Hey man, great work! Your doing your thing which is awesome! I was happy to see someone on my opening page playing an old school classic. Couple of suggestions for the playing. Practice your picking. Don't only do down stroke. Practice both up and down strokes. Also, consider strumming up as well so your not muting the strings. Combine that with just basic major cords to get the coordination of transitioning from one to the other while mid stum/stoke. I.E. E major down up, to C Major Down Up, ETC - Then for your power cords, this may sound weird but do a little reading into this, and it will make sense. Part of the issue from what I can see is that your position with holding the guitar is slanted. While you build strength in the fingers on the fret board, do your best to keep your elbow straight with your wrist and then place your thumb directly on the back of the neck center, not hanging over the fret board. This is a classical guitar technique that builds strength and control in the fretboard hand. This will be very uncomfortable at first, but as time passes you will find the ease of it will allow you to move around the fret board a lot easier. Again, your doing great work, and you got a new subscriber!
Thank you for the tips. I’ve always struggled with up strokes though I’m trying to incorporate them into my playing more often. @HarvesterOfPizza your so welcome. Watching your video again, are you holding the puck sideways between your thumb and index? Like, try at a 90 degree turn, this may make your hand more ergonomic for palm mutes and up strokes:)
