@@tommydaniels4299 She is not a medical examiner (who does the actual autopsy and draws conclusions from their findings). Rather she is the coroner, an elected position that is mainly administrative in nature. She may transport bodies to the medical examiner but she does not conduct the autopsy.
Why do you think you are entitled to this info immediately? Are you part of the investigation process or family of the victims? Or do you just want to know for your OWN curiosity and if you had that info what would you do with it other than go about your life. Also if they hastily put out info for YOUR satisfaction and something changes, which they often do as more info is learned, will you then assume they are covering something up? Yes, you would because that's what people like you do.

I'd be shaken too if I was working for a corrupt State and didn't have any medical training and was not only a Cororner but an Attorney for violent Criminals. Not one medically trained person has seen the bodies and this state is corrupt.
They typically do this so that the person responsible thinks that there is no evidence against them. In the meantime I imagine it is such a tough investigation with 4 victims. They have to comb through 4 separate lives to get to the bottom of this.
The interviewers should have had intelligent questions. This was an important interview that was wasted. There were so many questions that should have been asked.
When my daughter moved to attend college immediately after high school, I was concerned. I was visiting her almost every weekend. I would drive two hours there and two hours back home, or spend the night at a hotel with her.
So you, Cathy Mabbutt, a 16 year coroner veteran are clueless as to why a coroner is called to a crime scene as soon as police are on scene? Why bother calling you at all until they are done with their investigation after 5:30? You were to show up and take possession of the bodies. 16 years and you don't know that? You are responsible for keeping the bodies out of the way of investigators.You alone are delegated the task of ensuring the bodies remain intact, uncompromised and uncontaminated. Officer Payne, in his second but not last attempt to explain the presence of the tan leather knife sheath said that time, he discovered it under Maddie. So he is either placing it there or doing who knows what way close to a body and where are you? What time were their deaths? You think you could have gotten a better Idea at 12-1 o'clock than another 5 or 6 hours later? For a bunch of people who think they are hidden from the rest of the world by a bunch of trees you seem to be under the impression you can outsmart everybody as long as you have mainstream journalist hacks as pool boys. I've never known anyone who agreed to pay Later to indulge in self-serving practices while they watch the lives of others around them be destroyed due to their actions left unscathed by Later.. Are you thinking Later will forget about you and not collect on your promise to pay? Later never forgets. So I suggest you bask in the luxury of your plunder while you can. Oh yeah, IMO.
Another official said the students were killed around 3 or 4 a.m. in the morning but their bodies were not discovered until much later that day. Someone might've tried to call them and they didn't answer or maybe someone was supposed to be at work or an appointment and didn't show up. Also, they said they died by a sharp, serrated edge implement, so they were stabbed/cut.
A year later and we are still looking for answers and clues.And after a year later i still have no idea who did this Crime.Its crazy stuff in this case

I would imagine this was done in their sleep. I just can't wrap my mind around how one didn't survive or a 911 call wasn't made unless the victims were sleeping. I hope they never even realized what was happening before they passed.
Sleep or more people involved. Alot we don't know. An unconscious person then four dead and two uninjured ? Gruesome it said. An object of sharpness . Scary. It does sound like drugs were used not sure. The whole story is strange. What the hell? Not much detail .

This interview is inappropriate and could jeopardize the case if there will be one. This information should be released to the public by the police dept, not the coroner. She should have not agreed to this.

Cathy mabutt is the coronor how is it even remotely possible that a person whos a coronor with 16 years at least experience does not know and isnt aware of the time of death in this case seems extremely suspicious to me
I totally agree 100% It is one of the first questions to be answered- How long has the victim been deceased for, what time was the crime taking place. The identification of the victim for investigation and next of kin and What is the most likely cause of death and type of weapon involved. Its all basic stuff really, unless shes being vague on purpose so not to answer questions the police want to remain quiet 🤫

She instructs the investigation into the cause and mechanism of death, by gathering all the information from the pathologist and police investigation to give the final death certificate

she doesn't understand Riga mortis?? My dads body didn't stiffen until after he was taken 6 hours after his death. She's supposed to know what the estimated time is that they died .... Especially since kaylee and maddie ate , they can see if food was digested... they also would of deficated after death.

