Keep this in mind that no matter where you are and how kind people are, when strangers come up to you and offer you anything, always ask the prices and costs first. And if they try to take you anywhere, ask 'em how far it is from where you're at. Avoid wandering around places that are far away from the crowded spots.
They are all learning experiencing and we have had so many amazing ones here! We just won’t follow random men down alleys anymore 😂 Thanks for watching ♥️
@@ChaseandShelbs I'm Indonesian and Indonesia is not paradise. In paradise corrupters cannot live freely and are punished as severely as possible. In Indonesia, the punishment for corruption has been commuted. Corrupters can be sentenced to only 2 years and a fine of only 10 million (667 USD), and even then, if a case is filed. In paradise people are free to have opinions, here "being too honest" can be jailed. in paradise people live in prosperity, get a decent severance when they are laid off. in paradise people are entitled to good health and education. in paradise, news is not heavily censored. in Indonesia what happened was the opposite. education here is bad. and you know what it's like to live in an environment with bad education. Although most Indonesians think they are smart, when in fact it's the opposite. I feel trapped born here and can't get out of this country because I don't have much money. if people knew what was going on with this country, people would want to leave. Indonesia is good for occasional tourists, but not for the people themselves. I beg tourists like you to pass this on to people out there, so they can help us who are stuck in this country. Even Yogya was my father's home town but for coffee I recommended you to visit Sumatra, especially on the north side. Anyway, thank you for your lovely visit.
I'll give you a hint: When you meet Indonesian people who are very talkative, very communicative, very persuasive, YOU NEED TO BE SUSPICIOUS. Because: most average Indonesian people use broken English, and tend to be passive when talking to foreigners, and THEY AVOID EYE CONTACT. Avoid these people: pedicab drivers, tour guides, taxi drivers (unless you order from the online app) If you need to ask someone in Indonesia: ask Indomaret or Alfamart employees, security, or police, or students (they wear uniform) or just ask any 'well dressed people' --if you find one (mostly the wear proper attire like from office, and most likely they're well educated, and will not scam you). For sure.
Orang lokal pun hati hati apalagi dibawa ketempat yg jauh dari keramaian. Menjajal makanan/minuman yg enak. Dipastikan kalian aman.

So I hope you guys are more careful and I hope this incident doesn't diminish your feelings for the friendliness of the Indonesian people. Enjoy your trip in Indonesia and always be safe.
This scam is common in Yogyakarta. So yall tourist should be aware before heading to Yogyakarta. Never ever trust someone who offered something like art, exhibition, tour, guide if you dont really want. It’s scam in a polite way.
We haven’t dealt with that so many times before haha but we were fully willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Next time we won’t entertain the idea so much. We still had a good time though. 💛☺️
Wow, @ChaseandShelbs! This video was an incredible journey from start to finish! I was hooked right from the beginning as you took us along on your adventure to find the best coffee in the world. The way you interacted with the locals, shared your candid thoughts, and even included those little playful moments brought so much authenticity to the content. But what really blew my mind was your attention to detail and the way you seamlessly integrated the cultural aspects into your storytelling. From the mention of the Sultan's family tree to the intricate discussions about the coffee and its benefits, it felt like I was right there with you, sipping that strong, bold cup of coffee. I was genuinely surprised when you pointed out the unexpected connection to Canada, and your humor throughout had me smiling from ear to ear. And the way you observed the artwork and brought up that intriguing note of caution about possible sneaky business - that's something not everyone would think of, and it shows how thorough and savvy you are as travelers. The ending was the cherry on top - with those delicious cookies and your banter about drawing the Canadian maple leaf, I couldn't help but laugh along. Your chemistry as hosts is absolutely amazing, and it's clear you're enjoying each other's company and the experience. Thank you for creating such engaging and well-crafted content! This video was an adventure that transported me to Indonesia, and I can't wait to see where your journey takes us next. So sorry for that guys, you gotta be careful..🙏🙏 We really hope u guys enjoy the other postive n fun things there..and i wish you are still in Jakarta, i will buy you bunch of Roma Coconut Cookie..😉♥️
Luwak coffee is expensive. that’s why he said it’s the best coffee in the world. But to bring you guys to some dark and mysterious corner I would be worried. 😮
if a person that guide you and willing to deliver to you to unknown place(where usually local people don't get to the place), you must be careful. it happen in a lot of country...
