Crikey, I honestly thought I was the only one who had the 'part two' of every job I did. I have got to feeling I am stupid, accident prone, unreliable and a poor tradesman, but seeing a person I respect (you) doing the same is incredibly uplifting. Unfortunately for me, you have the excuse of trying to film installing an epoxy item, and that means big trouble for any normal person.

I’m not sure which transducer he used, but I have a HawkEye transom mounted transducer and if you have an all fiberglass area on the bottom with no wood core (or a thin aluminum boat from what I recall), you can epoxy it right in after knowing it works and running the boat around like shown. They say to only use slow cure epoxy with theirs. I did the same thing on our Yamaha jet boat because I didn’t want to go with the through hull fitting (and cutting the hole 😮). Only got the depth gage after going to the St. Joseph River in Michigan because areas get quite shallow and it’s nice to take the Yamaha out to see these changes each year before taking our 40’ boat with a 3 1/2 foot draft.

it looks like you installed a transducer that is meant to be on the outside, but yet you mounted inside. I am surprised it works. Am I right and is it still working?

Hello. May I ask a couple of questions please? Why did you choose epoxy, and not silicone? And did you loose the water temperature function? Thanks.

Is this transducer still working? Did it overheat?

Why, do they actually get noticeably hot?

@@xenu-dark-tony I am still considering the inhull mount. In my research I have read that some transducers need to be in a liquid. I have read several comments claiming that transducer failed was due to running them out of water for long periods. But, you know how things are represented on the internet.

@@kevinmoney4112 Yes, such a great source of information, only half of which is accurate! I certainly have wondered why people add anti-freeze or oil to the inverted cup sitting against the hull. It seems that no material with air bubbles in it can be used, which seems to make a bit of sense.
