My riding jacket is certainly level 2, rynox tornado. But pants are not level 2 certified. Are level 1 enough for knee protection?
Such a informative video
Bought an alpinestar jacket online and then the sleeves are too long that the elbow protectors are not on the right place but then the length from chest to stomach fits perfectly fine.
Crystal and Clear :)
Great video man!
Thank you
Good stuff. Thank man.
Excellent,God bless you
So all
EN1621-1:2012
EN1621-2:2014
EN1621-3:2018
have L1 & L2 for each of them? Just that in each of them the amount of force transferred through them is less. Also certain level of armour is enough for different parts of the body. Did I understand it right?
Your summary of the standards was right. Could you clarify what you meant by "only some parts need protection"?
@@OggyF I mean for the shoulder and the elbows required level of protection is L1 but if you wanted you could upgrade to L2 whereas for chest and back the minimum required protection is L2. Knox or d3o is upto us but nothing less than L2.
Hey Bharath. CE2 is the highest standard but CE1 is also updated for the chest in 2018. The force transferred is about the CE level itself. CE2 is better, nevertheless. About the parts of the body, see the armour marking for limbs. (1621:1) for example - S/E stands for Shoulder/ELBOW and so on we have S/E/K. Just let me know if there are more questions.
What if I buy all body organ CE level 2 protector Pads and get them sewn on my cycling jacket by local tailor? or Is there any superglue I can use which will put them firmly on it? I dont want to wear motorcycle jacket as I need them for cycle riding
I didn't know all the information before buying but After your video i went to rynox website they are using 2014 standard. In air gt ( level 2) and in their higher range jacket it is not mentioned.
The use Knox level 2 armor on the high end jackets. The CE standard is up to date for those too.
Some good budget jacket of lvl 2❤️
