As this video is released Chris is riding Badlands 🤯
Why don't you do a story of how Velocitized drivers cut off cyclists and aren't aware of the terror they cause? Drivers that come off the highway experience a slow motion effect, for the rest of the day. Are you not interested in why most folks don't cycle? Terror keeps them away. Same when they wear dark clothing and have a few too many close calls, due to invisibility. Why don't you support maximum visibility, which makes for a happy ride?
Good to see Chris showcasing not only his fantastic achievements for some great causes but also the Attacus kit. Best kit out there and a British company owned by the brilliant Jimmi & Emily.
Thanks so much for saying that. Jimmi and Emily are legends
From the video's title I was expecting something very different; pacing, planning, fueling, mental prep etc. Very interesting interview, but nothing to do with a "how to" title
"How to" clickbait video. Still interesting watch but yeah very little in the way of tips.
Seems like a top bloke, amazing achievements and for fantastic causes. What an inspiration!
And dark clothes make cycling scary, when the drivers don't see you in the shadows when they wear dark sunglasses. He shines!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to comment
Many thanks for taking the time to tell us of the 'ups & downs' of these ultra events, Chris. Very open and honest, without 'sugar-coating' the realities of solo long-distance riding. Haven't done anything quite that long, but I have completed a couple of Trans-Alp (1/2 'Rando Imperator') Randonee events. Respect & kudos to you.sir ;-)
Respect and kudos to you too! Trans-Alp sounds really cool. Thanks for watching and for the kind words too
I think that the questions being fairly ‘open and honest’ helped 👍
Love Chris Hall! Second favorite moustache behind Ted Lasso
😂 I’ll take that!
What a fantastic guy, great to see a cyclist with that attitude and so much to be learned from Chris. Probably worth a much longer interview.
Thanks so much for the kind words
Great vid guys!!!
My idol...Chris Hall...the one and only mr. 107km for 107days...a living and loving legend...🌟🌟🌟
❤️
Lovely fella. Chris did down play his 107km a day for 107 days though. It wasn't just a couple of laos of Richmond Park!
Thanks so much for the kind words ❤️
@@ChrisHallRides you are a courageous fella. Far too modest too.
@@allanfoster6965 haha I just say it as it is I think. Still, really appreciated
@@ChrisHallRides Not undeserved me ol fruit pud. Looking forward to your next endeavour. 😊👍👍
Jeeeesus, I love cycling, but this so far out of my range..I ride a regular Touring bicycle, with luggage and all, and even this is challenging. Cudos to this guy!!!
Going touring is one of my favourite things to do. Thanks for the kind words
I think Cycling Weekly should try Chris' advise and do a Megameter. Would be a great video to see.
Most awesome! Chris rocks. Listen to his Pod (or watch it on youtube)
Good video about Chris and raising money for charity. Cheers!! Although the video fell short on any "How to" as the title states.
Very cool guy, I did a 630km ride within 24 hours last year, this year aiming to do amsterdam-paris 500+ km in about 20 hours
Love the Atticus kit! Keep rep'n!
Always repping those legends
Great and really interesting interview - not quite ‘how to’ as in the title but good watch nonetheless :)
It's interesting to hear about Chris's experience and achievements, but as mentioned by many, for those of us who would want to learn more about ultra distance, a video on details about setup, equipment, nutrition, bikefit etc would be even more interesting. Cycling weekly tends to be too much of a branded advertisement in every video, barely scratching the surface over some sexy b-roll product placement. Step up your game!
Chris Hall, legend. 🚴👍
🙌
This gent is very inspiring. He rides not only for himself but for the greater good and yet he gets thrown all these extreme and unnecessary obstacles which he truly does not deserve. The upside is, is that these challenges will only make him stronger. Keep pedaling Chris. We are rooting for you.
Chris is awesome 👍!!!!
CHRIS IS THE MAN!!!!!!!
❤️
Inspiring. Is Chris sponsored by Cervelo? Always been great bikes. Thanks for the post.
Seems definitely so.
Agree - I'm lucky enough to have three.....through no Aspero....yet
Yes he is!
Is Chris referring to the Trans Pyrenees by Lost Dot? If so, see you on the start line dude. 🤙🏼🙌🏼🤘🏼
Yeah that’s the one! Shame it was cancelled again right?
I get stared at alot in public because of how fit i look with grey hair. I'm 52 but I have the body of a 35 year old and I feel like I did back then.
