Maybe it was hard to play clean. I play it on autopilot mostly but the main thing is to be locked in with the drummer and to do it as clean as I can and as equal as I can. I have a tendency to accentuate some notes and I have to fight myself to do it clean...
Jerry Scheff (AKA Elvis' Bass Player) Sat in as Studio Bass Player for the Recording session of the L.A. Woman album. played on all but one track. Has always been My favourite Doors album.
Ray's keyboard solo on this song is one of my favourite pieces of music.
Well why don't you just fuck right off to the keyboard isolate, then?
@@timmykookoo Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed..
I love The Doors. If there are more songs that can be played on bass guitar, I'd so love to hear them.
Perfect to practice with the piano
I’m in a band from Nashville with one of Jerry’s sons. We nerd out on this pretty frequently.
“Nerdy” is no way to describe a DOORS practice session. 😉
Any else know why Ray said that Jerry Scheff thought it was hard? - Learnt the bass in a few minutes. Still great
The only way I could imagine this being any less simple to play would be if he was originally trying to do the main riff all on the E string haha.

I don't play bass, but it doesn't sound difficult.
maybe they originally wanted to play it in another key, where the notes dont fall as easy with the frets
It's possible. :)
