About this video: In today's video we will be looking at a couple of VEVOR products including a New release of their observation beehive. It looks like VEVOR listened to the critics of last years release and implemented fixes to make this one of their best hives ever.
    This Channel:
Although this beekeeping channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi pepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. With that in mind, I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, replaced the hedges in front of my house with blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. In short, I will share a lot more than beekeeping on this channel.
    A little about me:
I am a person who believes you are never to old to learn something. Be it beekeeping, farming, raising chickens, painting, filming and editing video, making wine, beer, bread, cheese, and other fermentation consumables, play guitar etc... If I see something I want to try I start it immediately. If there is one thing I could choose to pass along to my children this would be it. Never be afraid to try. My wife famously told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. I am bad at quite a few things.
I hope you find my beekeeping videos fun and entertaining as well as get something out of them. I hope I inspire someone to get out and try something new. If you do enjoy my videos, please take a moment to spread the word about this channel and help it, and myself, grow. Have a great day and BEE Happy!

Ordered using your links. The 30 frame hives (2 deeps and a medium) are marked down to $155!!!!
Killer deal! Same setup at my local bee supply is over $300! I like supporting my local supply but that is a REALLY high mark up.

There is a lot of value in these hives. For the money it cannot be beat.

I just got in 5 old Vevor honey supers from Amazon and on the panel with the window 3 out of the 5 split in two when i tapped the short sides onto them.

Yikes! I would return immediately for a replacement. I have banged together a bunch of hives and have never had that happen.

Great video. You looked so blue today, haha
When you mentioned losing Philip screwdrivers, both hubby and I said you should live in Canada, we lose our Robinsons.
I'm glad Vevor listened to its customers

Robertsons????? Is that a screwdriver? I will be right back, I have to look up robertson screwdrives..... Ahhhhh, robertson screwdrivers are square bits.... I need a set now.

great video, lights looked good. I am sure you will tweak them to see how different they can bee. Your screw driver conundrum is a world wide epidemic. there is a sports recruiting specialist in the area who just built a new studio for his crew and he was having the same issue with phillips heads, and of course I had to troll him by sending him a couple of packages of flat heads LOL. keep up the great videos.

Everything requires tweaking. A little less blue here and little more green there.... We'll get it dialed in.

When the bees propolize the vent holes the access door will stick shut. It is an improvement on the original design but the holes in the plastic are a mistake in my opinion. I didn't see that mentioned in any reviews so I am really curious why they choose to add those holes. The RGB lights I am unsure about may be useful as a background light but you did look like a blueberry for a a bit! Thanks for sharing.

I am so hyper focused on keeping beetles out of my hive that is the first thing I thought of when I saw them. Someone suggested closing them with hot glue.

    FYI
You forgot to mention and fit the bee reducer in your summation of the hive.
The dovetails are fantastic as they are better looking than either butt or box joints that I have seen on other hives.
I would not want holes in the plexi-glass as venting.
Personally, I have yet to start beekeeping.
However, I would not buy that type of hive as at my age, I do not want to do heavy lifting.
If I decide to do beekeeping, then I would look more towards a layers style
    Horizontal hive.

I showed it earlier but yes you are correct. I did forget to show it again at the end. It is a little loose.

Perhaps use a little hot glue to put some fiberglass window screeening over those holes? Something to keep little buggies out of them would be good. Ants might use it as an entrance too.
With headphones in, I am hearing a bit of wind or something in the background. Getting some crackles in audio too quality was changing a bit as you moved around too. Not sure if you were mic’d or using a room mic.
And, you did look like violet at one point)t. :) I think those lights are good for party type stuff, but not so good for filming. For white light, best to use some umbrella lights that throw a soft light and is dispersed so it is even. I can share the setup I bought for green screen work for meetings for my job. They sell the lights separate.

I am pretty confident the bees will propolise the holes but hot glue is a great idea. I think I'll do that. Thank you.

My guess is the same manufacturer in China makes all of these bee hives , I have seen so many that are similar,

    • @BugFarmerBees
      @BugFarmerBees  4 місяці тому

They are similar but I know of several different manufactures.

Just curious as to why you didn't glue the boxes before stapling them.
Update: Nevermind... I saw they were waxed. But the blade sharpener is no longer available.

    • @BugFarmerBees
      @BugFarmerBees  4 місяці тому

Yes, waxed. It would have been nice to see those dovetails drilled and counter-sunk for screws.

Bees will probably propolize those vent holes anyways
