Family heirlooms tend to come in many different shapes and sizes. Sometimes they come in the form of a piece of jewelry, other times a piece of furniture. Rarely though do they come equipped with a 255 cubic inch Ford flathead, side pipes and a sound that rivals most orchestras. This is Anji Ramsey's 1922 Ford Roadster and it's a car that's been in her family (in one way or another) for the better part of 65 years.
As a 6'6", about 250lb monster, *I feel your pain Mike Musto :/.*
I had the opportunity to drive a glorious GT40 (favorite supercar btw) *WITH THE **_GERNEY BUBBLE_**, and my head was STILL smushed against the top, and my knee's at my ears!* By golly it was still worth every yoga-inducing second though :).
You all should be glad that your "pretty tall", instead of "stop-eating to stare at me in the airport tall" ROFLMAO.
Well said Sir/Madame! These episodes are not only informative but inspiring. The quality in which we the viewers receive from /Drive for practically free is truly amazing.
never get tired of looking straight into the history of car, and recognizing how far they have come from then to now. Every time I watch these videos I grow a greater respect for old cars. Its safe to say Drive is my favorite channels on youtube, maybe tied with Petrolicious. I love the story behind them all.
This was one of my favorite cars thus far. Finding a car with a documented history like this '22 was a pure joy. Anji couldn't have been more gracious and the stories she told us about her Grandfather would make any automotive enthusiast jealous.
This is one priceless video-beginning and end. Thanks Anji, thanks Mike, and someone is still driving a Caprice wagon. Cool.
LOL! The end was gold!!!!!
Great episode! The ending was priceless but I love the story behind that Hot Rod. I truly believe cars can become members of the family.
Beautiful car and piece of history glad its still on the road for many to admire.
The train segment was fantastic. Thank you SO much for putting that in.
22 firewall with a narrowed 26/27 cowl. windshield and dash are narrower than on my 26. Nice modified, great history.
That roadster looks SO good. Just perfect.
what a beautiful car and back story. That ending was brilliant!!
Love the roads you are driving on in this!
yet another amazing video and such a beautiful little ford. thanks for another week of good stuff big muscle
People have no idea and that's okay. We all wish it was only a 10 hr day. One of the coolest parts for us is to see the reactions of the owners. They REALLY have no idea what's involved in producing a show like this, or any other of our /DRIVE shows. Between the traveling, equipment hauling, pre-production time, writing the episode, downloading footage, editing, revisions, etc... people are amazed. Our only job is to try and bring you guys the best cars/people we can. Hopefully we're doing that.
Flathead have a sound all their own!
I love this car. I'm 5'7" and this thing would fit like a custom made glove for me. The car from the outside looks proportional in every aspect. Myself-I'd put a little wider and taller tires on. The car sounds awesome. What a great weekend cruising machine.
It's pretty insane, in 6 years that car will be a 100 years old
only 2 more years now
Beautiful! And what a story! This is Big Muscle at its best. Thanks :)
The last part had me in laughing. That discussion is exactly how most accidents happen. We all know if the battle wagon was crushed from being stuck on the tracks after the failed attempt to jump them, they would have blamed you Mike! Haha
I liked the video and the car, but the " train " part was BRILLIANT .
Ten hours! Oh my! I doubt that most viewers have any idea how hard and long you guys work on not only these episodes, but also defusing all of Thadd's crazy suggestions like jumping the Battle Wagon.
Thank you Anji for sharing your great story. Thank you Zack for torturing Mr Angry in what turned into a hilarious ending for this episode. Hope you feel better soon Mr Musto.
i wish we could see more behind the scenes of big muscle and other drive shows, that would be awesome
Very entertaining . Thank you guys.
Mike seems like a great interviewer, really easy to talk to.
Awesome chapter, guys. I laughted so much and the car is beautiful.
Fantastic video. the ending bit was hilarious!!
I thank you for a job well done, you have helped me decide to sell my current car to find a muscle car!
As a taxi driver, once had a train derail in front of me. It didn't fall over but stopped blocking the road. My stop was just on the other side of the tracks. I made a quick you turn and had to drive three miles to find a way around the long stopped train. Took a crane to clear the jam.
