Sesame Street - everybody eats

- I believe this is the original version of the film and classic song. The arrangement sounds different than what I remember but I'm probably remembering Everybody Sleeps. Song by Joe Raposo.

RIP Joe Raposo
your songs will stay with generations of children and adults
Oh how I miss the sweet sound of Joe Raposo's voice. RIP Joe.
I remember when i was about five years old...my MoM had just walked me home from kindergarten and this song would be on as soon as i turned the channel to Sesame Street. I ALWAYS watched Sesame Street after school! Sometimes if I was lucky..I would get an after-school snack WHILE this song played...orgasmic...yes..even then. I'm far older now..but I almost start to cry from nostalgia when I hear it today because that was one of the happiest times of my childhood.
The little girl munching the corn on the cob is plenty of adorable
I'm so glad this was posted because I for 25 years was singing to my self "everybody knows, brush your teeth and toes" lol I know that wasn't right but I for the life of me couldn't remember how the song went and that was all I could think of.
I've been looking for this for years. Thank you.
That kid munching corn on the cob was ADORABLE
That kid riding the bike and eating the banana at the same time is damn coordinated!
I just had the same thought! haha Sesame St had me thinking all these decades that hippos were sweet and nice! Great minds think alike. I remember this one and I still love it.
Freaking classic. I still remember this.
thank god someone has the ORIGINAL version
I like how the origanl versions of the sleeping and eating songs have sound efects.
Yes, this is the original....amazing how it all comes back to me...I was just thinking of this because I saw the new version not too long ago (I'm a nanny)..but it is wonderful to see this one. Thank you!
Ice Cream Guy is like... is that a camera over there? WTH?
I had forgotten all about this segment until I saw the hippo eating, and then ,WHOOSH, it all came back to me like it was yesterday. Oh, I miss being a kid.
Segments like this are more memorable to me than the "main" part of Sesame Street with Big Bird and so forth. Hope that makes sense. These are timeless; especially if I still remember it after 40 years!
haha!! I watched this with my 5 year old, and he ran to the fridge right away!! LOL
I remember this sketch from when I was three years old. I especially remember the hippo (though I didn't know what kind of animal it was at the time) and I remember the girl's messy hands when eating corn-on-the-cob.
The hippo was always my favorite part
That guy with the spaghetti at 1:06.....hah! still cracks me up
I always get hungry when I watch this video; even if I've already eaten. I loved this as a child and I still do. Great video!
Don't forget about the fast eating turtle. I know that they fast-forwarded it, but to me it was hilarious on how he eats at 1:41 with sound! :)
I remember this song! Thank you so much for posting this!
there was a song i'm waiting for someone to share. it's sung by "olivia" (alaina reed) and she's walking with two kids in a park (i think). the song might be called "everything living grows." does anybody else remember this song? i still hear it in my head today and haven't seen it since the 80s.
That's wild! I didn't realize that this is the same tune and singer as the "Everybody Sleeps" one. Hmm.. the other one made me tired, and this one is making me hungry! LOL
i love this song!
How fortunate you taped all that Sesame material anyway, and were willing to share :-)
@MissHeather
I remember it too! I liked it a lot as a child!
I Love This Song Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much! (:
Ooomg I remember this
This is where my sister got the silly "everybody knows....brush your teeth and toes" she obviously forgot the lyrics and wanted to rhyme.
Same here. Even when I was 5.
Aw, what a nice, happy little song. I remember Everybody Sleeps from the early 90s. I agree with NameNotaNumber - there's nothing like this nowadays; kids' TV's gone all hi-tech and....just...crap.
I already have an mp3 of Everybody Run, but does anyone have a video clip of that? There used to be one a user named woobie posted here months ago, but it's gone now.
I remember being grossed out by that guy shoving the spaghetti into his mouth with his hands.
wow, after all these years! I found the song I got into trouble with! I was about 4, and I cut up my story books while singing this to myself, boy did I ever get it! lol!
@lurch321 hahaha, me too. That's the thing I most remember as a kid, 'thinking WTF didn't anyone teach him to eat with a fork?" hahahaha
For those people who are interested this was first aired on Sesame Street on April 26 1973.
LOVE THIS!
I know that. I recorded over 250 Sesame Street segments without cable. My point was that the quality (video and audio) are MUCH better with cable. Just listen to the sound of this video and my "Everybody sleeps" video.
1:05.. I always wondered what was up with those people eating pasta with their BARE HANDS!?
Remember that "Water Baby" song by Raposo(with seals and kids underwater), as well as "Trying Again" (cat climbing a wall, turtle on his back rolling back)? If anybody can add those videos, I would be grateful.
the only thing i remember on this as a little kid was the guy throwing the spaghetti in his mouth, lol
...even the cannibals...