Awesome, how you take those bad experience in to a positive perspective.. so sorry for the inconvinience guys.. waiting for your 'good n hearty work' on the next cities guys... ❤
Hay.. Chase and Shelbs, i hope you sooner to visit my city.. yepp, it is Semarang city. Not too far from Jogja you know, it is about 4-5 hours by car/bus. 🙂 In Semarang, you could get many experience and so many place you can go, oh ya we have so many culinary too (Lumpia, Bandeng Presto, and soon). Can't wait you two think about Semarang. Hope you enjoy to spend more time in Indonesia ❤😊
I thought they change but not. Was once in the same situation as yours. the so-called local guide took us around and lured us to go to some shops selling highly-overpriced cheap arts. Bad for local tourism
Yeah it’s not fun especially when we are filming and showing the local areas of certain places, it can end up wasting a lot of time sometimes 🤪 but that’s part of the journey I suppose!
Gays" jika kalian pecinta kopi" kalian harus lansung pergi ke kebun nya,, di indonesia begitu banyak jenis kopi,, dan apabila kalian ingin tour keliling indonesia,, sebaik nya kalian mencari tour guide ❤❤❤❤
Honestly, I would consider this more of a hustle than a scam. Seems like these Coffee shops hire people to stand on the main roads to lead tourists to try their shops, usually overpriced like most tourist shops, but you got some free cookies and a cool off the beaten path experience in a local neighborhood, so I would say it's worth it for tourists. Continue enjoying, and do be safe. 😁💖❤️🙏🏾
the bad things of those some local tour guide is, he/they always offering something n bring u to the destination but after they just gone like wtf.. i mean at least they say Goodbye, enjoy!! thank you or anything that he is done for guiding u 😢 they can speak english well but attitude kinda zero.. and this happen many times in Yogyakarta, i am feeling sorry for them.. and the dude in this video, he actually comeback.. but still in other place they gone like a ghost
I met him when I visited jogja. He just gave you directions like to local artists, store, etc. But he didn’t ask for money though. Personally I bought batik shirt from the store he showed me. I am not sure if it’s a real scam or not
I'm from Indonesia, but a different area (South Tangerang) West Java. I apologize if there are some people who try to take advantage of the situation, especially foreigners visiting Indonesia. be careful and always healthy, god bless you.
Don't trust someone who stand to wait to get tourist..and need to ask officers in official uniforms at places such as cashiers / counters. don't ask for help/ask outside the counter location... because there are brokers or fraud modes that the government doesn't record
Don't engaged a lot with strangers or scam. Yes, the polite way just say, Terima kasih, No Thank You. Well, anywhere we go, we need to be aware our surroundings, right? The important thing is You enjoy the trip in Indonesia. Have fun and enjoy your trip in Indonesia.
I love your perspectives, looking for the good! 💜 Not a scam for everyone…only the ppl who see everything wrong, but if have time to stroll + you enjoy some of the experience then it’s not terrible 😅 lol. Also not worth letting it affect your mood + day over expensive things when it’s a few dollars. I love the excitement over the cookies 😎
So many people got trick like that even to local tourist also, they want we're following them and then you got scam, he just give u the tester and then u got the the payment bill after that
@ChaseandShelbs I agree that was a sneaky business. But as far as I know, for a LEGIT Kopi Luwak, IDR 75k a cup is a normal price. The real question though, is if that is a legitimate Kopi Luwak the man offered you. By the way, Kopi Luwak originates from Indonesia during Dutch Colonization in the 1800s.
