The composer Rolf Løvland is pretty amazing. Amongst others, he also composed Secret Garden's "Nocturne" which won in 1995 and "You raise me up" which many think is Josh Groban's song.
This is excellent. Killer song, arrangement, vocals. I have the vinyl version of this. It seems to have been recorded in Stockholm with overdubs at Rainbow Studios, Oslo. It's worth hearing the recording. It'll always sound great.
"I don't think they're gonna get nul points with this which is the Norwegian tradition it's one of their best entries for a long time" Terry Wogan couldn't have put it any better! what a great UK commentator and ambassador for ESC he was in the 80s + 90s! sure he went off the rails in 00s but he wanted to leave earlier than he did due to old age and giving someone else a chance(Graham Norton was maybe destined) but the pesky Beeb didn't wanna let him go which there should've been questioning for, I still find it hard to believe he is gone. RIP Sir Terry, one of Europe's greatest radio + TV personalities who ever lived. also Bobbysocks had the best song of ESC 1985 and definitely deserved to win, surprising "La det swinge" didn't reach UK Top 40. I reckon if the sequel to Frozen is a jukebox musical Elsa and Anna should sing this Schlager classic xD
I watched the documentary "The Secret History of Eurovision" over the weekend and they showed some of "La det swinge". I don't know much Norwegian, but this song is pretty cute and fun, and I can see how it won.
English subs From a radio it streams old melodies And when I wake up and ask my self what is going on Is it just a dream and fantasy When I feel that it is just swinging more and more Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let it swing until you loose all controll oh, hi ho. Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let the music go, let the rythm never stop Can you feel that you live here and now Do you feel how much you wanna dance Ohhh. And do you hear you heart beat pump and go Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let it swing until you loose all controll oh, hi ho. Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Duam, duam, duam, duam........ Do you feel how much you wanna dance do you hear you heart beat pump and go, and goooo Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let it swing until you loose all controll oh, hi ho. Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let it swing and let it rock'n roll Let it swing until you loose all controll oh, hi ho. Let it swing and let it rock'n swing and let it rock'n swing and let it rock'n rooooolll!
No, it was written by Rolf Lövland and arranged by Lövland with a Swedish friend. Ouwens was only brought in as the group's manager/promotor shortly before Eurovision was due. Moreover, concerning 1975 and 'Ding-dinge-dong', Eddy was mentioned as one of the song's lyricists, but he has admitted that he didn't contribute anything to either music or words.
Strange. It's obviously a British TV broadcast, with Terry Wogan's commentary obviously giving it away, yet in the top left hand corner there's the logo for a German/Austrian broadcaster, ORF?
haha! Ikke no problem! :)
Can someone clarify to me what this version is down below? ua-cam.com/video/iVj0YQnsHSg/v-deo.html (I think this is a rehearsal, but I'm not sure since there was a lot of clapping in the end)
The things that won in the middle 80s... almost as stupid as the songs that won in the mid-70s. It is perhaps less silly than "diggiloo diggiley" and "ding dinge dong" but only marginally
Still one of my favourite Eurovision songs. Those girls came out and gave it everything.
OH LOVED Terry Wogan's commentary.... and LOVED this song so much!! Ah.... the good ol' days!
Very informative there at 4:40 Terry. Thanks for telling us that. I knew it was a liquid, but I just didn't know which one.

"You raise me up" is plagiarism. The original is a classic Icelandic popsong called Söknuður. Løvland lived in Iceland prior to writing the song.
I have to tell you something... what a song!
this is definitely one of the very best song by Norway!
I've never noticed the popped collar on the conductor's blazer before. That makes this even more aggressively 1985, and even better!
Best song ever in ESC, still good after all these years.
Only in 1985 at Eurovision could you get away with using FOUR saxaphones in one song.
This is excellent. Killer song, arrangement, vocals. I have the vinyl version of this. It seems to have been recorded in Stockholm with overdubs at Rainbow Studios, Oslo. It's worth hearing the recording. It'll always sound great.

Wonderful. My favourite forever
The best song in many years of Eurovision
I watched the documentary "The Secret History of Eurovision" over the weekend and they showed some of "La det swinge". I don't know much Norwegian, but this song is pretty cute and fun, and I can see how it won.
Beautiful Elisabeth Andreassen is here just 27.
Deserved winners
We are from Norway, and we never ever could win this. But surely we can pretend, that we did.... and they won....
❤❤❤
A great song i love it. ❤❤❤❤

what a lovely song. espaecially because they use saxophones and a traditional instrumentation
one of the finest examples of eurovision preview musak
fantastisk!!
Isn't he the guy who wrote You Raise Me Up?
@Ippenutt Yes, I have meet him a couple of times, and I know him very much.
Nordmændene har forstået det. Det har var unikt👍
yes!! :D
Thats right! ;D
No chainsaws or axle-grinders, just a great catchy song and a dynamite performance. Eurovision has been gradually downhill ever since!!
@Frickis No, Luxembourg won in 1983, then Sweden in 1984, then Norway in 1985
Song is by Dutch producer Eddy Ouwens, who also wrote the winning Ding-a-dong for the Netherlands in 1975

do i hear 'sometimes when we touch' by dan hill . every beginning of chorus for about 8 notes.
Silly perhaps, arguably on the point of lunacy, but we won!

Maybe it was rebroadcasted as part of some compilation for esc or the user stole a orf recording for quality reasons but kept the bbc audio
terry wogan on commentaries, but the logo of the austrian broadcaster ORF?
don't let him touch anything important there, he's only a songwriter :D

Interessant at få at vide. Tak.

Yes it is a rehearsal.
@kntoheny 2009 gick det bra iallafall med Fairytale :D
FTW
lol.
Det er ikke godt å vite! Sammenlign tempoet i gøteborg og med finalen i oslo - den norske!
Så hører du klart forskjell :P
... Tenk at denne dritten her vant! Utrolig.
Wow. Du må ikke si sånn .Den var äwesome. Og siste vi fikk skullet jo vunne.... Men men,.,,, Bastard votes,
Låten är skitbra. Älskar norges och sveriges bidrag det året.

Fürchterlich