But it's hard work, I'm consistent and I ride hard. That's my secret. When I was 25 riding I never once thought of the future benefits I would gain regarding my overall health. I just realized this in my mid 40's when I would look around and see that I didn't look like other guys my age. I looked like a young man. My mental state is also free. Intense cardio has lit the fire within me. But the secret is consistency, so I try to tell people that are in there younger years to start early. Build your fortress against sickness and disease.
7:58 gear ratios are not a reason to prefer a gravel bike. It's a reason to change the gear ratios on the road bike. You can put GRX on a road bike, 46-30 / 11-34 or even 11-36
True, but it's not what he said.
He said the combination of gears, the more relaxed position and the ability to put on wider tyres makes him gravitate towards gravel bikes.
@@GMSlash exactly 🤙
Over 4000 riders do Paris-Brest-Paris every four years, and that is 1200kms in 90 hours or less. Fully self-supported. Other countires have equivalent events, and London-Edinburgh-London is 1400 kms. Interview any of them.
I'll happily be interviewed... did PBP in 2019 it was an awesome experience which never nearly happened.
@@BikepackingAdventures I was a Rando for 30 years. but PBP just twice. A lady from my club (BC) has done it 10 times - a women's record. There is a guy in Seattle who has done like 100 1200s! It's addictive.
@@barrybogart5436 yeah I bet they sure would have some amazing tales to tell
Does anybody know what top tube bag that is?
Enjoyed the video, doe anybody know what width tyres Chris i using?
They’re a 2 inch tyre from Schwalbe on 650b wheels
Cheers mate👍
This bike was really easy to assemble ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Do you stand riding as much as shown in the clips?
Up hill I always get out the saddle. Also when we filmed this I was recovering from a pretty serious injury so hadn’t been riding much 😅
👑👑👑
Does anybody know what top tube bag product name is? Just perfect assembly.
Could be restrap
@@shaunedwards4362 Ordered, thanks!
It’s the One Cervélo make for the bike
How do you face a steep hill on an ultra endurance challenge?? With no small plate?? My god, I get anxious just to think about it 😂
I know the states are a little bit different I often wonder about the same scenario as I'm gravel riding in the backwoods in the country a lot of places here in the states that are backwards and country are not very welcoming especially if you look like you don't fit in. There's usually a ultra compact 9 mm in my top tube bag!
You forgot to ask him how to be a good walrus.
😂😂
Did I miss the "lesson"?
It would be good if you had included a quick bike check of the bike behind you.
Ok... Everything is amazing! And my question is... After that GIGANTIC amount of hours riding, do you still feel your package? Or is just there?? 😂
The Aspero is among the very few dropped seatstay bikes that can visually compare to (although hardly surpass) many a proper (read: more sloping tube and seatstays continuing from there) bike. Possibly, the handsomest of all dropped seatstay designs in existence today. For, as a rule, horizontal top tube / dropped seatstay frames are downright ugly.
A little short on details, but ok
Three letters ...E...P...O
well, they told a lot, just not HOW TO RIDE EXTREMELY FAR
uh... RAAM a few times... more 24's than fingers and toes... uh lots of 1000 mile weeks... good on you mate...
"How To Ride Bikes Extremely Far (And Relatively Fast)" I enjoyed the video but didn't hear the "how". Did I miss it?
Simple, ride more miles.
In the US gravel is enjoyed by many types. It seems only hipsters are allowed in GB?
Not at all, UK gravel attract all different types from a multitude of backgrounds. And Chris is an absolute legend.
Tony Strange he may be a legend but he’s still a hipster.
Why is he a hipster,cuz of a beard ???
@@edrcozonoking yeah I have a problem with my hip unfortunately.
@@ChrisHallRides 👏👏👏👏💪💪
Well, he spoke about everything but how to ride longer and relatively faster... Shame
Not a how to video, zero actual advice, training plan or tips and tricks. Im guessing a paid promotional video to feature Chris before his next event to drive hype.
Wow wearing dark clothes and going fast! Do you stop at stop signs? Do you have time to chat? Why not do a story about how Velocitized drivers terrorize cyclists? When cars come off the highway, the drivers cut off cyclists and aren't even aware of it. Dark clothes make you invisible to drivers wearing dark sunglasses in the shadows. They also make weasels look thin.
👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿 stale bread and flat beer provides more entertainment than this “wasted oxygen” of an interview.
Must be miserable being a jerk
Best go and enjoy your beer then ! Chris Hall is a legend, if you can’t relate that’s an issue you should address
Who hurt you?