I think there was another song in the early years of Sesame Street...about eating. It might have been sung by Raposo. I remember that at the end of the song, a turtle burped into the camera.
Not all of use with cerebral palsy have trouble eating :)
Besides, the song even says "no matter how you do it, don't you know it's so" silly willy :). A tube is just a way to get the food to you...
As far as what it's like to do anything naturally, I've never been able to run 'normally' but I don't miss it because I have never known anything different :). You live with how you were born...
OMG thank you! I've seen Everybody Sleeps before, but this is just as good! I like the guy eating spaghetti too, and the old-school SS music. Who's the guy who sings the Everybody __s songs, he reminds me of Donovan.
Who dislikes this though? seriously?
This sounds so much better than my version and 98% of my posts. What a shame that my parents didn't have cable during the mid 80's!
Ah yes, remember this one as well...sooo sweet...
Hey, you don't happen to have the "Trying" song, do you? Similar sweet mellow song (same guy singing, I think) with clips of a kitten trying to climb the stairs, a turtle on its back trying to flip over, etc? "Trying, and trying again, to walk, or run, or fllly...and dont be afriad becasue you're small, and dont be afraid that you might fall, 'cause you may find that afterall, it just takes time...so keep on tryyyying..."
How funny! I just remember the little girl at the beginning making what she was eating look so good. I just miss Jim Henson.
Here's tip at the beginning. Don't try to ride a bicycle with another object in your hand. Second of all, I hate bananas. I normally can't stand somebody eating one, but this is a good one to watch.
All living creatures eat. Everybody eats in different places, different foods and in many different ways. In China, Japan, and Korea, they use chopsticks. In India, they eat with their hands. Every eats differently.
Yes, the guy with the ice cream looks a lot like James Taylor, particulary from his "Jelly Man Kelly" clip. Go ahead, play them back-to-back and see!
hey cool, its good to know those facts
im hungry now
This must have came out in the 70's. I do not remember this version.
NICE
The guy eating the ice cream cone, as a kid I thought that was Paul Simon
I remember another "every body eats" skit the only addition was Madeline Kahn made a cameo in it eating something, anyone see it?
Awesome. I forgot about them adding all the silly sound effects...
my...CHIIIILLLDDDHOOOOODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ThePsychedelicShow Those were the days, werent they!?
I particularly remember the hippo scene...I am a sesame street kid. LOL
does anyone by any chance have Paddle My Way To You? I've been searching for that song for ages and I can't find it :(.
I guess when I was seven years old I didn't argue or think about how quadrapolegics eat. Just enjoy the song numbnuts!!
Seeing the little girl eating corn on the cob always made me think, "I'm SO glad we use corn holders."
What is that lady at 0:27 eating? A huge piece of gum?
At the "There are people who eat sitting," bit of this version is the man sitting on the picnic rug Jack Horner the dinosaur man who was hired to give advice on the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park?
1:25 ahhhh lol
That's so ironic considering SS of today feels the need to unnecessarily shove in sound effects to old sketches that didn't originally have them.
holy shit!!!!i saw james taylor...
@jtomally9681
This sketch would have been made in Season 4 (1972-73) at the latest, because I remember this version when I was three and I was three in 1972.
seriously, if you replace "SHITS" with "EATS" the song fits and is actually MORE entertaining.
I was expecting a burp sound at the end!
Taking in food from a tube is still 'eating'...everyone has to take in nutrition somehow.
where did you get the mp3 of Everybody Run? I've been looking for that...how about Riding on the train?
aww look at the chipmunk
I might be wrong but, I think he said "Everybody knows that everyone eats."
didn't become law in 1970
looks more like James Taylor from those days, when he had hair.
Actually, I found that that's Raposo himself! Nice voice.
@StinkadoodlePie wow
Lol I know just what you mean.
@Landaux in some countries u eat with ur hands, in some countries u HAVE to slurp soup, and its said that in places if u don't burp or belch its not a good sign to the chef! YEAH Belching compliments the chef in places! LOL
Is that Mickey Finn and Marc Bolan at 1:05 :O
you are not crazy, , click back on this video and you'll see it on the related videos list.
random song... that one girl at :56 looks familiar.
Dude, the guy shoveling in the spaghetti! Awesome!
lol
LOL! I'll try...
@dementedfurbie maybe its a wafer or something....
funny... that's what I was doing here... except I say "poops"
The sounds of people eating grosses me out!
The updated version would be "Nobody Eats, Nobody Eats..." to 'discourage childhood obesity'
@DracoArum LOL!!!
0:19 That's not true. He said "Everybody knows that everyone eat meat."
@DracoArum For Real! :)
This was back when people could cook for themselves and didn't rely on the drive thru 24/7
lol, paul simon
please accept my sympathies! i'm so sorry! :(
