This season to me felt like Disney was testing the waters to see what worked and what didn't, not just for this season but for the franchise as a whole
I think the reason they introduced the Thunder Rangers so early is because it’s to quickly make up the well known *’Team of 5 Rangers’*
The Thunder Rangers aren’t meant to be seen as the ‘extra’ Rangers, that’s saved for Cam which is why I like his Story Arc later down the Season.
They are meant to make the ‘2 remains’ of the Wind & Thunder Academy and having them join early on allows them to be a whole team.
And again, from this they then go on to introduce Cam’s arc.
It's partly because of the Sentai footage too. I've seen Hurricanger, and they introduced the Thunder Rangers pretty quickly too.
Thunder rangers arent opposite rangers. They are just rangers and if you look at it that way it makes more sense. Like Kai and Damon from Lost Galaxy. Yeah they were on the evil team at first but they arent Psycho Rangers or the vengeful Titanium Ranger many people look at for more than what it is
I feel that Cam is in a way is just like Antonio from Samurai without the flair. Both are overlooked by their mentors and have to show as much potential as their fellow rangers.
Every pr season with a trio always gets the 4th ranger within the first 5 episodes with the exception of jungle fury

I'll say this about Ninja Storm; it's a better Ninja Turtles show than The Next Mutation.

Theory: Sensei being turned into a talking guinea pig sensei was an homage/callback to Yoshi Hamato becoming Master Splinter in certain continuities of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Why I like this season is easy Magic Ninjas, a good twin and evil twin, Cam a technically inclined green Sixth Ranger, Lothor knows he's funny and he has those great fourth wall breaks, and Tori who's basically a hotter version of an Olsen twin.

Shane's Kharma were two of my favorite episodes of all time. I see a huge comparison between Casey and Shane. Both had to grow quite a bit to be leaders of their teams. In Casey's instance it's confidence, but in Shane's it's maturity. This is the guy who mainly wanted to spend his life riding skateboards suddenly having to lead a team to save the entire planet.
This season was a big part of my childhood. The characters felt like a friend group I really wanted to be part of.
I would say one reason that Ninja Storm works is because there's no group that can hate it. For kids it is good fun, for Adults it has some smarts humor and depth, and doesn't go overboard with either. Also the Thunder Rangers defeating a monster for the Wind Rangers to repay a debt shows a lot more character than most other evil Rangers. Magna Defender helped the Galaxy Rangers, but only because their enemy was in his way, Titanium Ranger didn't have a chance to if I recall. It shows that the Thunder Rangers were good people who were against the Rangers but not evil for evil's sake. EXAMPLE: say Tommy had been injured somehow in Green with Evil and the Rangers saved him. He probably would've turned right around and shouted "FEWLZ" and kicked their butts again. The Thunder Rangers repaid the favor without just joining the team.
Yeah, I'd say that tiny little addition really helped the Thunder Rangers stand out. I just really wish they would have stuck the landing with part 3. Green With Evil is interesting to me as an old school Ranger relic because it seems like almost every evil Ranger story since is at least in part inspired by that, but then they add some extra levels of intrigue into the proceedings.
The Disney Brain The Magna Defender arc never did copy Green with Evil. The parents showing up...actually i just thought of a good way to do it. If sensei used some dark ninja art to bring the spirits of Blake and Hunters parents back and having his life threatened by it, then in Return of Thunder they need to something from the thunder ninjas to save him. Maybe too dark but more interesting. The spirit parents never bothered me but hunter getting mind controlled bt green splooge made me eyeroll.
Side note, im just curious bout the beetleborgs-rejects thunderzords from a making of standpoint.
In my head canon, the Thunder Ninja Academy was created by a former Beetleborg and then retrofitted their tech to be Morphing Grid compatible. That or they have their own Cam over there.
I don't really consider Magna Defender an evil Ranger arc, because even if he himself was a Ranger, his status as morally conflicted more so than fighting for any one side made that arc fantastic.
The Disney Brain morally the Magna Defender is definitely an anti-hero like...(sigh) the quantum ranger...

I read because Ninja Storm was the first season filmed in NZ, a teamup with Wild Force was unfeasible due to many logistical and political issues.
I don’t mind them filming in New Zealand. But, one thing I don’t care for, is that if they keep doing that, why not have at least one season that takes place somewhere other than America? Overdrive, with its globetrotting motif should’ve been the ideal season for that idea, having it take place in Australia with Rangers from around the world. And in my personal head canon, with four of the five main actors of SPD being Canadians, I’d set New Tech City in Canada.
Also, considering how much New Zealand factors into the story to Dino Charge (hey guys, did you know Chase is from New Zealand? Well, Chase is from New Zealand. And if you don’t remember, Chase is from New Zealand, we’ll tell you Chase is from New Zealand at least once an episode), why not have Amber Beach be in New Zealand?
Well, because the audience for the show is in America and we are a xenophobic people...