LE said the other 2 roommates weren’t in a hostage situation so they weren’t tied up & muzzled. So how did they not hear & report?? I lived in a house with 3-4 other roommates in college & there’s absolutely NO way possible (even if I was passed out drunk) that I wouldn’t have heard & known someone, much less 4 people, were brutally stabbed to death in the house!!! Because it’s her job…. If someone can’t manage their emotions during a job like this they shouldn’t be in that field. Same goes for police, EMTs, firefighters. It’s called professionalism. I'm trying to get my head around this case as I'm imagining the scenarios around 4 sleeping individuals being stabbed to death. If one girl was stabbed and she was presumably as suggested a fighter and was shown to have had the bruisings that she did show signs of a struggle on fighting back wouldn't that have woken the others up from their sleep? If there was only one perpetrator than the others would have scrambled from the commotions of the other/others. Was there more than one perpetrator or was it made possible for this one attacker because the young individuals(victims) were drugged prior to their demise and had no way of reacting upon their automated instincts in a fight/flight response kicking in during the process of attack? How far apart asleep were they from the others. Two that weren't attacked means that they weren't the targets or maybe through luck, their bedroom door were locked at that time and as they didn't witness anything they didn't pose a threat meaning the 4 were the targets . Maybe one was the intended target and the 3 others were killed either because they were potential witnesses or there was a secret grudge on these students from an on line follower/stalker or by someone they knew. Being slained in this way is just pure evil . Society itself has a sickness that roams within its realms, hope the person/person's are called caught . Condolences to the families and friends 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
Lots of questions. Four victims and nobody got one scream out according to the living roommate who could hear conversations in another room, from under a Covid mask, but no scream? Mind-boggling.
If they were held at gunpoint and then tied up before being stabbed. Or if the victims were all sleeping and we're stabbed in vital areas so they didn't really have a chance to scream or try to get away.
Medical Examiner and Coroners are 2 separate entities. Coroners are elected laypersons, who do not have to be physicians, nor possess any medical training. Medical Examiners are physicians. They possess specific training in forensics (usually forensic pathology). The ME does all of the death investigation; performs the autopsies; conducts and interprets the labs and performs expert testimony in court. Coroners inquire as to the cause of death; the manner of death; and sometimes complete the death certificate. Theirs is a more political and/or government procedural role. The Coroner should always consult with the ME, whom is the scientific authority. As to the Idaho case: Cathy Mabbutt formerly practiced as an RN. She then attended law school, completing her degree over 20 years ago, having political aspirations.
Wait, 911 got the call at 11:58am and Moscow PD gets there at noon, but the coroner (Cathy Mabbutt) didn't go to the scene until 5pm or 5:30pm because of police investigating according to her own interview here ... this is very odd to me. Also seems potentially problematic for a prosecution.
@ Jennifer Cashman- I think you watch too much CSI shows. Law enforcement must secure the scene before anyone can enter, that is pretty standard and do to the amount of victims and the area that had to be secured the time sounds about right.
I thought that but if that’s the case wouldn’t different knives be used which would mean they will recognize that unless each killer used the same knife.

The 4 adults were asleep when killed and all four of them did not sleep in the same bedroom. We do know the guy was sleeping over with his girlfriend and for all we know the 2 other girls slept in different rooms. If stabbed while asleep there would be no time to react and, even if there was another person in the room, by the time they knew what was happening they were stabbed.
I am thankful for this Coroner speaking out here and with other media. Even if what she says is hard to hear. Glad to see her honesty and giving details of the autopsy. People need to know this reality.
She was not giving information on the autopsy. The ME does the autopsy and I believe that it wasn't completed and submitted at the time Cathy gave her interview.

