I like the floor plan of this RV. It is simple and efficient. It gets the job done without resorting to compromising gimmicks.
If I was on the design team I would find a way to expand the house battery box so that it could fit 4-6 batteries, even if it comes with 2.
I would also have an kit or plan so that dealers or the end user can have the RV running off of solar (solar panels, inverter, batteries).

I love this layout. One minor dislike. Would prefer a convection oven and another drawer or cabinet where the oven is. Not a big issue. Love that there are no slides. Love that it has an 80” bed for us folks that are a little taller. Love the cargo capacity. No concern about too much stuff. You’d definitely run out of space before any overweight concern.

I've had both the Chevy and Ford E450 the in my opinion the Chevy's cab is roomy, comfortable, has good handling and ride. Mechanically Chevy has it figured out too. I love the back door for safety and air flow as much as for the storage. Compressor refrigerators should be standard in all RVs, not all parking lots are level and who shuts off the propane when fueling or going thru tunnels anyway? That bathroom beats a wet bath any day.

The back door makes it easier to make the bed. I like this layout and size. I also like that there are no slide outs. I’m concerned that the slide out function would fail at some point. This looks very roomy as is.

I really like that the bed is 80 inches long. So many RV’s have shortened beds and for folks, like my husband who is tall, the shorter bed is a deal breaker.

That back door is awesome, but where do you put the bikes when you sleep? I feel like quite a few manufactures are missing the 'have to store things while sleeping' part

I actually like the elevated section by the sink - allows for taller items to be in the sink without hanging over onto the counter. Wish it was a single sink though. I wish they'd make the bunk more a storage friendly design for people without kids. For the size the layout seems great. Just wish they'd make it more stealth looking without all the crazy RV paint swirls.

Not too bad for a smaller Class C, but I do agree with removing the sink in the bathroom, placing a smaller cabinet where the toilet is, and moving the toilet closer to the shower, changing the plastic for porcelain. I also think that the sink should be one big one and not divided. Otherwise another great video from you both.

I love 1. No slides, 2. The ccc and the bunk over cab weight for 2 adults. 3. The chevy chasis
3 improvements I would make immediately
1 A ramp (similar to the solid stairs on TT) for the back door loading Ebikes, scooters, ect. 2. 400ah lithium battery bank and 3. 800watt solar on roof.
Great layout and good price point

Nice review. This is a pretty terrific design - love the door in the back. It would be ideal for a fishing or hunting or camping or hiking or biking or kayaking trip - a place to carry all your stuff AND a place to ride and eat and sleep and use the restroom. The bathroom would be much more roomy if it didn't have a sink or if it had a fold-down sink. AND the price is far less than a comparable Class B.

Take the sink out of the bathroom center the toilet -( porcelain ) make the bed one twin - this is a 2 person RV
sleep one on the twin and bunk or dinette ( with a NICE mattress topper, not a problem ) this isn't full-time RV
needs farm sink, this is point A to B perfection ( why fly !) 40 gal water

This would be an awesome RV for motocross racers, just enough room to fit a dirt bike in the cargo area along with a bicycle, everything inside, basically a mini toy hauler, nice, that back cargo area door is an awesome idea

this one would be perfect for me, normally prefer theatre seats, but dinette is probably better in this case and with where tv is, great combo of living space and cargo carrying space, big enough for smaller toys... could always just sleep on dinette if over night stop fully loaded, dont want to take out motorcycle or whatever to put bed down. if use top bunk as storage, plenty of room for a person or a couple to haul all they could want with them on a road and camping trip.

    Likes:
Above average CCC, bunk over the cab with 800# capacity, and generator location.
    Dislikes:
Side cameras should be in the mirror housings, twist locks on basement storage doors, dump hangs low under the rear end, water connections should be behind a lockable cover, and the power cord is not permanently connected to the RV.