And then the narrative could be, hey, the main enemy for whatever reason hates the idea of unification and contentedness so the Rangers coming together would be a metaphor for the world coming together all while the Rangers themselves keep learning about what makes each one who they are, even beyond their culture.
Unfortunately, PissedGrunty makes an unfortunate but in some cases very accurate point about the current state of the west.

Ninja Storm is one of my favourite seasons, along with Dino Thunder. For me the goofiness of Ninja Storm worked because not only did they acknowledge it, they fully embraced it

My favorite character is tori.
Diana Weiner she is the most likeable in this season.
I liked how they have the good blue ranger crush on the bad boy blue ...thats different...she seems more like the tomboy who isn't into love but nope and its funny how the guy who betrayed their trust becomes her sweetheart

this was the first series i actually watched and i still love it to the day. not only me but my mom and sister watched it as well. so that was nice. best ever power rangers series for me
I really don't know what to say, thank you, man. Your thoughts on the previews seasons and how you analyze the characters and their unique mindsets is something that shows an enormous potential for writing. Keep up with the great work. Ninja Storm and SPD are the best seasons so far.

I love this season, but this is no hard feat to accomplish at all. The other one is 44 episodes of stalling with 0 plot and villains with the IQ of a door (I still like the rangers tho, but they deserved better)

Chill is a very accurate description of this season. It's not particularly one of my top favorites, but it's still enjoyable at times. There were times where it could've had some emotional depth to it, but the writers missed the mark.

I would argue that this time around, the writers were actively trying to avoid the mark. I don't necessarily agree with that, but at the same time, they found ways to create their own version of quality without following the trajectory of better seasons. I can respect that at least.
Nuruddin Shah pretty much, but I've seen worse seasons before and after this.

This was my first power ranger that I got into. After this I saw dino thunder.. Then I went to see the older ones cause I was invested in these....... Ah good ol times. BTW I adored dustin in ninja storm, he is the chill dude

Actually Ninja Storm was the first season under the Disney banner and kicks off the Disney Era. Wild Force was produced while still under Haim Saban.

"going back to the light hearted tone" huh? That explains a lot why Time Force had a more "mature" tone per se and took the show just a little bit more seriously. Same with Light speed Rescue with their military like tactics. Guess that's why these were my favorite seasons and why I kinda stopped caring during ninja storm/dino thunder and onward not to mention hitting burnout. Didn't really much like the sound mixing either. But it was the first time seeing the 3 ranger team rather than 5 and out of all the ninja themed ranger shows, I dig these the most.
While Power Rangers in Space was my favorite power rangers season as a kid, I was like a toddler, seeing reruns, there was already other Rangers, and given random toys. With Ninja Storm, I was age appropriate to watch it, especially easier to watch cause it was on Disney, and becoming one of my favorite seasons to this day, even if it’s not as great in comparison to other well written seasons.

Some very good characters this year- Cam and Dustin for the Rangers, and even Marah/Kapri.
Ninja Storm was great but there were some loose ends. The season was filmed in NZ, fans realized that it was in an alternate universe & no crossover with Wild Force.
I love this season so much.
The series ended up being produced as a reboot. Disney intended to make each series going forward a separate universe unconnected to each other. However this caused major backlash by the fandom, leading to Dino thunder to recon ninja storm back into the og universe

I could be wrong, but Cam's shirt starts to show some green in it, even before his set of episode. He even had a green shirt on covered by a white shirt. Maybe to foreshadow? Also, I think Beauty and the Beach does show some things about Tori. Most specifically, it shows that she is not a girly girl and it also shows how she fits into the groups friendship. Sure, they could of handled it better, but the info about who she generally is and where she stands was met. In my opinion
The issue is that episode and what was learned from it doesn't really go on to effect the rest of the plot meaningfully. Meanwhile, every Ranger not named Tori has multi-part episodes or in Dustin's case, a more downplayed progression that expands overtime. By the character standards set by the season, Tori is just kind of along for the ride. I still think she's awesome, but not as awesome as she could have been.

I love the power rangers videos, but i kinda miss the dcom's ones! I would love to see a video about the dcom "Don't look under the bed" and a video about Wild force, since its one of my favourites power ranger seasons!!

