I loved watching, you sound like such a happy friendly person. Thanks for a great easy to follow tutorial. I've already got a receiver of this changing mat!
I bet you could used a vinyl table cloth for the fabric. You can always find cute ones just about anywhere. You could get one that matches the season , which would be really cute!
Clip all corners at 90 degrees before turning right side out to reduce bulk.... Consider kam snaps as an alternative to Velcro.... Use a nice weight oil cloth or laminated cotton instead of thin nasty vinyl / cheap plastic table covering... Also consider adding some batting or using towelling for baby to lie on. Way more comfy.... Nice dimensions though.
Helly Jenkins I agree oil cloth would be way nicer but you definitely pay for the difference. You could easily sub out snaps for velcro. Great ideas Helly :-)
Yay! I'm so glad it was helpful and it's always nice to hear that I made someone laugh! These kids of mine just don't seem to think I'm funny anymore haha!
Hello! Loved the tutorial, I can't wait to try this one. Question on vinyl... Did I see that you said you could take vinyl and iron fabric to it? Thanks again. Loved the video.
Yay! I'm so glad you liked my pattern. If you have time I'd love it if you'd post a picture on my facebook so I can see :-) facebook dot com /modernhomemakers
Melody, the reply button isn't popping up so this is an answer to your question! I've never tried to melt vinyl to fabric. The vinyl I used had cotton on one side of it already so that wouldn't have worked. I don't know if it would work with normal vinyl or not, I'd say may sure that you are in a well ventilated area and that you protect your iron with an extra layer of fabric. If you do end up trying it I'd love to know how it turns out :-)
Jo-Ann Fabrics carries it and baby designs but it's the type of fabric you see for plastic tablecloth plastic on one side and fuzzy cotton on the other
craftylady39 I wouldn't recommend ever putting vinyl in the washer and the dryer is a definite no no. I'd stick to wiping down with chlorox or lysol wipes so that the whole thing doesn't disintegrate.
My printer is acting crazy and will not print the pattern can you tell me the measurements of the pad cut before sewing I think I can go from there I really love your video and I know it is exactly what I am looking for to give as a gift. Love your video and the little goggle in the back ground :)
Evelyn H I feel you on the printer drama! They are always broken. It's been eons since I made this and I'm on a different computer. Let me see what I can do! Sorry for the snail paced response BTW.
They should have it at JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby. Even if you don't have vinyl you could just use heavy duty cotton or or upholstery fabric and wash more frequently.
u can also use any washable glue... apply heat from iron... not too hot for plastic Velcro... and it will stay stuck... and wash out... Elmer's washable is good... work for anything you can iron in place and forget the pins
Can someone tell me the finished size of this changing mat please, I made it 3 years ago and finally got it printed out now I need it again and can't find the pattern my ink is empty in my printer
I just told my hubby he got a compliment for his camera work and he's thrilled :-)
I took your pattern and made some changes. I'm really proud of my changing mat, I also made a matching tote diaper bag. Thank you for the pattern
