Winter Storms In Wales - Living By The Sea

  • What’s it like on the Welsh coast during winter. With Storm Dennis approaching we take a walk along the Porthcawl seafront on the South Wales Coast.
You may recognise the breakwater and pier as it is often used as the stock image for storms by national newspapers and TV channels.
When we are not travelling we live by the sea and during the winter we get some very dramatic waves and strong wind. 2020 has been particularly bad with a series of powerful Atlantic storms bringing rain and 70mph plus winds. The biggest being Storm Ciara and seven days later Storm Dennis.
Despite these winter storms winter is a great time to explore Wales if you don’t mind getting a bit wet. There is something good about sitting in a nice warm pub while watching the rain and waves rage outside. #StormDennis #Porthcawl

Thank you for this. It's refreshing to watch. Been living in Virginia - weeks upon weeks of a real-feel of 40C and awful humidity - dew point up to 24C. So I don't think I'll ever complain about Welsh weather again!

I don't think there's ever a bad day for fish and chips, maybe give the beach a miss and eat them in the car.

Great vid, I was in Porthcawl to take a few shots of storm ciara and Dennis, but mainly just got soaked, both me and camera, great fun though. Great channel I enjoy your videos particularly when you film around Wales 👍

The weather in the lucky case is beautiful. Nevertheless, Storm Dennis has its own magic. I enjoyed watching these clips, safe on my couch. :)

It is great watching a storm from inside, overall we'd had a lot of storms this year and a lot of rain which caused quite a bit damage elsewhere in the country but we were lucky.

Wow, those waves were awesome! See it flying through the sky! Pretty courageous to get out there during Dennis, it was a really big storm, wasn't it?

We were lucky as we missed the worst of it, the rain caused a lot of flooding further inland.

We always wanted to visit Wales, and I honestly not sure why, because it always looks so dreary 😂
But that's crazy how the hurricane wind brings up the seafoams. It is funny how photographers were on the look out for picture opportunities.
    Thanks for sharing!

Wales is far from dreary but agree it's not the place to come for a suntan. The beaches and coastline, especially down West are some of the best we've seen in the world.

If you do visit (I suggest you do) anywhere on the coast is beautiful but the Gower peninsula is gorgeous, Newquay west Wales is a pretty little place and you can go out on a boat trip see the dolphins and seals, I love the countryside around Snowdonia but my personal favourite is Porthcawl, think I'm biased because I grew up around there. If you do come I hope you enjoy

Nature is just wonderful. To be fair in this way, storm Dennis doesn't look that bad. Was storm Chiara worse than storm Dennis?

We were lucky, we didn't get the heavy rain which caused the real damage. The towns and villages just inland were badly affected.

Porthcawl tends to get hit quite bad doesn't it?

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  4 роки тому

Yes, the pier really gets hit, Surprsied it's been standing for so long.
