As I understand it, each Alamat member represents a different region in the Philippines and speaks a different language. Taneo speaks Ilocano and is ethnically Ilocano/Cordilleran, he's from Kalinga. Mo is from Castillejos, Zambales. As a Filipino-American he speaks English well. Tómas is ethnically Bicalono and he speaks Bicalono. He is from Tabaco City, Albay. R-Ji is ethnically WrayWray and he speaks Waray. He is from Borongan City, East Samar. Alas is ethnically Mindanawon/Bisaya. He is from Davao City, Mindanao. He speaks Bisaya. Jao is ethnically Kapampangan. He is from Magalang, Pampanga. He speaks Kapampangan. I know some of their songs also have Cebuano spoken and possibly Ilonggo.
April!!! I missed your Alamat reactions! These songs give me good vibes. I have to get used seeing badass Alas in a blue fur coat. Tomas and Mo are really giving vocals in these two songs. They have all been working out especially Tomas these days. Mo who is my bias wrecker is fighting to take Taneo’s bias spot in my heart, LOL! In their latest album, I’m hoping they do an MV of Noli as it sounds haunting. I agree with you, these boys are so underrated but I am hoping they go global like their SB19 kuyas (big brothers). Love ya girl!
Philppines has over 400 languages the oldest one dating back pre-colonial and indigenous regions :) Taneo the leader is Kalinga/Ilokano is an indigenous member also all of them come from an indigenous region :) Rji is Waray-Waray and so on
Tausug is the main language in the province of Sulu, way down south. It has no representation within Alamat, which can't possibly accommodate all 185 languages in the Philippines. But that's precisely the concept behind Alamat; to introduce languages other than those the members speak. Thus the Tausug words 'dayang' (darling or 'giliw' in Tagalog) and 'kalasahan ta kaw (I love you).'
that was rji and mo during the ending adlibs of dayang btw tomas was singing the main vocals