  • @chuckspencer5296

You have done this unit before... Its a good floor plan... My likes... #1 Is that there is not a "granny break a hip" step up inside of the coach, the floor is all one level!!! #2 A decent amount of outside storage, and the storage, or usability, when the bed is in the upright position... You could haul most anything with that inside storage!!! #3 an actual oven in the kitchen with a good sized refrigerator! ... Dislikes... #1 Well, the front kitchen cabinet should not be elevated, make it all the same height with an extension, you'd lose one small drawer. #2 That bathroom could be great! Make the sink smaller and in the corner under the angeled cabinet and put the toilet at an angel by the shower, whole bathroom problem fixed!! #3 get that TV out of the bunk, I'd rather see a slightly smaller TV over the entry door than any swivel thing in the bunk!!! Not a fan at all of this on any floor plan!!!

I wish the Coachmen website would list the door widths for this 22XG for the rear door, and the cargo garage widths for the 20XG. My internet search skills have not been up to the task. I kind of like the large screen door, but I also kind of prefer the Transit chassis with the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping that I don't think the older Chevy and Ford vans have. My local dealer seems to have a bunch of 20CB in stock, so I couldn't wander down with a tape measure

Wow, a Chevy! Dislikes: no exterior tv, twisty locks on exterior storage (lack of storage too), no ladder, no slides, cheap blinds, corner bed (deal breaker), plastic door in shower (deal breaker). Like; awning full length of rv, rear door for storing larger items (not something I would use, but I like the idea), and screen door, CCC (love it), storage drawer under dinette seating (something we can't get in our Esteem!), pull out drawers in kitchen, . Way better than a #vanlife.

Way ta go Matt,, hi Andrea looking great as usual,, Hello Jen,,never see you.:) So,,you found a Coachman on a Chevy Chassis,, so awesome. My praise on this find will be a couple more than 3.
Exterior,, I agree,,the tires/rims rock,, Azdel insulation. Has a back door,, easy set up for another awning due to wind direction/velocity & view's not to leave out coaches ventilation purposes.. XD Tail lights are generous, UN-obstructed viewing and height appropriate. Outside entertainment set up or used as storage. The interior flooring and color choice are very nice,,gives an open/roomy feel. The Cab seats are amazing aren't they? Nothing better than a long drive where your tushy and back are supported and comfy. The only better support would be a GM Cab. Lux.!! Anyway,, so happy Andrea has leg room. A room-to-move cab,, which Chevy is well known for.
Dislike,,(Exterior) boxy front side panels,, needs blending for an aerodynamic appeal also helps with fuel consumption. (Interior) Muted colored inexpensive cabinetry. Bathroom re designed & configuration. A Euro swing wall with a flip up sink would work wonders for a more spacious feel in a small closure. Pocket paneled sliding door with approx a 2inch cut on either side for entrance of bath would work wonders.

Nice. I particularly like the elevated counter space. The sinks and stoves, in RV's I've been in, are always so low my neck and back hurt after cooking. Being able to stand erect while preping is wonderful. Also like the space without slides and the CCC. I don't like the plastic toilet. Good video.

    Three dislikes:
elevated section of counter is weird.
    Flimsy drawer guides.
    Plastic toilet.

Chevy pushrod V8s always win for reliability against the over-engineered DOHC fords. Stupid timing chain tensioners have to be replaced. I still can't quite bring myself to choose this floorplan over the traditional Coachmen models with a fixed corner bed. The old style fixed under-bed storage is enormous. We never stay in one place for very long and often don't have a reserved site to camp on, so having to unload anything to sleep is a 100% deal-breaker. It looks genius until you actually think about how small-RVs are used. I actually thought about trading in our Coachmen Freelander 21QB for the XG, but it simply won't work for us.

All Ford's from 21 to present come with a single cam in block pushrod 445 Cid V8. The ones before that were 2 valve sohc 5.4 and 6.8 V10 in the E- series. Most Class A got the 3 valve V10 which can be a bit more problematic than in the 2 valve counterparts.

we really missed the MSRP Burrrrpurrrpoopoah! 3 things we Love.........1 No Slides, 2 Interior Color makes it look bigger (NO SLIDES) 3 and the ability to keep the bikes on the inside with that great Garage and entrance from the back. 3 things we dislike....... 1 shower wall the textured wall makes it difficult to scrape after the shower, 2 even though we love the garage, not liking the bed at the rear, 3 will link up with you on the weight/toilet.....could have been porcelain! All and all thought this floor plan is great, if it has a Fiberglass roof and not a membrane roof this would be a winner. And the Price......WOW!

