American Airlines Business Class in 2024 | Is it worth it?

- Today I’m flying an American Airlines airbus A321 in Business Class from Puerto Rico to Miami and reviewing the full experience. The seat is the exact same as what is usually in domestic first class, so I’m not actually sure; was this business class or first class? And is it worth the upgrade?

Great trip report. The seat looks spacious and comfortable. The meal was as you say nothing fancy but definitely adequate on a two and a half hour flight. Shame about the lounge at San Juan- looks overcrowded and the food didn't appear very appetising. Finally, top marks to the crew who sounded like they handled the fainting passenger competently and compassionately. Look forward to your next video, safe travels!

You flew in first class domestic. MIA-SJU is not considered international by AA and other US carriers....for US travelers.
Domestic first class it’s the same as international business class.
That’s incorrect. There is a clear difference between 1) US domestic first class (which is what is shown in the video) 2) international business class (lie flat seats) and 3) intra-Europe business class which is basically economy seats with the middle seat blocked.
The one caveat is that sometimes the airline will label a US domestic first class ticket as “business class” for some select routes if it’s a short haul international route. Even though PR isn’t exactly “international” but that’s how it’s being labeled.
I enjoyed the first class flight a lot I had very good service and a comfortable seat, just wish not changing the schedule
With your onward BA business class ticket you could have used the admirals club in San Juan
Is there one? They told us at check in that they don’t have a lounge at SJU
This looks like first class on AA. How is this different?
I think the only difference is what they call it. Even though it’s technically a domestic flight, AA tickets it the same as they would for an international one so they call it business class rather than first but from what I can tell the seat and service are exactly the same

That’s rubbish just read the rules and it states you have lounge access regardless of lounge you travel. I’m flying from ORD to SaN soon in domestic first I’ll try it out. With my silver card. I’ll probably get thrown out but I’m going to give it a shot

Delays are standard for @americanairlines. I travel for work and every single flight is delayed because of their poor scheduling of personnel, planes or their gate agents inability to enforce policies. Clown show it has become.
That’s very disappointing. I was very glad to not be in a rush on our flight, but it must be incredibly frustrating to have constant delays especially when on a tight schedule for work.
I haven't flown American in 5 years and was so disappointed when I realized that the video screens have been removed. I always fly business and expect some sort of entertainment on my 6 hour flights. Use your own mobile device? I DON'T THINK SO! Watch a movie on my tiny phone? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING! I'm going to use up my miles with American and switch to another airline that offers entertainment screens. Bye bye, American Airlines.

I cannot believe BA thinks just putting 2 people in a standard seat with a table over the middle seat makes this a business class cabin. This airline has lost the plot. They should look at Middle and Far Eastern airlines to see what real business class looks like. BA is a national disgrace, not only are planes old and tatty. The staff are rude and unhelpful. They should be made to take the flag off there tail fin
