      Hey there Jim. I got finished cleaning my cartridge 1:04 was running low. I used a regular garden hose with the hand sprayer and just about got all the muck and debris out of it. But when I put it back in, turned it on, it’s still blowing out cloudy water. What did I miss? I know my son put something in it the other day. I’m not sure what but I was told he put a half bag of algae cleaner in the water and it didn’t need that at all. I told him to pick up more chlorine tablets. Because we were out. Could the cartridge filter be ruined now?
      Thanks.

    Thank you for the video Jim! The pool and deck look awesome. The first thing I noticed in the back ground of your pool is the tall field of corn. I would suspect that is the source of your problems, idk for sure but you should did a great job of fixing it! Closed my pool already.
    Looking good in the beard my friend! I bet your getting ready for fall hunting season! God Bless my friend!

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  5 місяців тому

      Can you let it all settle to the bottom and then vacuum to waste?

    • @thewayshegoes9172
      @thewayshegoes9172 5 місяців тому +1

      @@DIYJIM yeah I guess I'll have to buy a vacuum for it, hopefully that works

  • @danameyer6738

    Did u vacuum at all in those 2 days? Or did you just let the filter run?

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  Рік тому +1

      I did use the vacuum very slowly not sure if it helped a lot. I think it was more a waiting game.

    Is this floccuant? Seems from your description to be it. If so, you cannot use it from what I read if you have cottonballs in stead of sand in your filter.

      I have never had a pool! It was given to us. It's a lot of work. Nothing is free, as the hubby says. I sometimes just want to empty it and fold it, and throw the key away. It's barely half summer. We may get 5 months of summer, only God knows. I don't know if I want to try this. The situation is we had barely installed 16x20 pool and then suddenly, this odd weather storm dust a bit of rain the neighbor's tree. The pump malfunctioning. Days went by, and now I need to clean. I need a vacuum. I don't think the hubby wants to spend more. My girls just used it once since that odd weather. I am expecting guests for the 4th. I hope this clears off. If not, I am done!! Thanks for the video. I love m the shirt!

    Myself finding that my problem was a under power pump and found that sand filter just works better
    Now I just use chlorine tablets floating around and have to do a lot of vacuuming, but my water is crystal clear
    Good luck everybody

    I am happy my house does not have a pool. My friends have them and it is a struggle to keep it clean and clear. The closest thing I have to a pool is a plastic duck pond and it is always dirty with duck oil and feathers floating around. The only ones swimming in there are frogs.

      My pool really has not been to hard to take care of. I only paid around $1000 for it, and that counts a new pump and new liner. I put it up myself. I should have made a video of that, but I was just starting my channel. Thanks for watching my friend.

      Most people can’t figure out the simple steps and get frustrated. It’s actually really easy to keep the pool clean if you follow simple instructions found on UA-cam

      I’m struggling. Just bought an above ground pool and I’m struggling big time. I only got to enjoy it for one week and it started bugging out. Didn’t know I had to add all these chemicals to it smh

  • @InFltSvc
    @InFltSvc 2 роки тому +8

    It’s doing this because you don’t have enough chlorine residual that’s why you put a stabilizer in it!.

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  2 роки тому +3

      I’m sure that was definitely the problem. My pool was covered with the solar cover and life got busy. Thanks for watching my friend

      @DIYJIM That's exactly what happened to our pool about 2 weeks ago. Then every time we would start to get everything on the up, it would rainstorm. We finally have it to where there's only a SLIGHT cloudiness to it. I'm pretty sure we need some of this binding stuff. We've been running our filter system at least 10hrs a day while cleaning the filter a few times a day. Each time there's always that dead algae visible on it so I know it's getting it all, slowly but surely
      All of our chemicals are balanced now. I think it's just tiny particles of dead algae, etc from when we had our solar cover on and neglected it for only a few days- of heavy rain though and with no stabilizer (whoops). Lesson learned. This is our first season of having a pool so we're getting all the lessons and practice I guess.
      Anyway, thanks for this tip!
