    Thanks -- your info was great -- I am a Hipcamp Host. Not all sites are great -- great sites are offered only if the host is very committed to offering good memories (as you experienced)...I appreciate your honesty about the noise pollution piece and that you knew it could be a problem due to the reviews. The review process is not manipulated by Hipcamp EVER. The Host has the power to draw a guest "in" but once someone stays as a guest they have the power to draw -- or dissuade those who follow. AND ask questions about any concerns early... you do not have to reserve to communicate with a host...if the host won't answer a question quickly and professionally before you "book" -- then beware and don't book with them. - Don't go by the review percentage. The site may have 100% but only 5 reviews - not a sure thing -- to new and untried - but if a host has 98% and 50+ reviews that give details about being positive impressions == then that is great.

    We love using Hipcamp, the last two holiday weekends it was so nice just to be able to go out hike and explore the mountains without having to worry about searching for a campsite in a state park or a primitive site on the side of the road. Hip camp is so awesome we use it at least a couple times a month. Thanks for your video it was great as always.

    Excellent video. You got me looking at hip camps in my neighborhood as well as South Carolina. My back yard was a 3 RV trailers but they were not zoned so it was discontinued when we bought this place. It would be a primitive location right on the High Falls State Park lake. Thanks for highlighting HipCamp! My hiking partner and I are trying to finish the New England Trail this year (after Julie Gayheart challenged me to!). The relationships between the NET and private landowners who allow the NET to pass through their property is tenuous, and legal campsites are few and far between. Many landowners don't want overnight campers.
    Did a section a couple weeks ago and used a HipCamp for the first time. With gas prices, we wanted to stay as close to trail as possible. We had a really good experience and only paid $25 for a spot that was right near a place to get coffee, breakfast and resupply. Excited for this solution to other challenges as we camp, travel, and hike!

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  2 роки тому +1

      Hey SueB! I love my girl Julie! She is out there kicking butt on the MST right now! Yes, another great thing about HipCamps for the reasons you mentioned. When there aren't legal places to camp out on trail, oftentimes you will find a HipCamp close by. And many have shower facilities, water, and restrooms. That's why I wanted to share this video about them. There are so many different scenarios that they are just perfect for. You can't beat the prices, it's unbelievable how cheap some of them are for the locations they are in. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Very much appreiciated.~RVA~

    We gotta look at hip camp. We are more on finding dispersed sites. But, this looks like a good alternative to KOA when youre out on the road for 10 days and needs something more "luxurious"

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  2 роки тому +1

      I don't know about more luxurious when most don't have any electricity, or facilities unless you try booking a yurt or treehouse etc. Most of the ones I have stayed at are just open land in various locations. But its definitely is a great website to look for someplace unique and different to camp. Let me know if you ever do book a place and let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching MaxD. ~RVA~

      Yes, I just had to share this great website with everyone. It's so affordable and gives you so many more options to choose from in trip planning for vaca, hikes, or travel. That's how I use it a lot. Places to stay on longer trips or like in this video I stay somewhere overnight that is close to my hike the next day. Thanks, Tonya for checking this one out. ~RVA~

    I am in love with that barrel chair and just beginning my investigation of hip camp. I am a solo female camper so your advice has been terrific. I do need to know where you got that chair from it looks like some thing I really need have a great day

      Core Equipment is where that round chair is from (I also have tent review I did on their 10-person tent on the channel. I have some of their lanterns and string lights as well.) Its big and cozy to curl up in. I did spray it with fabric protector since its light grey and cream to help keep it looking new and not get so dirty. Cheers to us solo girls doing what we love out there! ~RVA~

    All Hipcamp Hosts who offers 2 or less sites (the best are solo sites) -- Rock -- otherwise you may just be staying at a Novice owned campground...it is the other "people" and their kids and pets who create bad memories of hellacious camping experiences. -- Read reviews and pick a location with two or less sites.

      Hi Hawk, I have not done a lot of Hip Camps in MD, only a few. I did love going up to Swallow Falls State Park. It was super quiet, and that park never seems to get busy. I also love camping at Assateague National Park on the beach.

    Another great video RVA Hiker Girl! Hipcamps have taken off Downunder too but I’ve never tried one. Just wondering what you do for a toilet in these camps? Also are you a full time vlogger? Seems like you’re living the dream camping and hiking! 😀

      Aww thank you so much! They all are different. Some have facilities some don't. You go out in nature when they don't. I am a hiker and backpacker so I am used to using the restroom outside. I have a kit I carry with everything I need. Hmmm I haven't really every thought about it in terms of being a full time or part time vlogger. I would say I am part time, since I still work. But I vlog a lot and I am very active over on Instagram as well. It does take up a lot of my time being a creator, on multiple platforms, but I LOVE it!

    The lights that you have on the tent. Are they included with the tent? Did you buy them separate? Are they battery operated?

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  2 роки тому +2

      Ha Ha no they don't come with the tent. I have a ton of different battery powered string lights. These I get every year at Christmas at Dollar General. They come in both with and multi colored. I save bread ties, or the ties on Christmas lights to attach lights to my tents, trees, anywhere I want to put them. ~RVA~

    I'm still wondering how much Hipcamp costs. I suppose they all vary but a general cost idea is likely what everyone is wondering about. Typically, when cost is ignored in an overview video it's crazy expensive or there's a catch of some sort.

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  Рік тому +1

      Every HipCamp has a different price just like Airbnb’s and hotels. No catch or crazy prices with me. At the time of video being made, this HipCamp was only $20 a night. (Generally they are cheaper than State parks for non electric campsites) Most HipCamps I camp at are usually primitive with not a lot of people around no bells and whistles and usually range between $20-$40 a night. Some HipCamps have cabins, yurts, or experiences that you have an option to purchase. Some have options to purchase fresh eggs firewood some have yoga out in nature, some have horseback riding they all are different and unique. I hope that answers your questions. Go google Hipcamp and look at what the prices are in your area to get a better idea.

      Yeah but some land owners don’t have the know how or the time to create a website then market and advertise their campsites. HipCamp does that for them. And honestly they’re probably seen a whole lot more for the most part because they’re on hipcamp then if they weren’t. I don’t know what the fee is that Hipcamp charges but it can’t be very much with some of the prices you see that are so low.