Thanks Mike, I absolutely love this car :)
The end had me rolling.
That's the real show, Mike getting pissed off at the humorous psychic cameraman.
Where's episode 2?
I have since lost 2" of height because of my vertebra are further deteriorating. I'm no 5'5" tall. This car would be ideal for me. This car would really stand out if it had a Carson top to go on. Love these cars and there's not many videos about them. Wish there were more. The flat head engine _ WOW!
Your right about the term rat rod. I used it to classify a rusted out hot rod or t buckett and usualy they have small block 350s
Mike's chargers are so awesome.
What an epic car! That sound!
That thing looks and sounds amazing!
OMG at the beginning he's in Benicia, i live there.
A pice of history driving down the road beautiful
Funniest one so far, great car too.
Thumbs up !!
A rat-rod is generally made up parts from derelict vehicles and is done on the cheap. Hot rods are generally crafted with much more finesse, nicer components, high quality paint.
The crew that shoots Tuned also shoots Big Muscle. So they alternate the time when episodes air.
Haha, one I the best out takes yet. Thanks for leaving that in
Very cool episode!
I would say that all of you are succeeding in your goals ten-fold Sir.
That hot rod is beautiful. Anyone who would call it a rat is an idiot, and doesn't understand the term Ratrod. That ford is breathtakingly timeless.
That ending
Sweet Caprice Mike! You should do a little feature on just that for April Fools or something... or maybe you guys can do a series on what the hosts of /DRIVE drive every day!
i love the battle wagon !! more behind the scenes !
Loved the bid guys
How the hell could anyone call that thing a rat rod? It's immaculate!
Best part is when the guy asks "Do I hear a diesel?" and then you start staring intently.
Never let Big Muscle Die !!!!
nice episode as always, lol at the end
That bit at the end was so funny
is it just me or does mike riding in the passenger side of the car look really fun
"I hate you, Zack" jajajajaja that train has kidnapped them
The car gets a "meh..." the vid really starts at 12:30. After that point...gold.
love this show
Love this episode
Grandpa sounds like possibly the best Bond villain ever :P
My friend has that same wagon. A 96' it has been in some battles.
I Love the show!
Very nice,roll on man!!!
Best ending ever.
awesome ending! hilarious!!
Nice sounding motor.
Best outro.
Oh look it is our good friend Mr.Dan Frederiksen.
cramped from driving a midgetmobile....
welome to old age michael. ;-) great review!
loved the end
i like all the classic cars on this show lately, but it would be nice to see a stupid fast slightly newer car sometime soon
That ending was epic lmao.
i'm 23 years old and i'm 5 ft 6 ! gimme that car !
is there any other shows like this?
Hi Mike, on with side does the previous owner drive her on car? Normal or at the passenger seat?
Every Ford hotrod deserves a Flathead.
You guys need to do a special on Ed Big Daddy Roth- The father of all Rat Rods
That is a very good point!
Oh didn't they talk about the train segment on the TST Podcast a while ago? What episode was that again
Loved the episode. But when well we see some BIGhorespower auto`s?????
does drive have a website? i keep on getting some funky results when i search
Love the show, even im not so much into hot rod/muscle cars
I liked the car, but I loved the train! :D
I like ur shows they are awesome. But subtitles are not available as soon as the video is uploaded. Im hard of hearing.
Love this show but just wondering if Big Muscle will ever leave america? keep up the good work
It's my daily driver / film vehicle / hauler of auto & home depot parts...
Cool ride
1926 body and a serious play padded interior will
AWESOME!
My dad drives a 1,400 HP Automatic Trans-Am. Featured him, lol.
How many of you guys does it take to work on an episode? Also, why the second user account here on UA-cam?
very cool car, which part is from a '22? ;)
the end was hilarious
Mike, how do you even attempt to shift gears in that car? You're amazing!
how do you get in this car with those pipes down both sides?
What kind of knucklehead would think this was a rat rod? Way too finished, polished, classy, and tidy to be a rat rod!
nice car, i hope someday i can make one Here in philipines
The carbs are NOT "single barrels" like you said !!! You have a lot to learn.
I knew you we're driving in the bay area . Born and raised .