If this were Morocco, your guide would have demanded an exorbitant amount of money for showing you this place. Now THAT is a scam..😂 It's good content being able to show things like this, but at least it's pretty easy to avoid. Of course there are lots of good people around the world- but in our experience, 9 times out of 10, if someone wants you to follow them/ bring you somewhere- it's a scam. In the end, at least it was just a coffee for a very touristy price. At least they weren't super rude and pushy when you didn't want anything. I think it's a pretty good rule of thumb- to not follow random strangers. Unless it's for content, of course...🤣🤫
Be careful especially if you are traveling. Especially in Bali, there are a lot of scammers. I know your currency country is big so people take advantage of you. 🙏🙏🙏
I live in Jakarta, almost every year I go on vacation to Jogja because I like this city. When I walk in Malioboro, I often see people like this who intend to scam foreign tourists. They offer services as a tour guide but then they charge a very high fee. I hope this will come to the attention of the Jogja tourism agency to discipline them because it has the potential to tarnish Jogja's good name as a friendly city
Anyway some Indonesians have mentioned not to drink charcoal coffee. Firstly as it is too hot, not good for the body. For me personally charcoal is not healthy too. Other types of coffee is fine
lessen learnt guys "don't just accept following random guys for any promise they said" lot of foreigners coming to jogja always fell to this trap. they'll said just follow me, i'll show you (what you looking) then guide you to unknown overprice place
don't be reluctant to say "no thank you" next time everyone of them already cooperate with the place they show, cos the owner of the place will give them tip to bring people to their place i learn that cos i stay in jogja from 2021 to 2022, so i kinda know how they work
So hilarious every part of any country has the best of something and only 1 particular random person knows about it 😂. Vacationing abroad scams is part of the experience I suppose.
I really like you two, I think you are tourists who really respect a culture and characteristics wherever you stand. And I, as an Indonesian, apologize for the scam behavior that happened to you. So true!! We are always in guard in these situations 🙏🏼
Borobudur is not Yogyakarta. So close of my village in Magelang. Magelang is Central Java.
So sorry for that guys, you gotta be careful..🙏🙏
We really hope u guys enjoy the other postive n fun things there..and i wish you are still in Jakarta, i will buy you bunch of Roma Coconut Cookie..😉♥️
Yes we a totally will! It’s been so amazing and we’ve really enjoyed Indonesia. Haha Roma cookies are the best!! 😍
@@ChaseandShelbs Wow thank you so much for always replying my comments.. Really appreciate that.. you are the kindest! ♥️🙏
Luwak coffee is expensive. that’s why he said it’s the best coffee in the world. But to bring you guys to some dark and mysterious corner I would be worried. 😮
Yes it is! We were surprised at the price but are glad we got to try it 🤭
I was really surprised that there was a notification. usually on Saturday morning you upload a new video. yeay
We uploaded an extra one as a bonus video this week 🥰
if a person that guide you and willing to deliver to you to unknown place(where usually local people don't get to the place), you must be careful. it happen in a lot of country...
Good to know thank you!! 🙏🏼
Awesome, how you take those bad experience in to a positive perspective.. so sorry for the inconvinience guys.. waiting for your 'good n hearty work' on the next cities guys... ❤
Yes it still was fun! We enjoyed coffee and cookies. No complains 🤩
Percayalah kopi yang enak selalu dikunjungi banyak orang, walau mahal.
Hay.. Chase and Shelbs, i hope you sooner to visit my city.. yepp, it is Semarang city. Not too far from Jogja you know, it is about 4-5 hours by car/bus. 🙂
In Semarang, you could get many experience and so many place you can go, oh ya we have so many culinary too (Lumpia, Bandeng Presto, and soon). Can't wait you two think about Semarang. Hope you enjoy to spend more time in Indonesia ❤😊
That would be so cool! We would love to some day. Indonesia has many beautiful places we would like to go! 😍 cheers 💛
15:39 Biskuit Roma kelapa memang seenak itu, apalagi dicelup ke kopi panas ❤ sarapan favorit Almarhum ayah saya 😊
That’s wonderful! We enjoy them so much 👏🏼
I thought they change but not.
