    Yea the idea that a knife guy just makes a lunge forward with straight arm kata like ‘heeeeYA’ is just funny too, that’s not happening. Some guy with a box cutter is just going to slash slash slash quick, pull back your hands they’re sliced to ribbons, it’s pretty terrifying someone with a knife.

    What "it is" is thinking that one's training partner, who does not want to severely injure or kill you, is fighting you like an andrenalized sociopath on the street who is determined to severely injure or kill you will fight you. .
    Your friend doesn't want to hurt or kill you; the sociopath does. Your friend is not adrenalized; the sociopath is. Your friend will let you win; the sociopath will not.

    Very true as always Professor James, also the guy could flank you and take your back, he could easily switch hands with the knife and stab you with the other hand on your liver or back, kidneys, lungs, etc. When he switches the grab to the outside, again the attacker could switch hands and stab you on the face and if not uppercut punch you on the face, temple.

    The amateurs are teaching techniques that work in the gym under the assumption that the opponent will just fold up. Not reality. In the street when the fists and feet start flying, you best have a move and another move and some idea of what a real fight is going to look like.

    It’s not too violent…this man is trying to save lives and prevent injuries to innocent people who have the right to defend themselves. He’s right, real,life is violent and for the aggressors, it’s not their first time doing what they do. If they’re still doing evil, it’s because they are good at it. This man is teaching people how to survive a life threatening, disfiguring, crippling attack.

Sorry professor for all of the trouble that they're doing but don't stop being you, your passion has me showing others so they can watch and learn to see that self defense is also offense as well.

    COMBAT LOGIC! Great work! 😱

  • @michaelfraser4929
    @michaelfraser4929 13 днів тому

    So true. You can’t forget to use all your tools, and you can’t forget the attacker can and will use all their tools. If you get tunnel vision and focus just on the knife instead of the whole situation you miss opportunities and you give opportunities to the attacker. The most basic striking combination is the jab cross. Yet are we to assume the attacker with the knife is just going to stab with one hand and not attack with the other hand. If you give the back early and the attacker just bum rush tackles you to the floor, now you are on the ground being stabbed. We have to prepare for the real threats in real ways, otherwise our training becomes counterproductive conditioning that will make us implement bad habits. One thing with knife defenses is we sometimes want to be flashy and cool with our hands when we would be better off getting a kick of to attacker’s knee or groin to stop the attacker’s forward momentum then counter attacking off the opportunity created by delivering that blow first. Plus the grab of the attacker with two hands and going into a mind frame of wrestling for the knife is absolutely counter productive if you have multiple attackers, while a stop kick and strikes still give you opportunities to maneuver and deal with multiple attackers or flee if possible.

      Great point. Two cops confronted a suspect with a knife. They successfully disarmed him and all was well; then he drew his gun and shot both of them.
      A security guard had to help one officer draw his handgun and return fire. The suspect was neutralized and the officers survived.
      An aggressor on the street will carry his or her weapons concealed and never tell his or her victim if and how many he or she is carrying. The gym is predictable; the streets are not.

    They are using the head as another point of contact. The head being there is a starting technique. They are focusing on getting in and getting control of the knife. Don't think of it as just a head on the shoulder. That's how you train it live against resistance. Really the potential for a headbutt is there. A person with a wrestling base is training an art that was developed in a time when warriors only had knives and swords to kill. The man even said it is done one way statically. Meaning, it is done another way dynamically. You have to build someone up to that. It's easy to say "eye gouge" when you are calm. You can more than likely accomplish that at speed and with an opponent who is trying to hurt you, but how would your students fair? How would they fair right after learning the technique? What those guys are showing is something that can increase someone's chances of survival after a single class of techniques and drilling. Will they be fine tuned? No, not at all, but the gross movements of "get in, get control of the weapon, and stay on it," can be accomplished in a single training. I like both philosophies.👍

    Bare in mind that even the criminals want to feel good, and you'd never know if a few of them help to balance out with everyone they know,,,