I like Fords better in a RV as a rule but in a smaller Motor Home I like the way a Chevrolet rides and drives better so would prefer a Chevrolet in this size. I like to boondock over getting into crowded campgrounds so that rear door would be great for ventilation. I would leave the table out and use the dinette for a sofa with a couple of TV trays for when you can't eat outside. Would love to see how well that unit holds up after a few years of use because all new RVs look great even the crappy built ones. But that model hasn't been around long enough to see a used 2015 or 16 model. To me thats something I would want to see before buying any new RV. But excellent review and good looking RV. BTW one of the wheel centers are missing lol.

I'm considering a few models for my first RV. I will be mostly stationary, but full time in Upstate NY.
This is a model I'm considering. And you nailed the benefits of Class C over Vanlife.
    Things I love:
    1. The elevated kitchen counter. It's a taller person benefit!
    2. The "garage". I want a kayak and bicycle,so that is storage is perfect! The door and screen are great!
    3. Solar hookup.
    Things I don't like:
    1. I'd personally lrefer different color for the interior.
    2. That garage door could be taller and wider.
    3. Not a fan of the location of the bed latches.
Are there four season or winter Class C's?

That refrigerator is a great size! The J couch/dinette is nice and so is the large awning. And that back door +++! They packed a lot into this little guy! I would want to replace the window shades and not crazy about the shape of the driver and passenger seats. Which btw, do they swivel? Not bad for such a tiny rv👍

We love this, but would prefer one sink with a cover & a porcelain toilet. Also, if they could give us some kind of cheap rubber head protector for those legs & gadgets that stick out.

I would love to buy this RV. I love the simplicity of what I saw on the video. The back door plus the bed there. It has a microwave, stove plus a stove vent and oven. Two area sink and a nice refrigerator. Side cameras and a backup camera. I wish I could buy it now!!!!!
I wish you guys would go over the driving safety features like lane assist, blind spot detection, collision warning etc. Matt, you did briefly mentioned the side camera. It looks like a very practical small RV! Also, would like to know more about the windows too.

Matt I am a great fan of your channel. Matt or anyone out there. I want to purchase a motorhome within the next 2 years ( I am getting close to retirement). My wants are the shortest class c that will sleep 6 and has seat belts for 6 with a security net over the cab. Also, prefer Ezdel siding. No slides is a must! Ample inside and outside storage with a comfortable shower/toilet area. Please give me your recommendation. Thanks and a big time fan of your channel!!!!

They can make extra seating at the back when bed fold up.
put extra window on that back exit door.
i would change the dry part bathroom floor into wet bath floor base also the bathroom wall. Dual benefits. It would not damage the flooring,no more tight space. its gonna get wet somehow. Especially with children. And save mama from drying out the floor gazollion times a day.

One of the strongest features of this that you did not show is that the passenger seat swivels which makes up for lack of couch

This would be the perfect RV for me if it had a really comfortable jack-knife sofa instead of the J lounge, even better if it had a folding out center armrest to convert into theater seats with a couple of leg rests. Front passenger seat that rotates into the living space as well. Not sure if there would be a way to put the TV in a more central location, that would be awesome too.

I've been eyeing the Vegas/Axis 24.1 for over a year, the only issue is that it is 25'9" and I really like that this is sub 25' since there are some places I would like to park that limit it at 25'. Not sure if they would let me get away with that or not. Also, I like the abundant storage under the bed on this Coachmen, that I think might work better than the large pass-thru storage on the 24.1.

2,000 pound CCC and they give you a plastic toilet👎 If you get rid of that uncomfortable dinette and give me a comfortable sofa with a portable table you just might have a winner👍

I know SUPER STORAGE is the most important consideration when buying an RV. But does this unit have a flat floor? The older Freelander 21QB has a six inch step up in the back.

How come the B+ cross trail 21xg got the toilet position right but this slightly bigger RV got the toilet position completely wrong. I wish coachman would use the small restroom design like the 21xg.
