The reason I let go of the accelerator button as I approach the finish line during the last lap is to take 2nd place to shorten the cutscene time and I only do that on the first few tracks of each league. The only tracks I usually do a first place finish on is Death Wind 1, Silence, Red Canyon 1, White Land 2, Death Wind 2 and Fire Field.
The reason I use Master difficulty on all 3 leagues so the AI on each track will rubber band quicker and I can finish in second place on some of the tracks faster except the final track of each league where I prefer finishing in first place.

Okay, what is with the botching? I thought the intent was to hold accelerate until after crossing the finish line on the last lap.
