Talent through the roof
Anyone who strips, sands and finishes wood furniture knows the hard work that goes into it! You are the queen for sure! Beautiful job!!
Amzing how a fresh paint and updated hardware on outdated furniture really brings it to date. Soooo beautiful.
The new black hardware totally popped this dresser ❤
Love the idea to do the first coat of poly then do the sanding. I found myself accidentally stripping colour and I hated having to go go over it again. I’ll try that next time!
Ugh, I’ve been in that situation a few times 🤦🏻♀️
It would be better to wipe your wood with a damp rag after sanding to raise the grain or else use water based stain to raise the grain then sand. You don't need to worry about it raising twice and you don't want to sand raised grain with poly.
It looks brand new 🎉
Another amazing piece by Katie ❤
Great job. Taking off the scalloped edging on the bottom and replacing it with a squared apron would boost the cabinet into the new millennium. The scalloped apron is very 70s/80s.
I have the same style bedroom set 😢
I'm not a huge fan of knotty pine but you knocked this Out of the park.
I wasn’t sold until I saw the black hardware, you did it again Katie. Great job.
You certainly saved this dresser's life! Great work Katie 👍
Love the finish and how the pulls add interest instead of the usual knobs
You do such great work!! I love how your channel has grown so much 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic transformation. Your vision is incredible, I would have never thought that ugly old thing could be refinished into something so attractive. Oh, and I love your "pinup" pose on the top of the dresser!
You never cease to amaze me. Beautiful transformation.
This dresser turned out super nice!! I would not have thought about the drawer pulls that you put on this dresser but, they are perfect!! ❤
I always smile when I hear that Pune is a soft wood. I’m from north of Sweden really far north and for me (and everyone in my region) pine is a hard wood. Pune grows so slow here so flooring and building wood is always pine. Up here we don’t have so much other wood to rely on, like oak bc they don’t grow here. Pine, birch and spruce, that’s almost everything. Birch is the hardest one and often used in furniture, like now I’m working with a table from 1920 and kitchen and chairs from 1950 both in birch. I’m giving it all the same finish so they will look like they belong together even if they’re from different eras.
The black pulls make an excellent contrast with the light wood. 😊
You have a great eye. Pulling out and highlighting what makes each piece special. Very nice!
Wow! The subtle neutral paint wash and black hardware made this piece so timeless! ❤ All that work getting the old finish and stain off was definitely worth it!
What a great piece that you can sneak into and blend with any home vibe. Well done Katie ✨🩵✨
Furniture stripping is so satisfying! It turned out so pretty.
Wow, another fabulous redo on an old dresser that needed some freshening up. Love what you did. At first I wasn't sure why you left the very bottom with all the curves as is. I expected you would modernize it with a straight linear piece but seeing the final outcome it looks great just the way it is, and is very coherent in its design. Well done! ❤
I thought the same about the curves. I have the same style furniture that I stripped and wished I had removed those scalloped curves to give it a more updated look. However, it worked for this dresser.
Great transformation, Katie.
Ugh! Knotty pine. But my goodness you made it look like new and modernized it - someone will love it :)
Excellent job, 🎉🎉, love that Algonquin color wash, but especially love your nail polish color, Mulberry comes to mind, it’s gorgeous. Thank you for pleasant time watching you work, Gramma,
The pulls are perfection.
Love the lighter tone and the new hardware and all the tips never fails that I don’t learn something new.
Love this! The pulls are a huge improvement over those similar ones that have a dome look to them. I hate those things. Excellent job ❤
You took an ordinary dresser to a fresh clean yet still classic. Every thing you did was understated but in the end turned out so wonderful! I think this is such a great example that refinishing doesn’t have to have things cut off and painted wild colors to make them feel fresh again! Yay you
Love this. Love the look, feel, smell of natural bare wood. You gave new life to a poor worn dresser. You are a master
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for uncovering that beautiful wood. Pine is my favorite wood, and all of those gorgeous knots hidden under that dark surface was blasphemy. Thank you for showing her some love.
Night and day difference - beautiful piece thanks to you!!!
Yet another great job Katie! I am currently working on painting kitchen cabinets for our basement. Spent 2 days removing hardware, cleaning, repairing, filling holes & taping. WHEW! This is so much work!
You're inspiring with the care you take with each piece to do it right.
I just love taking your classes! I truly learn something new every time. After always struggling with sanding after my paintwash, yes, it removes too much color. Now I know I can wait until after my first coat of poly. Thank you!!
Well done Katie looks great!!
I always enjoy your furniture flips. You do such nice work. Could you tell why you use a sanding screen instead of sandpaper. Thanks.
Absolutely love the dresser now.
I love pine furniture even though it does often have an orangey look. You did a great job on this piece. My daughter has a very similar dresser that was a hand-me-down from me. It’s probably older than she is but still doin the job. 😊
Turned out very beautiful ❤
I’m a big fan of the wash with Algonquin. It always looks so fresh and natural. I really like those cup pulls, too. They’re a great updated look. Also, I like that you didn’t alter the skirt on this piece. I got really tired of that look really fast. This looks transitional and updated, while still honoring its original style. Wonderful, as always, Katie!🌸
That was so time consuming but it looks gorgeous compared to the start. Another great piece.
Once again, your talent shines through!
Wow, from brown to beautiful 😍
It turned out just lovely. Another beauty. If you have too many pieces I have room. Ha!
Have pretty much exact same dresser (chest of drawers) along with matching bedside tables about to bring out of storage after 15 years. I know insane time but a long story. Already ordered same black handles which are on their way to me in Australia. Ordered handles before seeing this video as was thinking of painting set in a soft white. Am now rethinking as love the finish you have done here.
And the dresser looks fantastic!
I ♥️ it! Excellent choice of draw pulls and paint wash.
Thank you Katie!! I’m getting a better idea what to do with my (too) dark finish living room tables - and maybe feeling a bit braver 😅
I love the way this turned out. Beautiful
So much talent! Looks so much better! I love it! You are such a star!
What an absolutely clear, concise, excellent video. I'm a beginner and this was so helpful, thank you! ps - your work is beautiful ❤
Very pretty and great tutorial 😊
Great job as usual! Love the hardware color. I usually opt for a deep brass with this color wood/wash. Will look at black in the future!
Beautifully done my friend!
Oh my goodness that’s beautiful!! What a perfect way to show the character of the pine without that dated golden glow (that the entire inside of my home is covered in!)
Super cute. Love those handles you chose.
A classy classic 😊
It’s beautiful!! ❤
Once again…….wow!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
what a transformation!! looks so chic
Stunning!!
Looks great!
Beautiful, as always!
Beautiful as always!
