I dont deal with Swans but with Seagulls, during nesting period which is usually in Summer. They screech warnings if you get close to their rooftop territory, then they fly down and screech for awhile aslong as you are there oof
I guess that swan was only protecting it’s family. I grew up around a lake with a swan and goose population and my mother (being a biologist as well) always told us never to go near either bird if they were accompanied by babies.
Lmaooo at the people debating what the swan is capable of 💀💀 like who gives a flying f when it literally sounds like that 🤣 anyone with sense would automatically stay away.
They are as majestic and beautiful as they are fearless and intimidating. If they hiss at you, the message is pretty clear -- Stay away from them. They can reach sizes comparable to grown up men and will not shy away from charging and attacking.
Swans can be very aggressive especially when they are protecting their young or themselves. Sometimes swans can attack humans if they go near their territory.
I wouldn't do this with a wild swan like this. First of all, swans are amazingly strong birds and can break your arm with their wings. Secondly, since you are a predator, by approaching him while he's with his family, you're making him fear for the safety of his wife and his kids, and that is *not* a good kind of fear to instill in another creature!
No, I know it was stupid of me. I knew even then that they can break an arm or a leg of a human being, and it has happened. I'll probably never do it again .... Nah, I promise not to do it again.
I agree should just leave them alone but a swan isn't a dangerous animal to people and most certainly will not break a bone ever. This is just a myth that people seem to keep believing. Their bones are thin and tiny otherwise they would never lift off the ground. You can read more here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17736292
Ok, then I have apparently believed in a myth and even forwarded it without knowing the facts. Shame on me. Some "facts" people want to believe, and then the myth becomes true. I wanted to believe that a swan could break an arm, but no such event is described or witnessed anywhere or ever.
Actually, I did hear something about a Swan breaking someone's elbow joint or something like that, while he/she was trying to steal eggs out of the nest, maybe you guys could shed some light on that? I wouldn't choose to fight a Swan to be honest, they have done nothing intentionally wrong to deserve that!
Swans can act aggressive and moody for many reasons. 1 can be they’re protecting the cygnet’s which they can get very aggressive when you go near them. 2, could be that the dude is too close to the swan and the cygnet’s and he’s got the camera up in there faces. Or 3, there hungry. But since they’ve got the cygnet near by, that’s why they act that way.
Swans are very good with their young, and are very territorial as well. I remember at my school there were lakes. The swans nested there every year we always kept our distance from them due to not wanting to be pecked or hit with their wings. The catering staff used to feed them healthy food as well.
Why you not walking by like the other people in the vid? Why have you got a camera out annoying swans? If I seen you do this here in Scotland I'd bust your jaw up.

I got hit by a swan’s wings once. It hurt pretty bad, my upper arm was bruised for a couple of days. Since then I give them a wide berth if I see they have chicks.
Swan's doing his job. Imagine you're out for a walk with your wife and small kinds and some giant lumbering animal gets too close.
Yeah exactly. Don't go near an animal and its children. You're in for a bad time.
what?
Zss2M
I wouldn't exactly call those "kinds" small. They look like juveniles.
Actually, the mother is the one hissing. Tget often are the most agressive ones since it's their children basicly and will be the first to attack
it hisses like freaking snake oh god
Jack Nogueira IKR NOOOOOOOPE
Yeah tbh I had no fucking idea that swans hissed xD

Don't mess with a wild swan. When I was a kid, I had to run in the rice field. It chased me and it ran fast too
The only sensible person in the video is my wife who both warns me and walks away.
Swans aren't to fuck around, they are very aggressive

One chased me down too but I kicked it and it was game over for it, gotta show them who rules.
Did you ever get out there?🌾👀👨💻
I guess that swan was only protecting it’s family. I grew up around a lake with a swan and goose population and my mother (being a biologist as well) always told us never to go near either bird if they were accompanied by babies.

Yeah we can see the grey baby swans too.

I love how they waddle when walking it's hilarious to me for some reason 😂

They can sometimes cause bad injuries if you go near the cygnets so I’d be careful doing that