There is footage out there of two of the girls out ordering food and a man follows them. My speculative guess is he was after one or both of them, attacked them at their house maybe and the other two kids tried to save them or saw the guy and had to go too.
Police were on the scene first in this case based on what we know. She’s not mentioned by Payne or Sgt. Blaker in their affidavits. So our only info we have to go off about when she arrived was her statement in this interview. It’s strange they advised her not to enter or come until appx 15 hrs after death… Or that they’d restrict her from entering at all. They don’t have authority to do that. Is she a total pushover? lol
Corner doesn't give interviews. Especially to the press or leak details.... Only other case in history was ssndyhook school shooting and corner was wield as fk.. She lied and changed her story multiple times.... example bloodiest scene she ever saw, blood everywhere, wall and ceiling, just blood everywhere... To can't give excat time-line, because to many hours went by.... Which is the truth.... Another interview between 2-3 on phone interview with local news and think CNN it changed to 3-4 .... So which 3 of time-line is correct.... Police say after Bryan kohberger arrest 4-4:25.... Just watch a friend saying it happened after 4:30 in the morning all she knows... interview few days after the murders
I work in a funeral home and its not being numb(if you're numb you need to leave the field). I am driven by giving a grieving family answers and helping them when no one else can. You are sad but you do the job and do it the best you can. I would bend over backward for my families and I give them 100% of whatever I have to give. I'm not going to lie sometimes you get nightmares from what you see but you also get an extreme understanding and peace with death and grief. It's definitely something that chooses you and that you get called upon to do by whatever you experience in life. It's a hard job, it's sometimes a sad job, but it is also a rewarding one. Finding answers, putting people back together for their loved ones, comforting the grieving, tucking people in for eternity, it's a hard job but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I will say that the calm demeanor comes from being trained to stay calm and not stress out the family in our care. For example I never run in the funeral home or on the property because if I'm running it could make the family think something is wrong. Calm behavior and tone are essential when caring for the deceased.
Cathy's non disclosure has certainly provided me with more to consider when it comes to potential trauma and scene characteristics. She's obviously been traumatized by what she's seen. 😢
@@NAVY-e8e I'd have to disagree as I've watched one video where she's answering questions and when asked certain things her body language/facial expressions and response express quite a bit more than "matter of fact." The video here is not the the full video interview that I watched. It's either been edited out or another interview altogether. In the one I watched, Mabbutt was asked specific questions regarding victim location, extent of injuries, if the victim's had slicing injuries, and if they're necks had been cut. That video interview is where I got my information. Watch that one and then you can decide for yourself.
Who leaked information to the public/press? Who did this within your department? You may need to write down names of your staff, make police report, then copy to Idaho FBI...
Honest question here, if trying to determine as close as possible the time of death, why would coroner wait over 4hrs1/ 2hrs 2 visit scene 2 view bodies?

There’s no way that the two girls who were also in the house didn’t know what happened. The coroner said when she showed up that there was blood everywhere, and that they were killed at night, but it took them until noon to call it in.
The house was divided into three separate apartments a total of six bedrooms so they could have not heard anything which also consisted of a basement first and second floor
The two girls that weren't killed called over friends at 10 am then they decided to call 911 saying there is an unconscious person here at noon.the house is like a cracker jack box,they would have heard the killing,even Dylan saw the perp leave and didn't call police
Something doesn’t sound right think about it, 4 people stabbed to death in the same room. and it took over 24 hours just to announce how the People got murdered it doesn’t take less than 4 to 6 hours, To determine the cause of death ☠️ in a usual homicide. somethings not right I smell a cover-up if this was a real homicide, with four college kid victims inside a room. the entire campus would’ve been on lockdown state troopers and swat team with police dogs would have been everywhere no one would have been able to leave the campus for at least 48 hours or longer Realistically think about this 4 well to do white upper middle class college kids stabbed to death and the entire campus is not on lockdown looking for a suspect or at least some type of evidence does that realistically sound logical

It is the responsibility of the coroner to go directly to the crime scene as soon as he/she is informed. The coroner is to take immediate possession of the body/bodies, and make sure they are not contaminated or compromised in any way by others moving around at the crime scene. Because of that, no one holds authority over the coroner and their task at hand. She shirked her responsibilities and blamed others who hold no authority over her. And she knows it. She has no business holding the position of coroner. 16 years strong and just elected for 4 more? My spidey senses are tingling.
And even if one started killing one of them in their sleep when you wake up when someone stabbed you and start screaming and that would wake up others I just don’t get it

