I remember this song 40 years later. I was actually singing this in the car this morning when I saw a fire truck. My 21 year old daughter stared at me..........
It's looks New sesame street season start show hollywood story life look back at movie made into store and get TV show 50th anniversary celebration party years happy birthday contact info for years
LOL, that's great!
DISOWN HER IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This was shot with the Trenton Fire Department many years ago. I currently work with the TFD and work in that station!
Small world
Does it still look the same?
THAT is fantastic! Thanks brother!
Nice... I was wondering what department TFD was.
Cool! Thanks for your service, even if I have never been to Trenton. I had to stop the frame to see what city this was, and indeed, Trenton! This is an iconic video from Sesame Street that was very familiar in the day, and certainly great to have it a part of YOUR history!
I haven't seen this thing in 40 years. The song has been ringing in my head for a long time, so thought I'd see if it was on here. WOW!
watching this clip as a 3 year old in the early 70's, particularly the scene with the fire chief's Pontiac lead me into a love of 60 -70's American vehicles and I ultimately ended up driving a fire engine red 68 4 door hardtop Chevrolet Impala for 18 + years ...I still yearn for that moel Pontiac
Was the fire chief's car a Pontiac LeMans? My grandparents had a white '65 LeMans, I remember it very well.
HAHA!! Yeah, I loved this only for that '1967 Catalina sedan, which I too wanted, even in small scale, which hasn't happened yet. The theme always made me think of that car, and its funny how it barely is seen, although specifically referenced. Loved the "angry bird" look to the front, and this was probably near 10 years after it was new. The look is timeless. My parents friends had one, and I felt jealous, even if we had a newer Oldsmobile wagon and a Buick. Funny thing I once heard the husband say is advice I may have laughed at then, but with age comes wisdom: "Other people buy new cars." Hah, brilliant! Today, I think of how he had that great looking car, and wasn't pouring money down the toilet on car payments.
FTW, this was shot in the New Jersey state capitol, Trenton, N.J. (close to the state line along the Delaware River) and at the Trenton Fire Dept. Headquarters at 244 Perry Street in the Battle Monument (Five Points) section. It's still there as of today.
I bet you're fun at parties.

Yep I remember that too!
Watched this as a kid, and it’s one of the reasons I became a firefighter. Great memories
Thank you for your services! 🚨🚒
My hometown of Trenton nj!
Every time I hear the fire siren go off in my town I to this day sing out, the fire bell the fire bell!!!
For some reason this song suddenly popped into my head, so I had to check UA-cam. Thank God for this vast repository of memories and information.
We played this in our firehouse"
Such a happy song about something so serious
I remember that back in the old days 🚒🧯
I loved this so much as a kid!
The most poignant moment, at least for us here at Komfy, is 3:30. The gentleman in the suit and hat strolling past! Several of us here can remember when no gentleman went outdoors without his hat on! Ah, 1970... how I miss you!
Yep I remember. Some of us still wear hats. During the spring, summer, and early fall I usually wear a Panama hat. I rarely.go out without it.
I feel bad for Mr. Monster, as his apartment was burned down.
As a result, he was temporarily homeless. 😿
Another thing is that Mr. Monster's voice is Ed Wynn, just like Uncle Albert.
I wish I could travel back in time to whatever auction at which the fire chief's Pontiac ('67 Bonneville?) was sold and outbid whomever bought it! It would be a museum piece today.
67 Parisienne
Nice addition to museum
My son loves watching this and he's 4
You don’t see fire trucks like that anymore.
Well over 20 year ago my Father told me that in the early 1970s when I was around 3-4 years old, whenever I was in the car with him, he'd be driving along, and every time I spotted a fire engine, I would pipe up singing:" "Here comes the firemen in their firetruck!", over and over again. When he related this story to me, I had no idea of where this came from, why I sang that when I saw a fire engine. Now I know :-)
WELL OVER 20 YEAR AGO MY FATHER TOLD ME THAT IN THE EARLY 1970 WHEN WAS AROUND 3-4 YEARS
OLD WHENEVER WAS IN
This song is really great
I started watching Sesame Street around 1981. I don't remember this one. It must be earlier.
This was earlier. I started watching around 3 years old. I was born in 1981, so I must have started watching in 1984 or 1985.
Massive Tune!!!! Anyone know where I can get the guitar tab from???
Hurray For the Fireman!!!
The fire is out!
genius song.
I have seen this fireman segment as a kid
It re ran into the 80s
There is another Sesame Street fire truck video that didn’t have a song, the fire truck was more current like from the 1980’s, and had the sirens blaring as it left the station. It was first person POV as they had the camera on top of the fire truck between the flashing lights while leaving the station - this particular video was on during the 1980’s - does anyone remember this?
Fire chief car leads the way, hook-and-ladder follow....
pumper truck throws the wat-ater !
1:10 Clip used in Up and Down footage from Elmo's World
Anyone know when fire depts. discontinued the practice of firemen riding on fire engines?
Meaning hanging on the back or the side of a truck.
FDNY stopped in the late 70s.
New Jersey in 90s
1988
where I am
Tired Man He's Ready To Go 😴💤 The Tired Man Lol 😂!!!
Two things can anyone name the fireman of Trenton in video and how much of video was filmed in Trenton
wow bunker pants in '69?
We called them 'night pants' back then. 3/4 boots during the day tour unless it was real cold in the winter.
Um.... they still do in some states.
Great song, who performed it does anyone know? It’s safe to say that firefighters have a dangerous but necessary job, it’s one job that any boy and girl can do.
Not sure. We had a FF fall and die, here in Oakland about 30 years ago.
I wonder only fire chief car goes to the fire
which fire dept was used for this?
Used to run into the room if I heard this was on. But I knew it was BS that firemen wore helmets to keep their head dry.
It's really to keep their heads safe from falling objects! I wear a hard hat for the same reason!
Lol I do it, then again that’s cuz I don’t go in yet.
Funny there's no actual sound from the actual sound to the film other than the music to it,let alone we really don't see what was actually on fire.
Guess they felt they needed to make this as kid friendly as possible.
FUNNY