I loved this review and the way you looked at ninja storm, I can't wait till you do the characters review, personally tori is my favorite ranger and I think the season could have made a better use of her, I think they overlooked (not sure that's the right word) her a bit
I agree. I think she started as the best character but Dustin and Shane had episodes focusing on them that were actually good. Tori only gets one focus episode so I don't see her as a changed Ranger at all when the series ends. Even Madison got a better focus episode and I'm still low key annoyed that she wasn't handled better.

I think introducing the thunder rangers super early was a good move, because this is the first 3 man band episode. The thunder rangers dont exist to be the evil rangers, but to introduce the new rangers, its like a long prologue.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but it sounds like you are saying this isn't based on Sentai and is original footage? Most battle footage is Sentai based in NInja Storm (and almost every PR season, except MMPR 2/3)
PissedGrundy, that's not true ninja atorm,dino thunder,spd,lost galaxy,in space,mystic force,and rpm has alot of original footage with rpm being roughly 90% original footage.
I was 7 years old when Ninja Storm was airing. I had the lightening megazord, all the Morphers, all the weapons. I even used to have the LEGO sets with the mini ranger figures lol I was obsessed! I used to love every season. I even found out about Super Sentai at a young age. I was always doing research and watching UA-cam videos. But when I found out the Japan toys are better I would have my Grandpa buy me Sentai toys online lol my first Sentai toy was the Magiranger Changer. But my first time I ever saw Power Rangers was when I was 4 years old and Turbo: Movie was on Starz or something like that. I remember big megazord fight and the colors and the fighting and adventure and was so intrigued! My first megazord was the Galaxy Magezord! I was so happy! Lost Galaxy was my first season! I really feel like I was spoiled because I got all the good seasons growing up as a child lol I’ve seen MMPR - PRIS as well thru reruns too growing up. Power Rangers literally defined my whole child hood. I wish they would make it better. It’s so wack now. Well at least that’s my opinion
My feelings for Ninja Storm are pretty complex. I generally didn't like the more comedic bend, but it did work well quite a few times and they did have some really good episodes in there. Good to great characters on the heroes side (not so much the villains or even the Thunder Rangers). LOTS of technical issues (the audio sounds BAD a lot of time). It was enjoyable to watch though, a pretty middle of the road good season.

Power Rangers Ninja storm will always have a special spot because it was the first series that I finished entirely. I think this show saved Power Rangers and revived interest in Power Rangers after Wild Force
My main deception with ninja storm is that they never made a crossover episode with Wild Force, yes Iknow about the Disney Era, but it was a lost opportunity
Rodimus Wild Force lost some viewers so staying Fresh with Ninja Storm was a good idea on Disney’s part

This is kind of an issue that I have with the majority of villains recruiting characters who were already good at heart into being evil Power Rangers...why don't they just recruit some actual bad people in the main story and make them into their personal team of evil Power Rangers?!
I mean, seriously. If Lothor, for example, wanted only the power of thunder, then why doesn't he just kill Hunter and Blake immediately, and take the morphers and just give them to some individuals who are already evil from the beginning after spending months or a year of ninja training under his tutelage?! Wouldn't that be more interesting of a concept and story-arc of a team of evil Power Rangers in the season of Ninja Storm?!
As a general rule, particularly in episodes with stronger mystical or supernatural elements, morphers are tied to and sometimes even "choose" the initial user and so wouldn't work for anyone else. Also, from the villain's perspective, it's faster and easier to find someone who already has the skills you need with the added bonus of cruel irony in getting people to do your dirty work while believing they're doing something good.

Ninja Storm brought new colors
I always enjoyed this season because it was two teams coexisting, which was a cool experiment. It took Toei 16 years to do it again. At least Sentai have become predictable (next team will be either myth [European or The America’s would be cool] or a semi-parody of Nexo Knights [a cross between Knights and Futuristic tech-I kind of feel Zyuohger is a parody of Legends of Chima because it’s animal factions uniting and learning more about themselves] with a female blue ranger, then a vehicle theme [i could see BMX, animal motif parody, or roller coasters], the Knights season might have to go here because i can’t think of a martial arts style to go after that)

The best way to describe Ninja Storm is “enjoyably stupid.” Yeah it’s really dumb but it’s so entertaining to watch. It’s a season where you can just turn your brain off and have a good time.
This season has the top 5 best theme song hands down jungle fury comes first tho
Favourites differ from person to person but for me I think this series has the classiest suits design ever and these are the best fighters without ranger powers like they are already master level in martial arts and ninja style of fighting. On too of that, they have the powers of elements like wind, water etc. And on top of that they have that fast ninja ability where they can travel to places so quickly almost like a teleport. These are quite a ton of abilities without ranger powers.