So you, Cathy Mabbutt, a 16 year coroner veteran are clueless as to why a coroner is called to a crime scene as soon as police are on scene? Why bother calling you at all until they are done with their investigation after 5:30? You were to show up and take possession of the bodies. 16 years and you don't know that? You are responsible for keeping the bodies out of the way of investigators.You alone are delegated the task of ensuring the bodies remain intact, uncompromised and uncontaminated. Officer Payne, in his second but not last attempt to explain the presence of the tan leather knife sheath said that time, he discovered it under Maddie. So he is either placing it there or doing who knows what way close to a body and where are you? What time were their deaths? You think you could have gotten a better Idea at 12-1 o'clock than another 5 or 6 hours later? For a bunch of people who think they are hidden from the rest of the world by a bunch of trees you seem to be under the impression you can outsmart everybody as long as you have mainstream journalist hacks as pool boys. I've never known anyone who agreed to pay Later to indulge in self-serving practices while they watch the lives of others around them be destroyed due to their actions left unscathed by Later.. Are you thinking Later will forget about you and not collect on your promise to pay? Later never forgets. So I suggest you bask in the luxury of your plunder while you can. Oh yeah, IMO.

Another official said the students were killed around 3 or 4 a.m. in the morning but their bodies were not discovered until much later that day. Someone might've tried to call them and they didn't answer or maybe someone was supposed to be at work or an appointment and didn't show up. Also, they said they died by a sharp, serrated edge implement, so they were stabbed/cut.

I would imagine this was done in their sleep. I just can't wrap my mind around how one didn't survive or a 911 call wasn't made unless the victims were sleeping. I hope they never even realized what was happening before they passed.

I totally agree 100% It is one of the first questions to be answered- How long has the victim been deceased for, what time was the crime taking place. The identification of the victim for investigation and next of kin and What is the most likely cause of death and type of weapon involved. Its all basic stuff really, unless shes being vague on purpose so not to answer questions the police want to remain quiet 🤫

She instructs the investigation into the cause and mechanism of death, by gathering all the information from the pathologist and police investigation to give the final death certificate

LE said the other 2 roommates weren’t in a hostage situation so they weren’t tied up & muzzled. So how did they not hear & report?? I lived in a house with 3-4 other roommates in college & there’s absolutely NO way possible (even if I was passed out drunk) that I wouldn’t have heard & known someone, much less 4 people, were brutally stabbed to death in the house!!! I'm trying to get my head around this case as I'm imagining the scenarios around 4 sleeping individuals being stabbed to death.
If one girl was stabbed and she was presumably as suggested a fighter and was shown to have had the bruisings that she did show signs of a struggle on fighting back wouldn't that have woken the others up from their sleep?
If there was only one perpetrator than the others would have scrambled from the commotions of the other/others.
Was there more than one perpetrator or was it made possible for this one attacker because the young individuals(victims) were drugged prior to their demise and had no way of reacting upon their automated instincts in a fight/flight response kicking in during the process of attack?
How far apart asleep were they from the others.
Two that weren't attacked means that they weren't the targets or maybe through luck, their bedroom door were locked at that time and as they didn't witness anything they didn't pose a threat meaning the 4 were the targets .
Maybe one was the intended target and the 3 others were killed either because they were potential witnesses or there was a secret grudge on these students from an on line follower/stalker or by someone they knew.
Being slained in this way is just pure evil . Society itself has a sickness that roams within its realms, hope the person/person's are called caught .

Medical Examiner and Coroners are 2 separate entities. Coroners are elected laypersons, who do not have to be physicians, nor possess any medical training.
Medical Examiners are physicians. They possess specific training in forensics (usually forensic pathology). The ME does all of the death investigation; performs the autopsies; conducts and interprets the labs and performs expert testimony in court.
Coroners inquire as to the cause of death; the manner of death; and sometimes complete the death certificate. Theirs is a more political and/or government procedural role. The Coroner should always consult with the ME, whom is the scientific authority.
As to the Idaho case: Cathy Mabbutt formerly practiced as an RN. She then attended law school, completing her degree over 20 years ago, having political aspirations.
Wait, 911 got the call at 11:58am and Moscow PD gets there at noon, but the coroner (Cathy Mabbutt) didn't go to the scene until 5pm or 5:30pm because of police investigating according to her own interview here ... this is very odd to me. Also seems potentially problematic for a prosecution.
@ Jennifer Cashman- I think you watch too much CSI shows. Law enforcement must secure the scene before anyone can enter, that is pretty standard and do to the amount of victims and the area that had to be secured the time sounds about right.

