  • Join me as we revisit the early parts of Fire Emblem Engage on Maddening difficulty, exploring several important questions along the way:
    - How should we assign our Emblem Rings?
    - How can we earn a lot of EXP on these maps? Is that important?
    - Who deserves training?
    - Which mechanics and abilities define tactics and strategy in these early chapters?
    - How should we use the forge, the arena, and the ancient well?

In my initial playthrough (which I’m still on at the time of typing this comment), this was where I felt the difficulty spike, and the slow realisation of “Oh. OH! THIS is just a small sampling of this game’s mechanics”.

Man, I'm contemplating a female only run, but I'm not sure how feasible it is to kill the boss without Clanne and Xander.

You keep talking about getting supports, but does it actually matter?

Supports generally increase hit, among other bonuses, which can let you craft more reliable strategies that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
I don’t think they’ll necessarily make or break a playthrough, but there’s also no reason to NOT try and get support points wherever you can.

having supports makes hits more reliable and it's nice to have. If you don't have anything better to do with a unit might as well build support

I'd say in maddening supports really help in the late game because enemy avoid, especially on thieves and swordmasters can get really high

@@shadic303 I mean a huge chunk of units desperately wanna be reclassed into classes that boost their offensive growths and Alfred wants to be a armor knight and those often have accuracy issues due to low dex so it absolutely helps +20 hit on someone like Louis or jade can make a lot of difference or someone reclassed into armor knight to get workable strength and good defense. Or you can just spam heros since they are consistently good in spite of poor stats as long as you can get dual assist+ on them. Without proper use of supports you’ll be having a lot of coin flips. However adjacency to zelkov and rosado and now you got 90 percent chance to smack them in the face with a big ol great lance. Can make a massive difference