Oh that sounds amazing!! We do love our coffee 😍🙏🏼
the bad things of those some local tour guide is, he/they always offering something n bring u to the destination but after they just gone like wtf..
i mean at least they say Goodbye, enjoy!! thank you or anything that he is done for guiding u 😢
they can speak english well but attitude kinda zero.. and this happen many times in Yogyakarta, i am feeling sorry for them..
and the dude in this video, he actually comeback..
but still in other place they gone like a ghost
this is classic....people cannot claim anything the best in the world before going around the world and compare them.
So true! The best coffee is different depending on what people like 🙏🏼
It sure was! Thanks for watching ♥️♥️
I met him when I visited jogja. He just gave you directions like to local artists, store, etc. But he didn’t ask for money though. Personally I bought batik shirt from the store he showed me. I am not sure if it’s a real scam or not
Aku harap kamu bisa eksplore indonesia dengan luas seperti channel the lost boys and channel kristian hansen...
TerimKasih Sudah berkunjung ke pulau jawa
Be very careful.... I'm very sorry and ashamed that you experienced that
Hati Hati/ Be carerful...!!!
I ve waiting for hiking montain in east java...mt bromo 😄😄keep it up my friends whatever happens

@@ChaseandShelbs cheerss keep going👫💪
I'm from Indonesia, but a different area (South Tangerang) West Java. I apologize if there are some people who try to take advantage of the situation, especially foreigners visiting Indonesia. be careful and always healthy, god bless you.
No need to apologize. Thanks for watching and stay safe and healthy ♥️
That biscuit is "Roma kelapa" you can buy in mini market or Indomaret/alfa mart😁
We bought some. They are SO GOOD 🤭
@@ChaseandShelbsyou must try eat nasi gudeg, sate klatak an drink wedang ronde in jogjakarta
A little advice bro, wherever we are, don't trust strangers too much, to minimize unwanted things.
Thanks for the advice! ☺️
Still be safe always
Remember your parent's advice : do not follow the stranger 😂
So true 😂
Lets go to batik art…….we’ve seen a lot of arts todayyyy😂😂😢
lam hanan from saudi Arabia nice to meet you you are great😊👍🌹🌹
Nice to meet you too! Have a great day also and thanks for watching ♥️
Don't trust someone who stand to wait to get tourist..and need to ask officers in official uniforms at places such as cashiers / counters. don't ask for help/ask outside the counter location... because there are brokers or fraud modes that the government doesn't record
The cookie you ate is roma coconut cookie and definitely a fav one❤
We love them!! So good 😍
The Cookie name is "Regal Biskuit Marie" you can ask alfamart or indomaret employe.
Yesss! So yummy, we bought some right away 🤤
There is also in bali as well but i m curious, how much in bali
We aren’t sure!
You should know where you have to go guys. Dont let anyone bring you to the place that you dont wanna go
Thanks! We won’t ☺️
I have warned you much earlier before besides of beware of the pickpockets.
Please always be caution and stay safe in the country.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
@@ChaseandShelbs You bet. 👍🙏
They guided you to the shop, cafe to get some "ombak ombak". ..even for local sometimes they do the same,,just be aware and carefull..
Come to alkid guys
Don't engaged a lot with strangers or scam. Yes, the polite way just say, Terima kasih, No Thank You. Well, anywhere we go, we need to be aware our surroundings, right? The important thing is You enjoy the trip in Indonesia. Have fun and enjoy your trip in Indonesia.