The 4 adults were asleep when killed and all four of them did not sleep in the same bedroom. We do know the guy was sleeping over with his girlfriend and for all we know the 2 other girls slept in different rooms. If stabbed while asleep there would be no time to react and, even if there was another person in the room, by the time they knew what was happening they were stabbed.
So very sad and I hope they get justice soon

She was not giving information on the autopsy. The ME does the autopsy and I believe that it wasn't completed and submitted at the time Cathy gave her interview.

There is footage out there of two of the girls out ordering food and a man follows them. My speculative guess is he was after one or both of them, attacked them at their house maybe and the other two kids tried to save them or saw the guy and had to go too.

So our only info we have to go off about when she arrived was her statement in this interview. It’s strange they advised her not to enter or come until appx 15 hrs after death… Or that they’d restrict her from entering at all. They don’t have authority to do that. Is she a total pushover? lol

I work in a funeral home and its not being numb(if you're numb you need to leave the field). I am driven by giving a grieving family answers and helping them when no one else can. You are sad but you do the job and do it the best you can. I would bend over backward for my families and I give them 100% of whatever I have to give. I'm not going to lie sometimes you get nightmares from what you see but you also get an extreme understanding and peace with death and grief. It's definitely something that chooses you and that you get called upon to do by whatever you experience in life. It's a hard job, it's sometimes a sad job, but it is also a rewarding one. Finding answers, putting people back together for their loved ones, comforting the grieving, tucking people in for eternity, it's a hard job but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I will say that the calm demeanor comes from being trained to stay calm and not stress out the family in our care. For example I never run in the funeral home or on the property because if I'm running it could make the family think something is wrong. Calm behavior and tone are essential when caring for the deceased.

@@NAVY-e8e I'd have to disagree as I've watched one video where she's answering questions and when asked certain things her body language/facial expressions and response express quite a bit more than "matter of fact." The video here is not the the full video interview that I watched. It's either been edited out or another interview altogether. In the one I watched, Mabbutt was asked specific questions regarding victim location, extent of injuries, if the victim's had slicing injuries, and if they're necks had been cut. That video interview is where I got my information. Watch that one and then you can decide for yourself.

There’s no way that the two girls who were also in the house didn’t know what happened. The coroner said when she showed up that there was blood everywhere, and that they were killed at night, but it took them until noon to call it in.

The house was divided into three separate apartments a total of six bedrooms so they could have not heard anything which also consisted of a basement first and second floor
The two girls that weren't killed called over friends at 10 am then they decided to call 911 saying there is an unconscious person here at noon.the house is like a cracker jack box,they would have heard the killing,even Dylan saw the perp leave and didn't call police

Something doesn’t sound right think about it, 4 people stabbed to death in the same room. and it took over 24 hours just to announce how the People got murdered it doesn’t take less than 4 to 6 hours, To determine the cause of death ☠️ in a usual homicide. somethings not right I smell a cover-up if this was a real homicide, with four college kid victims inside a room. the entire campus would’ve been on lockdown state troopers and swat team with police dogs would have been everywhere no one would have been able to leave the campus for at least 48 hours or longer
Realistically think about this 4 well to do white upper middle class college kids stabbed to death and the entire campus is not on lockdown looking for a suspect or at least some type of evidence does that realistically sound logical

Wow. She went to the crime scene herself.
It is the responsibility of the coroner to go directly to the crime scene as soon as he/she is informed. The coroner is to take immediate possession of the body/bodies, and make sure they are not contaminated or compromised in any way by others moving around at the crime scene. Because of that, no one holds authority over the coroner and their task at hand. She shirked her responsibilities and blamed others who hold no authority over her. And she knows it. She has no business holding the position of coroner. 16 years strong and just elected for 4 more? My spidey senses are tingling.

And even if one started killing one of them in their sleep when you wake up when someone stabbed you and start screaming and that would wake up others I just don’t get it

The good people of this city need to load their guns and sleep with one eye open ready to defend themselves and their loved ones. This strange and tragic case. Prayers for their loved ones. A thought....could the killer have spiked their beverages so all were rendered helplessly sleeping?

Oh man. I’m so sorry. This hurts my heart. I have a son in college still and The inability to protect them every second of the day is part of parenting once they’re a certain age they walk out the door and you can’t protect them anymore and I just don’t know what’s happening in this world there seems to be more evil than good
