@@CanineDefenseTechnologies Yes, Imagine what NASA could do if they gave them as much budget as in the old days, we would’ve already been on Alpha Centauri. It’s sad to see how little people care about space exploration these days.
@@kolt5511
The large thing to blame for that was the idea of the Space Shuttle. Us Americans were so attracted to reusability that we very quickly cut the budget for any more Saturns (ironically they actually were developing a reusable stage and a half version of the stage IC as economical as the Space Shuttle). And when Nixon did that shortly before the Watergate Scandal, that in itself sealed the fate of our space program until budgets could be reallocated towards upgrading other smaller rockets at first, and eventually towards commercial programs like this company.
I suggest you hear the story of the HMS captain; a Royal Navy vessel petitioned by a disgruntled captain and the public majority which sunk within a year of its commissioning, and dragged down the captain and a few hundred men in the process to Davy Jones’s Locker.
Yet another story of the uninformed public becoming full of folly for things the government wouldn’t want to reveal to them because it was an Arms Race, not science.

55 million $ a launch
@@yeetyeet728 shit, worth more than my entire soul
@@askfadzean Actually yes, I can answer your question. SpaceX charges $60mil a launch for a new booster and around $50 thousand for a reused booster. As far as space debris and pollution goes, those effects (while important) are minuscule. SpaceX has only now reached 100 successful launches since its founding in 2002, with only the second stages posing staying in space and limited by the amount of rockets launched per year (worldwide only being 114), meaning compared to the size of Earth orbit, they are not a concern. Also these stages have the capability to lower themselves and burn up in the atmosphere, further reducing the amount of junk. As for pollution, even if hundreds of launches occurred every day, they would barely register next to the airline industry. And unlike most sources of pollution, there is no realistic way to get into space without fossil fuels. And SpaceX actually is working to address some of these problems. Their new rocket will leave NO DEBRIS AT ALL IN SPACE and cost only 2-10 million PER LAUNCH for five times the capability of their current rocket at LESSER COSTS. So in fact why don’t you thank them for making everything less expensive so you can enjoy a bright future?