Much appreciated! Thanks for the tips we will keep aware 🥰
Cheers friend and have a great week ahead xx
I hope you are always healthy, enjoy watching your videos, 👍👍👍👍
Thanks friend, we are so happy you are following along. Cheers!
you found the scammers in my country hahaha, hope it wont stopping you coming back
Not at all! We love Indonesia ♥️
stay careful and always be vigilant, and we apologize for the behavior of this person. Hopefully the next trip won't be like this again
come to Kalimantan/Borneo island
So sorry you both almost got scam by the old guy, so shame of him
That’s okay! We found out new found love of Roma biscuits! Worth it 😍😂🙏🏼
I love your perspectives, looking for the good! 💜
Not a scam for everyone…only the ppl who see everything wrong, but if have time to stroll + you enjoy some of the experience then it’s not terrible 😅 lol. Also not worth letting it affect your mood + day over expensive things when it’s a few dollars. I love the excitement over the cookies 😎
Tandain itu bapaknya
So many people got trick like that even to local tourist also, they want we're following them and then you got scam, he just give u the tester and then u got the the payment bill after that
Yes its. This couple are perfect.
Aw thank you 💛💛
@ChaseandShelbs
I agree that was a sneaky business.
Sngt suka mndengar suara trtawanya chase
It’s great hey! ☺️
That all sounds wonderful! there’s so many great things we have yet to try 😍
If this were Morocco, your guide would have demanded an exorbitant amount of money for showing you this place. Now THAT is a scam..😂
It's good content being able to show things like this, but at least it's pretty easy to avoid.
It looks watercastle area that you visit in Yogya.many guide will assist you to explore yogya ,but you need to becarefull .
Nice! We really enjoyed Jakarta & yeah Malioboro street was particularly bad for scammers. Hopefully some day that lessens! ♥️
Totally agree
I'm sorry for what you've got.. stay alert and don't always follow because wherever you are, the possibility will always happen.
That’s okay, thank you so much we will be careful!
You guys should visit Bali
if you guys still in Jogja, take a look a silver jewelry from there, it's famous
Thanks for the suggestion ☺️🙏🏼
outstanding travelvlog,farewell- Chase~:)
Glad you enjoyed it! 💛
Luwak coffe original authentic berasal dari indonesia the best coffee
It’s pretty good🔥
Anyway some Indonesians have mentioned not to drink charcoal coffee. Firstly as it is too hot, not good for the body. For me personally charcoal is not healthy too. Other types of coffee is fine
Great to know! We will avoid that one ☺️
Kalian kok mirip di" film Chasing liberty" yaa
Matur suwun ...
you should try the avocado juice. very2 yummy and healthy.
That sounds amazing!
@@ChaseandShelbs yeaaa...Because it is very refreshing and makes a little full stomach.
lessen learnt guys "don't just accept following random guys for any promise they said"
lot of foreigners coming to jogja always fell to this trap. they'll said just follow me, i'll show you (what you looking) then guide you to unknown overprice place
Yeah I think we will be a little more careful next time. Though it was still fun and we found our favourite biscuits! The Roma cookies 😍
don't be reluctant to say "no thank you" next time
everyone of them already cooperate with the place they show, cos the owner of the place will give them tip to bring people to their place
i learn that cos i stay in jogja from 2021 to 2022, so i kinda know how they work
Wow mantap bos 💯💞🇮🇩🇮🇩💞💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😁
♥️💛💛
MR SUPRI YONO is Nice person, Indonesian people is freindly
He was very nice indeed!
So hilarious every part of any country has the best of something and only 1 particular random person knows about it 😂. Vacationing abroad scams is part of the experience I suppose.
Yes so true haha! It’s all apart of the experience. There’s good and bad in every country. Even ours! That’s life ☺️🙏🏼
Amazing
Woww subtitel indo.
Good job
I really like you two, I think you are tourists who really respect a culture and characteristics wherever you stand. And I, as an Indonesian, apologize for the scam behavior that happened to you. I hope you can go to Banten and Sumatra, there are still many parts of Indonesia that you have to explore
Aww that is so sweet of you to say. We love to explore and keep it real while having a great time. There are so many places we would like to explore! Thanks for recommending that 😍 cheers!
